"What are you thinking about?" A light breath drew near as Si Chu glanced downward, Mingshu leaning in, gazing up at him without blinking.
After a moment of thought, a knowing curve formed at the corners of her lips, her eyelashes fluttering lightly: "Did my words upset you?"
"No." Si Chu instinctively averted his gaze, hiding the emotions swirling in his eyes, denying without a second thought.
His dark, selfish thoughts, he thought, were best known only to himself.
Mingshu seemed to have laughed, her gentle breath tickling his chin.
He felt a tug at the edge of his clothes and looked down helplessly to find Mingshu's earnest eyes: "I truly like being outside the palace, but I like it even more when you are with me."
Facing Si Chu's deep gaze, her cheeks turned a faint red, yet her eyes didn't waver, displaying an inexplicable stubbornness.
"As long as I can be by your side, nothing else matters. You are the most important, so please don't be unhappy, alright?"
