The night obscured clarity, and since he had been too far away earlier, the man in black had not seen Mingshu injure someone with her move.
He eyed Mingshu's frail frame, his doubts somewhat abated. He had always heard of the Noble Consort's arrogance and assertiveness; it seemed she was merely emboldened now that she had support, becoming even more reckless in her actions.
Having realized this, the man in black immediately let go of his hesitation and, mounting his horse, drew closer to Mingshu. He looked down on her from his elevated position, "Noble Consort, can you tell me now?"
Mingshu beckoned him with a curl of her finger, whispering mysteriously, "Lean closer, how can I tell you when you're sitting up so high?"
The man in black, unsuspecting, was only growing impatient after being toyed with by Mingshu over and over.
He decided inwardly that if Mingshu offered any more excuses, he would take direct action. After all, there was more than one way to make someone talk.
