Chapter 44 - 44. What?

Tristan welcomed King Oberon and his ten aides warmly. He brought the King of the Widomar Kingdom to the living room.

King Oberon's tall and large body made him unable to sit on chairs and sofas like ordinary people. Therefore, he always brought a chair that was specially made for him.

Tristan was nervous facing King Oberon. He watched the king, who was enjoying his honey tea.

The Widomar Kingdom was quite far from the Madigan Kingdom; the journey took almost a day.

Tristan cursed the spies soldiers who could not detect that King Oberon's purpose was to meet him.

Tristan watched King Oberon chewing on chocolate cookies. He brought the cookies made by his queen as a snack during the trip, and he was happy because there were still a lot of chocolate cookies left.

"I'll share them with you." King Oberon gave Tristan two chocolate cookies. Tristan thanked him and accepted them. King Oberon instructed a servant to refill the teapot because he enjoyed Madigan's honey tea.

Tristan glanced at the chocolate cookies before eating them. The shape and taste were the same as the chocolate cookies from his previous life. He recalled his mother baking a cake for him on his birthday.

Tristan suddenly felt emotional. He missed his mother, but he couldn't see her grave. He was afraid that he would forget her face and voice.

"Thank you for letting me eat cookies made by my queen and drink five cups of honey tea," King Oberon said. His deep voice startled Tristan, who was daydreaming.

"I want to go to the bathroom." King Oberon grinned widely as he scratched his head.

Tristan wanted to shake his head at King Oberon's behavior. "My knight will show you to the bathroom."

Tristan instructed Knight Ajax to show King Oberon the bathroom, waited for him to finish peeing, and then returned him to the living room.

"Your Majesty." Knight Aiden approached his king, whispering. "I am sure King Oberon will discuss something severe with you since the people in the carriage horse behind him have not shown themself."

Tristan stiffened. He turned to Knight Aiden with a pale face. "You are scaring me even more."

"Forgive me, Your Majesty." Knight Aiden bowed.

"Can you guess who is in the carriage horse?" Tristan asked.

Knight Aiden shook his head. "All I know is that the person is a royal family member."

Tristan frowned. "Okay. Thank you for the information." Knight Aiden nodded, and he returned to his original position.

Tristan put his hands on the table and squeezed his white-gloved fingers. His heart was beating fast. He was restless, and various thoughts came to his mind.

When King Oberon entered the living room, Tristan instantly placed his hands beneath the table and focused on him. He wished that his face and eyes wouldn't reveal his emotions.

Tristan used the scare-the-opponent skill. He wanted to know if it was true that the skill did not work on King Oberon.

"Five days ago, I and my troops caused chaos in your Kingdom. My soldiers injured dozens of your soldiers. I have made a bad first impression on you," said King Oberon with a regretful face.

"I apologize again to you, your wounded soldiers, and your people." King Oberon showed his sincerity in apologizing.

Tristan waited for the king of the Widomar Kingdom to confess to him that his girlfriend being ganged up on by three women at the inn was a scenario of his own making, but it seemed like that would not happen.

"I forgive you, but I will not forget it," Tristan answered casually without any emotion. Of course, he was lying; he would not forgive King Oberon, who had made him fail his nap that time.

"Thank you very much for forgiving me." King Oberon touched his chest, and his eyes sparkled. Tristan did not like the look on his face. "I also apologize; today, I came to you without making an appointment first."

"Just this once, I want to meet you without an appointment," Tristan said with a stern face. "I happen to have some free time."

"Thank you for taking the time to meet me," King Oberon said politely.

"No problem." Tristan looked at King Oberon suspiciously. King Oberon showed his side as a king who respected other kings. Unlike five days ago, he had looked down on Tristan.

"What brings you to see me?" Tristan asked. He did not like small talk. His heart was already pounding nervously as he waited for King Oberon to reveal his primary purpose for coming to his palace.

"When we first met, I left a bad impression on you. In contrast, you left a good impression on me," King Oberon said. "I agreed with your father and the palace to crown you king at a young age."

Tristan felt his body getting tense. His guess was correct; at that time, King Oberon was assessing him, and he wanted to know what good news King Oberon would tell him.

"I am old, and I will die soon. Everyone will die, right?" King Oberon chuckled. "I have a daughter from my queen. She has been crowned as the crown princess. I will hand over my throne to her after she gets married."

Tristan looked straight at King Oberon. He knew everything from his two knights. Crown Princess Maristella was known for her kindness and generosity; everyone wondered who her life partner would be.

"As a father, I helped my daughter find her life partner, and she agreed." King Oberon stared at Tristan deeply as if he was reading Tristan's mind and reassuring him that he had not made the wrong decision.

"I believe you are the right man for my daughter." King Oberon held Tristan's hand tightly.

Tristan's jaw dropped. He was so shocked that he thought he would die of a heart attack, but his heart was only shocked, and he did not even faint.

"I hope you will marry my daughter. If you are not ready to marry her this year, you can marry her next year. I will pray to the Gods not to take my life before my daughter is married," said King Oberon.

He was a father begging for a man he believed was worthy to be his daughter's husband.

Tristan was at a loss for words. He never thought King Oberon would match him with his daughter.

Tristan didn't know what to answer, and the system notification made him even more confused and frozen.
