Chereads / I'm Eren Yeager / Chapter 27 - Against All Odds

Chapter 27 - Against All Odds

The morning sun cast its warm, golden light upon the ancient castle, illuminating the dusty corners and cobwebs that had accumulated over the months. The Levi squad, clad in their peculiar attire, scurried about, diligently following their captain's strict commands.

Their usual combat gear had been replaced with aprons, gloves, and headscarves, making them resemble a troupe of elegant maids. Levi, ever the perfectionist, oversaw the operation with a hawk's eye, his own appearance a testament to his dedication – a head napkin tied around his forehead covering his hair and a makeshift facemask covering his mouth.

-----------------------------------

"Hey, Levi, is it really that important we could've just hired some cleaners?" Eren asked, his voice laced with a hint of frustration as he ascended the ladder to tackle the sparkling chandeliers. His apology, finally accepted two days prior, still lingered in the air, a reminder of the fragile truce between them.

"Idiot... Stop complaining, and focus on the task at hand," Levi retorted, his gaze never wavering from the windowpane he was cleaning. Levi continued instructing,"The chandeliers, Eren, make sure they shine like the top of Wall Rose."

Eren nodded, his movements swift and precise, as he worked to satisfy Levi's lofty standards. The silence was punctuated only by the soft clinking of cleaning tools and the occasional cough, as the squad members worked tirelessly to restore the castle to its former glory.

"Captain," Eld said, appearing at the doorway with a cardboard box filled with letters, "The postman just delivered these." Levi nodded curtly, gesturing for him to place the box on the cobblestone floor beside the door. As Eld turned to leave, he added, "Oh, and Eren, I almost forgot – there's a letter in there for you."

"Alright, I'll check it once I'm done with the cleaning," Eren replied, his eyes fixed on the steps as he carefully descended from the ladder," Hey Levi I'm done with the chandeliers can I rest now."

Levi's gaze narrowed, his voice firm, "No, idiot, you're not done yet. Wipe the drawers again. I can see the dust from here."

"But I just cleaned them..." before the poor fella could finsih the threat of redoing all the cleaning alone of the entire castle was enough to make him hasten his task, his movements fueled by a desire to avoid Levi's wrath.

As the last speck of dust was vanquished, Eren let out a sigh of relief and ambled over to the cardboard box, now forgotten on the floor. He picked it up, his movements carefree, and plopped it onto the freshly laundered bedsheet. The soft fabric, crisp and clean, seemed to whisper tales of comfort and rest.

But his tranquility was short-lived.

Levi's hand shot out like a whip, striking Eren's head with a resounding smack. "Idiot! Don't you know the box isn't clean? You just placed it on the freshly washed bedsheet!" Levi's voice was a low growl, his eyes blazing with a mixture of annoyance and incredulity.

"Kid you're done now do everything over again." Levi threatened allowing Eren for a short break though. He isn't that cruel now. Is he?

--------------------------------------

Levi's hand extended, holding a single letter, its cream-colored envelope adorned with elegant script. "Here, I think this one's yours," he said, his voice neutral, as he handed it to Eren. The letter was addressed to Eren Yeager, and the return address read Shiganshina, a name that stirred a mix of emotions within him.

Before Eren could open his letter, his gaze wandered to the stack of letters still in the box. One name in particular caught his eye: Jessica. "Hey Levi, who's Jessica?" Eren asked, his curiosity piqued, as he read the name from the top of the paper.

Levi's expression turned indifferent, his shoulders shrugging ever so slightly. "Beats me," he replied, his tone nonchalant, as he picked up the letter from the box. The envelope was a soft pink, and the handwriting was feminine, with flourishes that seemed to dance across the page.

As Levi opened the letter, a hint of surprise flickered across his face. The letter was from a girl in Wall Sina, and she had addressed it to Levi Ackerman, Captain of the Special Operations Squad (Levi Squad). Eren's eyes narrowed, his gaze fixed on the letter.

"Dear Captain Levi,

I'm Jessica from Wall Sina. I'm writing to you with a heart full of admiration and adoration. I've been your fan ever since I was a little child, mesmerized by your bravery and skill on the battlefield. Your unwavering dedication to humanity's survival has inspired me to become stronger, to fight for what I believe in.

As I grew older, my admiration for you only deepened. I began to see you not just as a hero, but as a symbol of hope. Your strength, your conviction, and your unwavering commitment to protecting humanity have captivated me. You became my light in this darkness.

I know it may seem strange, but I feel a connection to you, Captain Levi. I want to be the one to stand by your side, to support you, and to bear you the strongest child humanity has ever seen. Whenever I think about you my heart races the fact of being without you kills me Captain.

I'll make sure to give the humanity's strongest man the humanity's strongest child. I promise to be worthy of you, Captain Levi. So please Marry me.

Yours Forever,

Jessica"

Levi's face remained stoic, but his cheeks betrayed him, flushing a deep crimson as his eyes met Eren's. Eren, unable to contain himself, burst into laughter, tears streaming down his face as his voice echoed through the castle. "HAHAHAHA! Oh man, Levi, you've got a fan!"

But before Eren could say more, Levi's lightning-fast punch struck his abdomen, silencing him with a grunt of pain. Eren doubled over, gasping for air, but instead of complaining, he chuckled, "Humanity's strongest kid... Hahaha."

Levi's expression turned stern, but a hint of embarrassment lingered in his eyes. He placed the letter back in the box, aware that none of them were useful - all were either love letters or fan letters. It wasn't unusual; it happened almost every day. The fame that came with being a hero had its downsides.

With a dismissive snort, Levi turned away grabbing the box and placing it under the bed, leaving Eren to nurse his aching abdomen, still chuckling to himself. "Humanity's strongest kid... Hahaha." The phrase echoed in his mind, a constant reminder of Levi's unexpected admirer.

Levi's expression turned grave as his gaze pierced through Eren. "Don't tell anyone."

Eren nodded, placing the letter on the table from shiganshina he had held earlier, and resumed cleaning the room alongside Levi. "I guess you're used to getting letters like these," he said, his gaze shifting from the floor to Levi.

Levi nodded curtly, his focus on folding the clothes.

Eren's curiosity got the better of him. "Hey Levi, is there someone you like?"

Levi's response was immediate and firm. "No, I don't."

Eren pressed on, his voice laced with mischief. "Do you intend on falling for someone and ending up marrying someone? I do intend on having nephews."

Levi's gaze snapped towards Eren, his expression unyielding. "Ahhhhh, look Eren, I don't want to marry anyone. I won't condemn someone to the same fate as mine. These letters I receive are all for fame... these girls who send me these so-called emotional letters are all fraud. Even if one of them is loyal, I won't want to have a child with them. If I did, they'll be entitled as Ackermans like me. I am strong, and that's why this empire exploits me. Once I become useless, they'll discard me like trash."

Eren's eyes widened, his voice filled with concern. "But Erwin recruited us, right? No one owns the right except him."

Levi's nod was grim. "That's right, but there are things Erwin can't stop. Look at your relatives, exiled and living in a forest because they aren't useful to the empire... And consider this, Eren: even if I marry someone and have children, what if I die on an expedition and don't return home? What will she do, huh? She'll live a widow's life... We are soldiers, Eren. Marriage isn't in the cards for us, not when we can die anytime."

The room fell silent, the only sound the soft scrubbing of the floor. Eren's gaze never left Levi's face, his eyes filled with a deep understanding of the harsh reality they faced as soldiers.

Eren's expression turned thoughtful, his eyes never leaving Levi's face. "I understand your concerns, Levi, but we soldiers also have heart we can like someone can't we." Levi nodded," That's true we can but it never ends like fairy tales you need someone for that to come true." Eren's response was quick,"what if I told you there's someone who's different? Someone who's strong, loyal and someone who might have the same fate as you? Someone who'd love you to the fullest and someone who'd never judge you by your status or fame but by your personality "

Levi resumed folding the clothes, his movements methodical as he spoke. "Eren, I... I don't quite understand where you're coming from."

Eren, who had just finished mopping the floor, sat down beside him. "Levi, there are truly good people around you. You just need to look for them. And there are people who would never hate you for being an Ackerman."

Levi smiled faintly as memories of his friends surfaced. "As if someone like that even exists..."

Before Levi could finish, Eren interrupted. "There is. Levi, there is someone. That's why they call them soulmates."

Levi turned to face Eren, his gaze steady. "Look, Eren, I already told you I'm not—"

"Just trust me. There's no harm in giving it a try," Eren urged.

"Fine, who is it?" Levi asked, giving in.

"Petra... I think you two are meant for each other—"

Before Eren could finish, Levi's face flushed crimson. He tried to mask his embarrassment with irritation. "Shut up, Eren, and start cleaning."

"Oh, come on, Levi... Stop acting so strange," Eren said, trying to convince him. Levi turned his face away, pretending to focus on folding clothes, but his cheeks were still bright red. "Kid, you're out of your mind. Petra and I... never."

Eren continued to press his case, but Levi was resolute. "Look, Levi, I really think she's a great woman. Whenever she looks at you, her eyes light up as if you're her ideal—"

Eren's words were sincere, though he was unaware of the irony that Petra harbored her own secret affection for Levi.

"Agghhhhhh, fine! I'll think about it..." Levi muttered, his face flushing with embarrassment as he turned away and left the room. Eren's evil grin spread across his face, knowing he'd successfully planted the seed of possibility in Levi's mind.

But Eren's triumph was short-lived, as his gaze fell upon the letter that mercilessly sat on the table . He'd forgotten to read it in the excitement of the moment. As he opened the envelope and scanned the contents, his expression changed from triumph to shock. The merciless letter seemed to whisper it'd secrets and the whole world around Eren seemed to stop and a faint shirll went down his spine for a moment he was paralyzed.

"The hell... she was fine, then how did it come to this?" Eren's thoughts raced as he read the desperate plea for help from Grisha, a letter from Shiganshina. Karol, his dear aunt, lay on the brink of death, and Grisha begged Eren to use his connections within Wall Sina and Mitras to procure the medication that could save her life.

Without hesitation, Eren rushed to inform the Levi Squad, and together they set out for Mitras, their horses galloping at full speed. Eren's mind raced with thoughts of his aunt, his heart heavy with worry. "Aunt, don't give up on me." he thought, his determination fueling his relentless journey.

--------------------------------------------------

Mikasas POV

A week had passed since Grisha sent the letter to Eren, but there was no sign of hope. The silence was deafening, and Grisha's anxiety grew with each passing day. What if the letter never reached Eren? The thought haunted him, leaving him feeling helpless and trapped.

Grisha couldn't leave Karol's side, not even for a moment. Jacob, being an Ackerman, was bound within the looming forest and Grisha couldn't ask him to leave either. As the days ticked by, Karol's condition worsened. Her coughs grew more severe, each one a death knell, filled with blood. The disease had progressed, causing her to vomit blood profusely. Her breaths were labored, her heart on the verge of giving up.

Grisha estimated that this might be her last day. She wouldn't make it. Carla, the blood donor, had spared almost three blood bottles, but it had left her bedridden. Mikasa, meanwhile, had retreated to her room, consumed by grief. She refused to eat, her darkness mirroring the despair in her life as she awaited her mother's impending doom.

What would she do if Karol died? Who would take care of her? The questions swirled in her mind, tormenting her. There were moments when Karol's heart almost gave up beating, but Grisha's desperate attempts had managed to revive her. Yet, he knew it was only a matter of time before her fragile body gave up entirely.

The menacing day seemed like an eternity with Karol ready to die any moment. Grisha either prayed for death or for her to get fully healed up because being in that state was painful for the victim.

"Grishaaaa..." Suddenly Karol's faint voice whispered, her eyes fluttering open to meet Grisha's gaze. He sat on a stool beside her bed, his eyes downcast, while Jacob sat on the other side, his face etched with worry.

Grisha's gaze snapped up to meet Karol's, his eyes locking onto hers," Please... Take care of jac.... Jacob and Mikasa... They are my everything." Grisha replied with a gentle smile,"Don't worry, Karol. Once you're all healed up, you can take care of them all you want. Just don't give up. Keep fighting."

Karol's lips curled into a weak smile before her eyes drifted shut again. Jacob's voice was barely above a whisper. "Hey, doc, isn't there anything else we could do for her?"

The doctor's expression was grim. "No... We've tried everything. She'll frequently lose consciousness, and I fear she might slip away while sleeping."

Jacob's smile was tinged with sadness. "Well, I suppose that would be a mercy. She won't have to endure more pain... I should probably call Mikasa to talk to her one last time."

Grisha nodded, his eyes welling up with tears as he gestured to Carla, who was sleeping on the couch in front of them. He approached her, gently shaking her awake, so she could say her goodbyes, knowing she might not get another chance. The room was heavy with the weight of impending loss, as they all struggled to come to terms with the possibility of a future without Karol.

Carla's eyes fluttered open, grogginess giving way to alarm as she took in the somber scene before her. Grisha's gentle shake turned into a supportive embrace, as he whispered, "It's time, Carla."

With a nod, Carla rose from the couch, her movements slow, as if weighed down by the gravity of the moment. Grisha supported her weak body running on low blood amount. Carla's eyes were dead seeing her only family on the death bed. Jacob stood, his eyes never leaving Karol's frail form, as he whispered, "I'll go get Mikasa."

The silence that followed was oppressive, punctuated only by Karol's labored breathing. Grisha held Carla's hand, his eyes locked onto Karol's face, willing her to stay with them.

Mikasa's arrival was heralded by the soft creak of the door. Her eyes, red-rimmed from crying, fixed onto Karol, as she rushed to her side. "Mother..."

Karol's eyes flickered open, a faint smile on her lips. "Mikasa... my child..."

The room dissolved into a blur of tears, whispers, and desperate goodbyes, as the family clung to each other, cherishing the fleeting moments they had left.

Mikasa's voice trembled as she spoke, her words tumbling out in a rush. "Mother, don't leave me. Please, don't go. I'll do anything, just stay with me."

Karol's gaze, weak but full of love, locked onto Mikasa's face. "My child... I'm so proud of you. You're strong, brave... and kind. Don't forget that. Take care of your dad for me."

Grisha's grip on Carla's hand tightened, his eyes brimming with tears. Jacob's face was etched with sorrow, his eyes fixed on Karol tears dreaming down his red eyes.

With a Herculean effort, Karol raised her hand, her fingers brushing against Mikasa's cheek. "Remember... always remember... I love you."

Mikasa's body shook, her sobs echoing through the room. "I love you too, Mother. I'll always remember."

Karol's gaze shifted to her husband as she barely whispered," Ja... Jacob..." Jacob replied as he cleared his tears," Karol... I'm sorry it's all my fault." Karol nodded in disagreement her voice cracking," darling... Thank you for everything.. for marrying me, for spending time with me and for being by my side... I love you Jacob." Karol wanted to talk more but her body didn't allow.

As the family held each other, Karol's eyes drifted shut, her chest rising and falling with shallow breaths. The silence that followed was oppressive, punctuated only by the sound of their grief.

And then, in an instant, it was over. Karol's body relaxed, her face serene. The room seemed to hold its breath, as if waiting for a miracle that would never come.

Grisha's voice, barely audible, whispered the words they all knew. "She's gone...." Soon the room was filled with chaos– screams and cries filled the air. Jacob unable to accept reality got up and his trembling hands started giving his dead wife a CPR.

Their dry lips connecting but it seemed it was all futile. But maybe just maybe somehow and someone could do something for her.

Jacob's desperate attempts to revive Karol were a chaotic mix of hope and anguish. With every forceful compression of her chest, he seemed to battle against the very reality that she might be lost. Mikasa's grief was raw and unrestrained as she pressed her lips against her mother's cold cheeks, her sobs mingling with Jacob's frenzied efforts. Carla's distress was palpable, her pleas for Karol to stay echoing in the room.

Grisha's silence was heavy, marked by tears that flowed unchecked. The scene seemed grim until a faint sign of life. Suddenly Grisha's gaze fell on Karol and her faint breath. "Wait what just happened." Grisha thought as he looked up to Jacob who was still forcing air into Karol.

"Jacob wait let me check." Grisha said as he checked her pulse. "She's alive?!" Grisha whispered... "but how I saw her die then how... maybe it's because of Jacob.." Jacob smiled but he knew that he had dragged her pain.

Karol's barely perceptible breathing—hinted at a slim chance of survival but was it worth it wasn't it better if she died early instead of dying again due to pain. Why won't they let her go?

Just then, the door burst open, and Eren, flanked by the Levi squad and a team of doctors from Mitras, rushed in.

Eren's eyes were fierce with determination and tired due to lack of sleep with dark circles surrounding them. He had pushed himself to the brink, seeking out every possible option to save Karol, even arranging for a heart transplant if necessary. His presence and the arrival of the medical team offered a glimmer of hope in the bleak situation.

"Eren..." Mikasa's voice was a whisper, her tearful gaze locked onto him. Eren's face, a mask of controlled emotion, softened for a moment before he turned to the team.

"Give us some space," he ordered firmly, though his own voice betrayed the strain he felt inside. Levi's authoritative tone cut through the tension as he directed the doctors.

" What the hell are you waiting for huh! Get started," Levi commanded. The doctors, taking their cue, sprang into action with practiced efficiency. Equipment was swiftly set up, and the team began their urgent efforts to stabilize and treat Karol, their focus sharp and their movements coordinated.

As the medical team worked, Jacob, Mikasa, and Carla stood by, their emotions a tumultuous blend of hope and dread. The outcome was uncertain, but the arrival of the doctors had provided a crucial opportunity—a chance, however slim, for Karol to survive.

"Master Eren, I recommend we proceed with the heart surgery," one of the doctors said urgently. "Her breathing is faint, and her heart muscles are severely infected."

Eren's nod was resolute. "If that's what it takes, then proceed. Make sure she survives—I don't want any room for error."

Despite his commanding tone, Eren's exhaustion was palpable. He stood beside the doctors as they prepared to cut open Karol, his gaze fixed on the scene with a mix of hope and desperation. Meanwhile, Carla, Mikasa, Jacob and Grisha had retreated to Mikasa's room, where Petra was providing vital support. Petra was offering blood to Carla, who was on the verge of collapsing from fatigue.

Levi, his own exhaustion evident but tempered by his stoic demeanor, approached Eren. "You should rest. I'll handle things here."

Eren shook his head firmly. "No, I need to see this through to the end. I won't be able to face my family otherwise."

Levi sighed but understood. "Fine, but at least go and check on them."

Eren agreed, his resolve unshaken as he made his way upstairs, leaving the surgery to unfold while he sought solace and strength from those he cared about.

As Eren ascended the stairs with heavy steps, his mind torn between the urgency of the surgery and the need to be with his family. Reaching their quarters, he found Mikasa's room in a state of quiet despair. Petra was by Carla's side, administering blood and offering comfort.

Grisha stood beside the window gazing out into the night sky, marveling at how the day had slipped away in a wink of an eye.

Meanwhile, Mikasa sat on her bed, her long hair framing her face, which was ravaged by tears and exhaustion from lack of food.

Carla seeing Eren by the door tried to speak, her voice weak. "Eren... Son... you've..."

But Eren interrupted, concern etched on his face. "Hey, Mom, rest now. We'll talk later."

Carla smiled faintly before lying back on the couch. Petra who donated 2 blood bottles excused herself, ruffling Eren's hair before leaving the room.

Grisha approached Eren, embracing him tightly. "I'm so proud of you, son. You've become our hope. I think Karol might make it because of you."

Eren hugged him back, smiling. "You've been through a lot, Dad. It's about time you rest and let me take over. I'll ensure she receives the best care."

Grisha nodded, his eyes shining with determination. "I appreciate that, Eren, but as a doctor, my duty is to save lives. I won't rest until I know Karol is safe."

With that, Grisha followed Jacob out of the room, both men grateful to Eren for his efforts.

Eren approached Mikasa cautiously, sitting beside her on the bed. The silence between them was oppressive, and he struggled to find the right words. "Hey, Mikasa, how are you?"

Mikasa's gaze snapped towards him, her eyes blazing with a mix of emotions. "Eh? Fuck you, Yeager! Of course, she won't be feeling well! The last few weeks have been hell for them!"

Eren winced, cursing himself for his thoughtless words. Mikasa's tears began to flow again, her grey eyes overflowing with grief her teeth clenched.

"Eren... Eren..." she whispered, her voice cracking as she flung her arms around him, her grip tight.

Eren's eyes widened as he struggled to breathe, but he couldn't complain. Mikasa's energy was surprising, considering her exhaustion.

"Mom... is she going to be alright?" Mikasa's voice was muffled against his chest.

Eren's thoughts shifted from his own discomfort to Mikasa's words. "Don't worry, Mikasa... Aunt Karol will be alright. She'll be back on her feet soon."

He tried to sound reassuring, but his voice was strained from Mikasa's tight grip he thought that he might get strangled to death.

Eren wrapped one arm around Mikasa's waist and the other around her silky hair, holding her close as she burst into tears. Her cries filled the entire house, heart-wrenching and uncontrollable. Eren comforted her, whispering softly, "Don't worry, Mikasa... it'll be alright."

All Eren could say was "don't worry" or "it'll be alright". But he knew he couldn't make any promises, fake or otherwise. He was unsure of the situation himself, and the uncertainty gnawed at him.

Mikasa cried until exhaustion took over, her small body trembling as she fell asleep in Eren's arms. He gently laid her down on the bed, covering her with a blanket, and wiped the tears from her cheeks.

With a heavy heart, Eren left the room, letting Mikasa sleep, her fragile form a reminder of the fragility of hope in the face of uncertainty. He closed the door softly behind him, the silence a stark contrast to the storm of emotions that had ravaged the room.

Eren descended the stairs, his eyes scanning the room below. Levi stood alongside Jacob, Grisha, and Petra, their faces etched with concern and fatigue. The doctors worked tirelessly in the adjacent room, their skilled hands moving with precision as they performed the delicate surgery.

Eren approached the doctors, his voice low and urgent. "How's the situation? Will she make it out alive?"

The doctors exchanged a glance, their faces grim. "We're doing our best, Master Eren, but it's not just up to us. It depends on Karol's body, whether it accepts the new heart or not. There's always a risk of organ rejection, and we can't predict how her body will react."

Note: I'm not a professional myself but there's a thing called Tissue rejection in which the body doesn't accept the organ that's transplanted from the donor to the receiver apparently beacuse of different blood groups.

Eren nodded, aware of the risks. He knew about organ rejection, where the body refused to accept the transplanted organ. It was a constant fear in such surgeries, and he couldn't shake off the feeling of uncertainty.

The doctors continued their work, their focus solely on saving Karol's life. Hours ticked by, the night wearing on, as they labored to connect the blood vessels and ensure the heart functioned properly. The tension in the room was palpable, the weight of their task hanging in the balance.

Finally, after an eternity, the doctors stepped back, exhausted but triumphant. The heart was pumping blood successfully, Karol's body accepting the transplant. The room erupted into cheers as the morning sun started to rise through the horizon. Her breathing made Jacob burst into tears but the doctors didn't allow them to meet not yet. With proper medication she'll be better in no time.

"Master Eren, we've done everything we can, and despite the slim chances, she's pulled through," the doctor said, relief etched on his face. "However, her recovery will be long and arduous. I recommend at least six months of bed rest before she can resume any strenuous activities."

"As for the medication she have to make sure that she takes her pills every single day. It's really really important for her body or else she might be in danger again. Well make sure to visit her every month." One of the doctors said.

Eren nodded gratefully, leading the doctors to the door and discreetly handing them a pouch of gold coins. Only Levi seemed to notice the exchange, his expression unreadable.

As the doctors departed, Jacob approached Eren, his eyes brimming with tears. "Son, thank you... You're a lifesaver, an angel. I don't know how many times you've protected us, and I can never repay your kindness."

Eren chuckled, reassuring him with a warm smile. "Don't worry, Uncle. I've got your back."

He placed his hands on Jacob's shoulders, his voice filled with conviction. "Now, it's your turn to take care of Mikasa and Aunt Karol. My parents will visit frequently, and I'll make sure to drop by regularly with the medicine she needs."

Jacob nodded, his face etched with gratitude, as Eren continued, "We'll get through this together, as a family."

Just as Eren thought he'd held on long enough, his exhaustion finally caught up with him, and the world around him began to spin. Levi grabbed him, concern etched on his face. "You alright, Eren?"

Eren nodded, reassuring him with a weak smile. "Yeah, I'm fine. Don't worry."

The Levi Squad, now refreshed from their earlier rest, entered the room, and Petra broke the news to them. Levi's gaze shifted from his squad to Eren, his expression firm. "We'll head back to Odel now. You rest here for now, Eren."

But Eren shook his head, knowing he couldn't stay. "No, I'll come along. I'll rest in the cart."

Grisha and Jacob tried to persuade him to stay, but Eren was resolute. He knew his duty as a scout couldn't wait, and he needed to be with his squad. "I'll visit you in two weeks with the next set of medicines. They only last that long, so I'll be the supplier. I already go the list from the doctors I'll give you one and the amounts she needs to take everyday."

"Okay thanks son." Jacob said his gaze shifting at Grisha," hey doc is it alright if I just see her for sometime." Jacob asked dying to be with Karol. Grisha with a wide smile agreed as the two men entered the room.

Levi with a small smile on his face said,

" Great job Eren I'm proud." Eren nodded with a slight blush," thanks Levi but it wasn't possible without you and the rest." Levi now said "Alright, let's move out."

With that, the squad began to prepare for their departure, leaving Grisha and Jacob to care for Karol. Eren steeled himself for the journey ahead, his exhaustion momentarily forgotten in the face of his responsibilities.

As the scouts marched forward, the rising sun cast a warm, golden glow upon the fields, illuminating the dew-kissed grass and casting long shadows behind them. The loud thudding of the horses' hooves grew fainter, gradually fading into the horizon as they disappeared into the vast expanse of the landscape.

The sound of their departure lingered in the air, a distant echo that slowly dissolved into the serene silence of the morning. The only remnants of their presence were the gentle wisps of dust kicked up by their horses, slowly settling back onto the earth as the stillness of the dawn reclaimed the land.

And so, the scouts vanished into the distance, leaving behind a trail of promise and uncertainty, their journey onward shrouded in the mystery of the unknown.
