Under the veil of night, Eren and Levi infiltrated the heavily guarded manor, their stealthy footsteps echoing through the shadows. They had successfully reached the noble's chambers, where the fat noble begged for mercy, his voice trembling.
"Please, I beg you, I'm innocent! I would never dare conspire with Kenny the Ripper to loot the treasure!" He bowed, his eyes pleading, as Eren and Levi stood unmoved.
But their orders were clear, and the noble's words fell on deaf ears. Eren's blade flashed in the dim light, slicing through the noble's throat with deadly precision. Blood burst forth, and the noble's body crumpled to the ground.
Levi's expression conveyed disappointment. "At least you should've heard him out." Eren nodded, his face unyielding. "I know, but his act of innocence was grating on my nerves."
With their mission accomplished, they turned towards the broken window, their escape route. Levi led the way, climbing onto the roof as Eren followed, their footsteps silent on the moonlit tiles.
In a dark valley, they met the king's knight, who handed them a bag of melee diamonds, his last words lingering in the air. "This was your last assassination. It has been an honor working with humanity's strongest soldier and his disciple."
Eren and Levi departed, vanishing into the night, their footsteps swallowed in the moonlight. Though concerned about the noble's final words, they knew their duty was done.
Under the moon's silvery gaze, they reached the Odel district, their exhaustion palpable. Without a word, they retired to their quarters, their sleep a well-deserved respite from the darkness they had faced. Though Eren decided to write letter to Carla that his mission was successful and he'll focus on his training from now on.
The night flew by, and the Ackermans gathered in the training field, ready to start their daily routine. "Alright, Eren, let's check your balance with the gear first," Levi said, turning the lever to lift Eren upwards. A special maneuvering belt was tied to his waist, attached to two metal ropes connected to wooden logs.
Eren beamed with excitement, eager to begin training with the ODM gear. "You can do it!" Petra cheered, while Gunther advised, "Focus on your center of mass, and you'll be good to go." Eld and Oluo observed silently.
As the ropes lifted Eren into the air, his balance remained unwavering, a feat only Levi and his squad had achieved before. "Well done, Eren," Levi praised. Eren's eyes sparkling with excitement shouted out loud. "I did it, guys!"
Levi then asked Eren to remove the belt. Eren followed Levi's instructions handing it to him. Levi then requested for a screwdriver from Petra. Petra hurriedly went towards the small cobblestone castle and returned with one, Levi used it to break the clasp of the belt which was used to hold the metal ropes in position for easy maneuvering. "Now try again," Levi said sternly.
Eren protested, "How can I balance without the clasp?" Levi sighed, "What if it breaks during a fight? You'll die and become Titan fodder. Excuses won't work in real combat."
Eren realized Levi's point and donned the belt again. However, with a shattered clasp, he lost balance and fell to the ground, his head slamming against the earth. "Aghhh!" he grunted.
Levi lowered him, saying, "I want you to master gear maneuvering... Try again if you want to fight alongside me and my squad." Eren continued, despite failing repeatedly, his enthusiasm was unwavering.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, Levi's squad begged him to stop, but Eren pleaded for one last chance. Levi seeing the squad agreed," Eren that's enough for today." Eren despite hitting the ground repeatedly and his head bleeding profusely requested,"Please, Levi, I can't give up. I know I can do it." Eren said, his green eyes shining with unshed tears.
Levi, about to leave, turned to Eren with a piercing gaze," Fine then this is your last chance." Levi asked him"Eren, are you ready?" Eren's response was a fierce cry: "Yes!" He thought to himself, "I have to do this... I have to succeed."
With a deep sigh, Eren asked Petra to rotate the lever, slowly lifting him above the ground. As he hovered in mid-air, he steeled himself: "I may not be as talented as the rest of the squad, but nobody.. nobody has more guys, I won't give up not without a fight!" Eren straightened his back and legs, using his arms to balance.
With a triumphant "Haaa!" Eren finally grasped the technique his gaze meeting Levi's who smiled, impressed. "So you've figured it out, Eren... You need to use your back to maneuver a gear with a broken clasp." Levi explained, as Petra lowered Eren to the ground, congratulating him along with the rest of the squad.
Eren beamed with pride, feeling a sense of accomplishment wash over him. "Thanks, Levi! I couldn't have done it without you." Levi nodded, his expression softening slightly. "You're a quick learner, Eren. But remember, there's always room for improvement."
Petra patted Eren on the back. "Well done Eren. Now we can go on expeditions together." Gunther and Eld nodded in agreement, while Oluo cracked a rare smile.
As the squad began to disperse, Levi called out, "Eren, one more thing." Eren turned to face him, curious. "What is it, Levi?"
Levi's gaze turned serious. "Don't get too cocky. We've got a long way to go before we can take on the Titans. Keep your guard up and your wits about you."
Eren nodded solemnly, taking Levi's words to heart. He knew that he still had a lot to learn, but with Levi's guidance and the support of the squad, he felt a sense of determination and purpose.
As the sun dipped below the horizon, the squad headed back to their quarters, exhausted but exhilarated from the day's training. Eren lagged behind, lost in thought, his mind racing with the challenges ahead.
But for the first time in a long time, he felt a glimmer of hope. Maybe, just maybe, he could make a difference in this world. Maybe he could help reclaim their world from the Titans.
