The gunshot brought me back to reality. I almost killed one of Victor's men on my first day in the house. How could I have been so stupid?
I let go of the napkin allowing his unconscious body to fall to the floor. As I looked back at Victor, I expected to see the look of the devil on his face. Instead, he looked almost proud.
"Take his ass to Emilia." Victor said as he waved his hand. Two men dragged him out as I stood straight. "Now does anyone have a problem with Ms. Marino being a recruit?" The question was answered with utter silence. "Then let's eat."
Per his command, everyone returned to their own conversation as if nothing had occurred. I took my seat next to Victor as Lewis - Alto - took his seat to the left of me.
"Well," Alto whispered to me. "You've definitely given us the most eventful recruitment dinner in the history of Valentinos. I'm impressed." He compliment earned a smile from me.
