Chapter 15 - Do You Wanna Build A Snowman?

One.

Two.

Three.

One.

Two.

Three...

She was till waving at her.

"Bloody bastard."

Amanise muttered. Still counting seconds. Will the girl ignore her? She sure hoped so.

If not there was a high chance she would die.

Ironically, she got her answer.

Her legs began to move.

Towards her.

The monster.

Crossing the side walk.

'No way.'

She tried to scream but her lips didn't budge. Like it had been sewn shut.

When she looked at back at the girl.

The creepy pale girl was smiling.

Twin hollow pools of obsidian, reflecting untethered raving madness.

Her eyes was changing.

It was bigger and bigger.

The colour of her pupils engulfing the whites of her eyes.

Her smile revealing jagged inhuman rolls of teeth.

'Oh my God.'

The girl then turned moving into the slums' dark alley. Her white gangly spindle-shanked lower limbs awkwardly stuck by her sides.

'That girl is certainly not normal.'

Every instinct embedded in her cells screamed to flee. The fear was feral. She forgot to breathe.

How to think.

She was drowning again.

Is this how I die?

What will my family say...

Oh.

I forgot.

I don't have anyone.

Who will miss me. Who will remember me when I am gone.

No one will cry for me at my funeral.

Oh wait... I'm getting ahead of myself, again.

My body will be left on the road to rot.

People will walk over it. Spit on it.

Or force themselves to throw it away.

Because I disgust them.

I'll never find out what brought that monster to my world.

I'll never find out if maybe he is still alive.

Or how I could avenge him. If he is truly dead.

I'm weak.

Why am I so weak?

Amanise's feet trudged the muddy floor of the dimly lit alley.

It was deserted, for some reason no one was using this route.

So she couldn't call for help.

Darkness veiled the slums from the sun resting for the day.

The girl wandered the twisted alleys moving deeper and deeper into the slums.

Her bare feet as silent as death.

They reached a narrow junction filled with crumbling abandoned buildings.

Claw marks etched deep into the walls. Somewhat stained with blood.

Under the dim light, She shuddered when she saw something seemingly like a pile of human skulls and limbs scattered around.

There were gangs widespread around Alvaron. Depending on their Class, how much power and ammunition they held.

Poor folks with no means of survival were forced to join depending their situation. A sort of brotherhood when they protected each other from other gangs while rummaging for necessities usually by force from the peasants.

Theft and sometimes murder.

The bigger the gang, the bigger their troubles.

The gangs were a nuisance to the nobles. Albeit as a public front. Likewise peasants unless you joined one.

That was what Amanise remembered from Soren's memories. It was the only logical explanation. A slum gang was massacred. For the news not to spread quickly the gang was probably small-scaled.

It also meant that if a miracle didn't occur any moment from now she would be amongst the pile of chewed bones.

[A threat against the host's life has been detected.]

[Monster Description: The Host doesn't deserve to know. ]

[Danger Level: High>>Impossible.

Survive. Good luck! ]

Amanise momentarily paused, dumbfounded at the dark luminous floating runes infront of her.

The mechanical voice grated in her ears but was impossible to believe.

She reread what was infront of her this time compelling herself to comprehend what it was actually saying.

'Are you mocking me?'

Her thoughts were only met with silence.

'Seriously?! You are ignoring me right now?'

If it wasn't for the fact she could still see the runes, she would have thought she had finally ran mad in the face of death.

'I don't deserve to know?! Don't you know that, that information might save my arse?! Stupid Cheapskate!'

[I'm only following orders as your System. You are not authorized to know that.]

'Why?!'

[You are weak.]

Amanise felt her vision blacken in indignation.

'So I have a system. A cheat code in a game and I can't even access the benefits because I'm weak?!'

[Exactly! I'm glad we are on the same page but may I remind you. You are about to die.]

'What?'

A metal pole flew speedily towards her face.

Her body instinctively moved, dodging. She escaped with a scrape by the side of her head.

Tossing herself like a rag doll to the side. Amanise found herself pressed against the damp brick wall. Her breathe increasingly shallow.

Her limping leg and body screamed in agony.

Her chest heaved as she violently started coughing.

Covering her mouth with her hand and another clutching her chest. When she removed her hand from her mouth.

She saw blood.

Forcing herself through the pain to be aware of her surroundings.

The girl had long turned, looking at her. This time a despicable rage replaced her eeriely smile. Her skin looked more ashen under the moonlight.

I am free.

I can move my body.

She lifted her hands touching her face in startled realisation.

Flinching at the cut she grazed by the side of her head.

Her eyes strayed to the puddle beside her. The moonlight reflecting back.

When did the moon come out?

She saw herself staring back at her in horror. The whites of her bloody skull displaying from where the cut caused by the metallic pole was thrown at her.

The cloak was torn from the hood.

Revealing her pale face and eeriely vermillion eyes, looking more bloody than usual.

At a glance she looked like an unstable voodoo doll that crawled out from a horror movie to reap people of their souls.

The thought alone frightened her.

Focus.

She'd regained control of her body. The Monster purposely let her.

Why?

The Monster could have easily finished her off but it chose not to.

Why?!

Her eyes widened in horror. Understanding flickered those bloody orbs.

Her gaze connecting to the Monster's.

The Monster seemingly knew what she was thinking.

It flashed her a big smile. Revealing it's elongated, jagged teeth.

Like it was receiving a gift on Christmas' morning.

The Monster loves to toy with its victims.

It wants to play with me then kill me in despair. Like a cat toying with it's meal, the mouse.

The feeling of helplessness immobilised her. It was a flood of caging emotions. Filling her with despair. Murdering any slight hope that she could survive. Snuffing every lit candle in her soul.

Leaving her feeling strangely betrayed and empty.

It lasted for a second but to Amanise it felt like a lifetime.

Then there was...

Anger.

All consuming, devouring her with hatred and rage.

It was monsters like these that made her lose her best friend.

Her Mother.

If she was going to die she was taking this bitch with her.

She reached for the ground forcing her body to stand up.

Feeling the gaze of the monster, watching her every move.

She then threw the expensive cloak Hamlin lent her, to the side.

Her black clothes blending in the shadows. Her vermillion eyes the only thing eminent in the dark.

" Why didn't you finish me off?"

Amanise slides out her dagger from it's leathered sheath. Rays of bluish-white light reflecting back from the blade to her face.

Subtly, licking the blade.

"Blood is sweeter when spiced with despair.... I want to eat you.. No! I mean meet you. Let's be friends...For..ever. United inside me!"

Unlike the monster in her dreams. The girl's voice started off normally before it warped into something forbidden and sinister fueled with inhibited glee.

As if she was flunctuating between sanity and utter madness.

Amanise stilled in surprise, she didn't think it would respond back.

On understanding what it was saying.

Her body belted backwards, laughing hysterically.

"United? You want us United? I'm flattered you are trying to make yourself sound human. But bitch... You sound pathetic. Look at this moron! She wants us United!"

The creepy girl opened her mouth widely, letting out warbled noises. Something was tearing out its way from her body out her mouth.

A large bloody inhuman hand, few feets tall escaped. Then another and another ripping it's way out giving birth to something.

Its humanoid grotesque form slithered ahead, eyes that seemed to pulse with malevolence.

Amanise kept laughing and laughing.

Her snake-like curls seemingly coming alive.

When she stopped.

She looked up to see the monster towering above her with no where to escape.

She felt terror crawl her spine at the face of death. But another thing made her heart race.

It was the thrill of bringing this monster down along with her.

A spiteful grudge she has for what had been snatched away from her.

So she said anything that came to mind.

Her eyes equally mirroring the same madness and dark cynical, malevolence.

"So you want us to be United? Well the only way we can be... United... Is your dead blood mixed with mine as we fight to our deaths. While we are at it Bitch...Do you wanna build a snowman?"
