Chapter 1 - Crazy.

Splash!

Gasping heavily, she sprung up from the increasingly soaked, worn-out brownish-white sheets that had aged remarkably with time and was in a serious need to be dumped as trash.

Her chest heaved up and down. Droplets of water trickling down from her hair joining the drenched clothes on her body.

For a moment she couldn't process anything. Her mind was blank in contrast to the goosebumps coating her skin reacting to the cold breeze and tingling underlying alertness.

Her wet, short lashes fluttered open revealing a pair of lusterless dark eyes momentarily obscured by trickles of water on her lashes. Instinctively, her hands rose up to her face cleaning the water.

Zoning into the awareness of her surroundings. The mocking laughter that spiked...

Dread.

It was all she felt.

She hadn't needed to open her eyes to know what monster was infront of her.

Why?!

Why now?! Today of all days?!

Just a single moment of peace was all she asked for?!

Involuntarily her body as if programmed, her heartbeats quickened. Hitting bango drums in her ears. Her hands left her face bunching her raven black hair squeezing and ripping. Her body nestled away from the monsters. Her fists clenching tightly in her hair.

Please.

"Stay away from me!!"

Her voice violently screeched. Her eyes violently shook open once more.

She saw three older girls towering over her.

Their leader, nineteen years old Jamil the only girl who wasn't an orphan in the Mistorn Orphanage and also well the one with the most power because her father, a widower was Mistorn's owner.

The beautiful blonde's smug face twisted in disgust at her outburst. The two girls behind her gritting their teeths to surprise their rage.

For a lowly rat gaining back her voice...

Jamil slammed the iron bucket she held in her grip to her face.

She tried to protect her face but it was too late. The iron bucket connected to her face. She stumbled uncontrollably to the floor feeling weak for having not eaten in days.

Her old knife cut wound that ran across her hollow cheeks reopened again. Blood flowing out.

It hurts. It hurts. It hurts. It hurts.

It hurts so much.

Tears sprang out from her eyes. Blurring her vision. She felt a bruised cut forming on her lips. Running her tongue on it the sting delighted and discomforted her.

Pain made her feel somewhat alive.

And ever since seven years ago.

That day that ran so fresh in her mind.

The pain, the suffering, the agony. None of them ever faded away.

It was as fresh and painful as it first was.

No.

It was much more heartwrenching and scarring.

It always came back.

As nightmares more horrifying and bloody than it ever was.

It haunted her Being...

She felt empty since then.

Questioning if she ever existed. Whether she was dead. Or why she was still living.

So she derived pleasure from the pain these monsters gave her.

It answered questions.

She was alive and she was suffering for that sole reason.

The iron bucket was tossed to the floor clanging terribly loud as it landed.

The reverberating sound made her heart skip a shuddering beat.

Her body recoiling away.

" Oh come on. If you were going to fight. Why don't you put it up till the end, Crazy?"

Crazy's chapped lips trembled. Fear pooling her lusterless gaze. Gritting her teeth tightly.

She knew she should keep quiet to let this moment pass but something inside her. Something that never really died. Something she couldn't put a name to.

And tried to kill as long as she remembered.

Willed her to fight.

Demanded her to. Despite her better judgement.

It was one of the reason she was most bullied in Mistorn. She always put up with a fight no matter what.

Standing abruptly she shoved Jamil to the floor like a starved beast.

The girls beside her were too stunned to move. Jamil grunted back a scream from the pain her body received slamming on the floor.

Not giving her enough time to react.

Crazy sunk her teeth deep into Jamil's collarbone tearing out a bit of flesh with her teeth while digging her long clawlike nails to her face.

Jamil screamed trying to writhing her way out.

The two girls were screaming.

Crazy was too preoccupied with inflicting pain she didn't know what exactly they were saying.

But the iron bucket violently hit her back over and over again with something heavier too said a lot.

She vomited out blood.

Hers mixed with Jamil's own.

And the bits of flesh trapped on her teeth didn't appeal to her.

But instead of letting go her grip tightened.

Her head felt lightweighted and dizzy as she felt something hit the back of her head.

She screamed on Jamil's skin.

Digging her nails deeper into flesh along with her teeth.

Jamil who was struggling beneath her slowly stopped moving.

There were heavy rushed footsteps coming upstairs to the attic that belonged to her. Her very own room far away from the crowded orphan's moderately furnished bedroom.

No one wanted to stay with her. According to them, she was a psychotic lunatic. A mentally deranged girl that didn't need a home but a psychiatric hospital.

Well she wasn't sure how true it was.

Crazy had become her name since seven years ago that she had forgotten her real name.

The name her mother whispered lovingly in her ears as laid to sleep on her bed after reading her bedtime stories. The memory of her mother's face had faded and gone. But not her warmth and concern.

It was one of the things that kept her sane. Though she had forgotten everything she ever said

She never tried to remember with the fear that it won't come out twisted and raving that it never was.

Corrupting the sacred memory of her.

It would break her.

The door of the attic that was filled with rodents, cockroaches and spiders...

Her not so friendly roommates, slammed open rattling the attic with the force.

"Sir Berth! It's Crazy she's killing Jamil!"

One of the girls hurriedly stuttered in tears.

Crazy rose her head a bit. Watching with a bland look in contrast to the blood stains on her lips and teeth.

There was unifying gasp and shudder.

She could feel and sense their emotions.

She could see it.

Fear. Terror. Disgust and Anger.

Boiling rage.

The rage spiked fear in her.

A tall built man well into his late forties towered above her his familiar face scrunched up in detest and fear. His fist rose up speedily moving to her face.

She let out an inhuman shriek. Feeling her nose break and blood spilling.

Her vision turned black instantly.

She saw herself once more in a familiar bedroom that was filled with warmth and love.

Which was hers.

At least once hers seven years ago.

Thunder struck outside the window.

A woman sat on a rocking chair. The one her mother usually sat at to read her a bedtime story before the incident seven years ago.

Instead of her mother rocking the chair.

It was replaced with a harrowing skeleton in a black nightgown.

Staring down at her with a hollow smile. Holding a thick worn out red book.

That depicted a poisoned apple encased in thorns.

The skeleton head smoothly cracked to the side.

Albeit too smoothly, then asked her.

"Do you wanna play a game?"

Her nightmare had begun...

Again.
