The Year 2068 in Neo Gotham

"Terrance? Terry? You're going to be late for school!" Seventeen year old Terry Mcginnis quickly looked at his alarm clock before getting up. Quickly he got changed into his normal jeans and shirt before wearing his light brown leather jacket. Opening the door, he grabbed his bag. Before he could rush out, he was called out by his father. No doubt another lecture, Terry thought in his mind before walking over to the breakfast table. Warren Mcginnis was drinking from his coffee cup, looking at the paper before he glanced at Terry, "Listen Terence this is your first day back after being suspended" 

"Dad, you have to listen to me, I"

"No, I don't want to hear it. Just be on your best behavior. Understood?" Warren said sharply.

Terry just let out a sigh, "Yes sir" he picked up his bag again before leaving his apartment. He knew it was pointless. He and his father have not had a good relationship throughout his life. Terry blamed his job. His father was always busy working at Wayne Enterprises and never having time for him. His mother and him always gotten along better. She was home most of the time, taking care of the place. Terry always had gotten in trouble since he was thirteen. When he first got expelled for having a fight with a bully he couldn't stop beating on. He had to spend the whole summer making up the work. It was even worse for Mcginnis, last year, when he stood up against Nash Thomas, who was picking on someone. He punched him so hard, his nose broke. Terry this time got suspended and did his work at home, so he wouldn't miss the grade. He blamed his parents, but really deep down he blamed himself. The only good person in his life was Dana Tan. They have been together since the first year of high school. No matter what happened, Dana would always take his side. Terry went outside to catch the subway. He thought he was going to miss it, but made it on time. It would be a couple minutes till he reached the school, so he just sat around patiently, until a Jokerz showed up in a green jacket and a clown mask, trying to cause trouble.

Terry remembers hearing about the group called the Jokerz. It was a gang that followed the original Jokers footsteps by terrorizing the people in Neo-Gotham. This one was harassing an old lady for money. He even started by pulling out his pocket knife and moving it across the elderly's face without scratching her skin. Terry, not wanting to see the old lady terrified, walked up to the gangster, "Hey back off" he said politely, not wanting to start a fight, however the Jokerz smiled in a sinister way, "Why don't you just smile" the clown tried to swing his knife at Terry, who just dodge. Mcginnis quickly grabbed his arm and punched him straight in the face. Then grabbed onto the polls connected to the subway and kicked the clown by the door. 

The subway opened and he ran. Lucky for Terry, his time in juvie helped him with his training. He turned to the old lady he saved and she offered him money, but Terry politely declined. He just picked up his bag and left the station as quickly as possible. Lucky for him, he made it into Gotham High before the first bell range. 

"Terry?" a voice called for him. It was Dana. She wore a blue dress and had dark hair like Terry. With her was their friend Maxine Gibson. She always prefered to go by the name Max instead. A female their age with short pink hair. Terry was happy to see them, Dana in particular, "Dara hey" he kissed her on the cheek. Seeing her always brightened his day. He then turned to Max, then hugged her, "Max how was your trip to Central City?" 

"It went well. FInally got to see the Flash in action"

"Get an autograph from her?" he teased in a friendly way. Dana then elbowed his arm. 

"Sadly not, but I saw her in action. She is a real badass"

"Speaking of heroes. Where's ours?" Dana asked. Both Terry and Max are puzzled. "Do you mean Batman? He hasn't been seen in this city in over twenty years" Terry responded. 

"What do you think happened to him?" Dana wondered, looking at Terry and Max. Both triggered their shoulders.

Terry answered, "Who knows most likely dead. He was around for a very long time, likely some killed him" the three started walking, when Terry accidentally bumped into someone. It was Nash, his old bully. Nash looked strong, tall, and muscular. He was with his girlfriend Chelsea, who cheered for the high school football team. Nash turned to Terry, who wasn't happy to see him, "Well, Well look who showed up" he gave Terry a smirk that would provoke him into a fight. Terry looked like he was going to fall for it until Dana got in the middle, "Come on Terr. Not this again"

"Come on Nash really?" Chelsea wanted the same thing as Dana. Terry didn't say anything, just ready to fight. 

Before anything could happen, the bell rang for class"Later Mcginnis" he walked off. Dana looked at Terry who just stared at Nash who was walking off with a smirk, "Come on let's go" 

Warren Mcginnis was in his office doing his work at Wayne Enterprise when he suddenly received a phone call. He picked up and answered, not trying to sound too annoyed, "Hello?" 

"Warren?" an old friend answered.

"Harry? What's wrong?" Warren asked his friend concernedly. Harry was a good friend of his at work. Something sounded wrong. He was nervous, which worried Warren.

"Warren, I need your help. Can you meet me somewhere?" 

"Of course, where do you have in mind" 

"Meet me in the Landing?" Harry then quickly hung up the phone. Warren just adjusted his classes, feeling unease, but he got up and left.

Warren went outside to meet Harry on the landing of Wayne Enterprise. He waited several minutes until he heard someone walk from behind. He turned to see it was Harry sweating, "Harry what is going on?" 

Harry was panting, reaching for something in his pocket. It was a disk. He stretched out his hand, "Take this from me" Warren noticed there were spots on his arm, while taking the disk, "What's that on your arm?" he asked suspiciously. Before Harry could answer there were people coming in. It was Derek Powers' assistant Mr Fixx. He had a scar on one side of the eye touching his cheek and he wore one earring on an ear. With him were three guards, "Harry Tully we would like it if you would come with us" they were walking in Harry's direction, which caused the young man to run. This had one of the guards run after him. When he caught up to Harry, he took a pen and jammed it into his neck, causing him to pass out. 

The other two guards came and dragged him away. Warren just watched this whole thing and did nothing. Staring at him was Mr. Fixx, who looked like he had a suspicious look on his face like Warren knew something, but he said nothing other than staring at him. What he didn't notice is that Warren had the desk behind his back, sneaking it into his back pocket, "Is he going to be okay?" Warren had asked, trying to change the subject. Mr Fixx said nothing, instead he turned his back and walked away.

All that Warren could do was watch his friend be taken away. When everyone left, he took the disk out and looked at it, knowing it had something to do with his friend's condition. He put it in his pocket, so no one would notice he had it. Warren then walked out like nothing happened, but he didn't notice that Derek Powers was watching from his office, when all this was going down. All he had was a grin on his face.
