Leaves drifted down from an ancient tree, landing in a muddy puddle below. High above, an airship glided through the sky.
Through the row of windows on the airship, two shadows were visible, moving in opposite directions.
One shadow belonged to Killua, shirtless and seething with anger, while the other belonged to two applicants, friends engaged in conversation.
'Damn it! Now I'm in a bad mood.' Killua shoved both hands into his pant pockets, his frustration palpable.
One of the two applicants accidentally brushed against him. 'Well, I guess there's nothing for it,' he thought.
"Hey, kid! You bump into us and then just walk away?" one of the applicants called out, both now glaring at Killua's retreating figure.
"Bastard!" shouted the one who had bumped into Killua. They both sprinted after him, grabbing his shoulders when they caught up.
Outside the airship, it was clear that three shadows had merged into one.
Blood pooled on the floor as two lifeless bodies slumped behind Killua, their torsos grotesquely mangled, as though they had exploded.
Killua glanced down at his hands, veins bulging, his fingernails transformed into sharp claws capable of tearing through flesh, muscle, and bone with ease.
He had killed them so swiftly that it seemed as if he had never even turned around. 'If I hadn't stopped then, I'd have ended up killing that old man to get the ball.'
Killua walked away, a demonic smile of satisfaction twisting his features—resembling a demon in his dark delight.
Rounding a corner, Killua collided with someone else. "Don't you want to apologize?" Said the voice. Without looking, Killua lashed out again with his altered hand.
Both hands were caught mid-strike. "I was only joking. Haha," came a familiar voice, causing Killua to finally look at the person before him.
The person loosened their grip, allowing Killua to break free and leap back. "I thought you went to sleep?" Killua asked warily. "Haha, I have bad insomnia," was the reply.
'Did he see that I killed them?' Killua wondered. "Don't worry. Don't worry. I don't care what you do as long as you leave Fang and me alone," said the one who had stopped Killua's attack.
Togiri walked past Killua and paused at the bodies of the two applicants that Killua had just killed.
"..."
Without hesitation, Killua lunged at Togiri, his nails aimed directly at the back of Togiri's head. 'Got you!' But just as Killua's claws were about to strike, his vision went black.
"Now, where should I let him sleep?" In the split second before Killua reached him, Togiri had dodged the attack and injected him with one of his sleep syringes. No Nen was necessary.
@Why didn't you knock him out with a neck chop? That would have been badass, but instead, you used your syringe?@
'I didn't want to risk hitting him too hard or too soft; his resistance to poisons means I know he can handle something strong enough to knock out an elephant that would kill regular man.'
Togiri picked up Killua, cradling him like a princess. @Are you gay? Why are you carrying him like that?@ 'He's a professional assassin. If he wakes up in my arms, I'll have full control over his movements.'
'Seven, load up "Virtual Reality Fighting". Avatar Killua, technique Rhythm Echo. The avatar should only perform the technique with a 20-second interval.'
A blue, featureless Killua materialized as Togiri walked, the avatar beginning to circle him, leaving a trail of blue afterimages in its wake.
'Seven, if you had full functionality, could you improve this technique? I noticed something.' @Of course. You could upgrade it beyond the perfectly mastered state, but it's only a low level technique@
