As the electronic voice announced the new SCP, the screen showed a particularly dark doorway. Behind this door was a descending staircase.

Marvel Universe

Rhodey: "Huh? 'Between the Stairs'—what kind of weird name is that?"

Tony Stark: "Rhodey, don't underestimate these SCPs. Each one is a particularly terrifying anomaly."

Bruce Wayne: "Or object."

DC Universe

Bruce Wayne was sharp enough to suspect that this staircase might be another terrifying anomaly, much like the unstoppable knife he kept locked in his highest security vault. But what could a staircase possibly do?

The voice on the screen continued the narration:

"In a certain university, a passageway leading to a dark basement suddenly appeared. No one knows where it came from, as it had never been there before. When someone with enough courage went down to explore, they never returned."

"Later, the university called the police, and a search party was sent in to find the missing person. But even the police officers who entered never came back. This strange occurrence caught the attention of the Foundation, leading them to investigate."

The screen switched to show a heavily armed team cautiously making their way down the pitch-black staircase.

The corridor was so dark that despite the powerful flashlights, they could only see a short distance ahead. They were extremely careful, descending the stairs that seemed to go on forever. By their calculations, they had already descended the equivalent of six or seven stories.

This was puzzling, as the building's architectural plans indicated there was no basement this deep. If they had descended this far, they should have reached the underground parking garage, yet there was no such space below the school.

Moreover, along the walls, they noticed what looked like claw marks made by some kind of beast. This was a clear sign that something else was in there with them.

Suddenly, a faint, sorrowful sobbing sound echoed up from below, sounding like a woman crying.

"Be on alert. Someone's down there," the captain ordered. The team quickened their pace but remained vigilant.

Yet, despite continuing down what felt like endless flights of stairs, the crying seemed no closer. It was as if no matter how much they descended, they could never reach the source.

Marvel Universe

Tony Stark: "What?! An infinitely stacking space! That's impossible! It defies all known physical laws!"

Mordo: "Could it be some form of advanced space-folding magic?"

In Kamar-Taj, Mordo recognized that such infinite spaces could exist through certain complex spatial magic, much like the mirror dimensions controlled by the Ancient One, where space could be manipulated to appear endless.

"It's a shame the Ancient One isn't here to explain this," Strange remarked, glancing toward the Sanctum.

The Ancient One was deeply engrossed in creating new magical practices for Kamar-Taj, harnessing the new sources of power she had discovered. Unless something of great importance occurred, she would not emerge.

One Piece Universe

Chopper: "This is terrifying! It's so dark, and those weird sounds—I'd have run away a long time ago!"

Naruto: "Exactly! That place is definitely haunted!"

Sengoku: "Hold on. Why didn't the missing people try to escape? If continuing downward is endless, surely someone would've tried going back up, right?"

Bruce Wayne: "There's a possibility that going up also leads to an infinite loop."

Orochimaru: "Or, perhaps, there's an unknown creature within that space."

In an underground base, Orochimaru licked his lips as he watched the screen.

"Interesting, an infinite space? It reminds me of the Uchiha clan's Izanami technique, though this isn't an illusion. This screen offers plenty of entertainment."

The screen showed the team still cautiously descending, hearts pounding in their chests. They were fortunate to be in a group—if they were alone, the fear would have likely driven them to madness or made them disobey orders and flee.

Time continued to tick by, with no end in sight. The team knew they had descended far deeper than the school should allow. Yet, the sobbing woman's voice still seemed just as far away.

Even more unsettling was the constant tapping sound on the walls, the source of which remained unseen.

As they prepared to descend yet another flight of stairs, they noticed something standing on the platform below—a human-shaped figure leaning against the wall.

The captain carefully approached the figure.

"Hello? Who are you, and why are you here?"

As he got closer, the flashlight illuminated the figure's form, revealing something terrifying.

The person, if it could still be called that, was completely naked, its muscles severely decayed, hands twisted into claws. Standing over two meters tall, it looked less human and more like a monster.
