The crowd continued to flee from the terrifying scene, but escaping did not eliminate the threat of the Evil God Statue.
Those who had glanced at the statue could not escape their fate. The Evil God Statue would vanish instantly and reappear to kill another person, relentlessly pursuing those who had seen it.
This turned into another major news story in America.
Unexplained chain deaths in the square—was it a ghost attack or a demon's curse, and how was it related to the black dog from hell?
At this moment, the entire United States was in turmoil. The public, shocked by the news, couldn't go about their daily lives, staring in disbelief at the broadcasts.
Simultaneously, a group of protesters gathered at government buildings, demanding action.
Many officials tried to calm the public, promising to handle the situation.
S.H.I.E.L.D.'s phones were ringing off the hook, with numerous leaders demanding to know S.H.I.E.L.D.'s plan.
"We have sent people to handle it, but it takes time!"
Nick Fury yelled repeatedly, while anxiously watching the screen.
He couldn't handle Black Shuck for now, but the Evil God Statue could be stopped as long as someone kept looking at it.
So, Fury asked the leaders to send people to watch the statue, but they found his request unreasonable and refused, frustrating Fury to the point of wanting to punch someone through the phone.
"In that case, wait for my agents to handle it!"
Fury fumed, cutting off the phone lines and focusing on the screen.
Soon, a S.H.I.E.L.D. Quinjet arrived at the square where the Evil God Statue was wreaking havoc.
This sight brought Fury some relief.
"Natasha, it's up to you now."
Fury requested over the intercom.
"No problem."
Natasha responded, donning her Tara mask and summoning the Shadow Ninjas.
"Watch the statue while transporting it to the jet. Don't take your eyes off it, understood?"
Natasha instructed, avoiding looking at the statue herself.
The Shadow Ninjas bowed to Natasha, acknowledging the order, and swiftly approached the Evil God Statue.
By now, the statue had killed many. Observers would notice its eyes seemed to emit a red glow.
"Swoosh swoosh swoosh!!"
As the statue was about to move and kill its next target, the Shadow Ninjas surrounded it, making eye contact to stop its movement.
They then lifted the statue and headed to the Quinjet.
Meanwhile, agents in sunglasses arrived to surround the area, preventing others from seeing the statue and becoming victims.
The crowd, seeing someone handling the situation, grew curious and tried to take pictures but were shooed away by S.H.I.E.L.D. agents.
Soon, a large number of police arrived to maintain order.
Reporters came to interview.
"Can you tell us what's happening? What are you transporting?"
"Who are those ninja-like people?"
"What is that thing? Does it relate to the deaths?"
"Which department are you from?"
The reporters bombarded them with questions, but the agents remained silent, not answering a word.
It wasn't because they were being cool; they themselves didn't know what was happening and opted to stay quiet.
Natasha, monitoring the situation, saw the Shadow Ninjas had loaded the statue onto the jet and breathed a sigh of relief.
"Great. The Shadow Ninjas will continue to watch the statue. Everyone else, do not look at it. Now, return to S.H.I.E.L.D."
Natasha ordered, and the Quinjet took off, flying away.
"Thank goodness for Natasha and her endless Shadow Ninjas."
Nick Fury sighed in relief. One threat was neutralized.
Though the Evil God Statue was eerie, as long as someone watched it, it was harmless and easy to handle.
"How's the research on the Weeping Angel going?"
Fury asked the lab through the intercom.
The response was that they couldn't figure anything out. Without witnessing its abilities, they'd think it was just an ordinary concrete statue.
"Damn, could it be some kind of magic? Should we contact those sorcerers?"
Fury pondered, considering reaching out to the Ancient One and other self-proclaimed sorcerers.
These people were unknown variables, and contacting them was crucial.
"By the way, the Tesseract research you assigned us isn't going smoothly. The cube is highly unstable. Should we continue?"
A researcher mentioned the Tesseract, which Fury had ordered expedited research on after seeing the SCPs' terrifying abilities, hoping to achieve faster-than-light travel like the Kree scientist had.
But the obstacles were immense.
"Continue. Our world isn't safe. We need the Tesseract's power."
Fury urged.
Beyond SCPs, even Asgard was a threat in his eyes. Humanity needed powerful weapons quickly.
"Should we have Stark help with the Tesseract research? His talent might break through."
Hill suggested.
Fury paused, then shook his head.
"It's top-secret. Better not."
Hill nodded, accepting Fury's decision.
They then looked at the screen showing Black Shuck.
The black dog had reached the city outskirts, burning anyone who tried to stop it.
Nothing could halt its progress.
"Swoosh swoosh swoosh!!"
Suddenly, numerous missiles fell from the sky, hitting Black Shuck and causing massive explosions, blasting it away.
Despite the powerful blasts, Black Shuck only sustained some wounds, which began healing automatically.
"Hey, big dog, your rampage ends here."
Iron Man descended from the sky, landing before Black Shuck, with all his weapons aimed at it.
