The next day, Iris woke up and was immediately shocked by the photos spread throughout her office community. They were all photos of when she was trapped in bed with Archer. Miraculously, it all looked naturally intimate.
Her mouth and eyes opened wide when she saw the photos. There was one photo that left her at a loss for words. Archer seemed to be hugging her body, and she buried her face in his chest.
"What the hell!" she shouted, feeling indignant. Not because someone spread it in the community, but because the photos looked so natural. It was as if she and Archer really had a certain bond.
Quickly, she searched for Archer's contact and called him. It took a while for the man to answer. "It's still early, isn't it? What's wrong?" he asked in a hoarse voice.
"Did you see our pictures? Gosh! They look so natural. I even suspect you're working with William to set me up," Iris said with a rapid intonation.
"Oh, really?" Archer didn't sound surprised. He had just woken up and was still sleepy. "I haven't seen it yet," he whispered, sounding like a sexy sigh.
Iris secretly shuddered at the sound. "I'll send it to you. Oh, my...."
She immediately turned off the phone and let go of her cell phone. Her two hands stiffly rose. Suddenly, her mind raced. "He's going to be my husband. Seriously?"
What demon had persuaded her to make that decision? Iris couldn't even believe she was going to marry Archer, a man she didn't even recognize. However, she had already decided and would not change it.
"Once in a lifetime, one has to act crazy, right?" she muttered, then picked up his cell phone again and sent the photos to Archer.
There were many comments and criticisms directed at Iris in the office community. They called her a cheater, an ignorant woman, a cheap and lowly woman, and blablabla. However, she didn't want to pay any attention to it.
The employees at the office where Iris worked had known about her marriage arrangements with William for a long time. After all, Christopher was the branch director there, and William was the branch director in another office. Yes, they actually worked for the same parent company.
"What do the slaves of position and popularity like you know about me?" reproached Iris with a mocking expression. She went to the bathroom and quickly prepared to go to work.
Iris decided to change her work outfit. She usually only wore a sweater or shirt with her hair in a bun. However, that day, she wore an ivory blazer and trouser suit with a thin brown leather belt. Her blonde hair was left loose. She looked classic and elegant.
When her office mates saw the change in her appearance, they were astonished. How could the branch director's annoying daughter, who was usually messy, turn into a beautiful woman who looked elegant and classy?
For a moment, her increasingly prominent beauty amazed and mesmerized them. However, after a while, they became jealous and disliked her. Unpleasant words began to be heard.
"Oh, I know why she changed her appearance. It must be because her affair is already known to many people. So she won't hide herself anymore," someone whispered to gossip.
Another person nodded and whispered, "She'll probably show her true colors."
"She really doesn't know herself. Mr. Collins is the dream man of many women. Has she lost her mind?" said another.
"It's like she's already brainless!" said another woman. They burst into laughter.
Iris heard the taunts and reproaches. Men and women did it. Some even went so far as to call her a slut. They certainly weren't afraid of Christopher finding out his daughter was being gossiped about. After all, he usually didn't care about Iris.
"If I expose your rottenness one by one, do you think you can still laugh like this?" Iris muttered from her seat while looking at them coldly. She began to see the people who didn't deserve to be friends with her.
A woman sitting next to Iris' desk suddenly shifted her chair closer. "Are the rumors true? Are you cheating with another man?" she asked in a half-whisper. Her name was Eva.
"Yes. I'm even getting married to him this afternoon. Will you come as a witness?" asked Iris with sharp eyes. Eva was her best friend. She did not hesitate to tell her about her plans.
"Are you out of your mind? Even if you are cheating on Mr. Collins and want to marry your lover, wait a little longer. Why can't you wait and want to do it today?" Eva glared at Iris. She was shocked and did not expect her best friend to do such a crazy thing.
"Do you believe that the more my image is ruined, the more quickly my enemies will be spotted?" Iris raised her eyebrows.
"That's ...."
At that moment, Rachel suddenly walked past and stopped in the center of the room. She was the finance director directly appointed by Christopher. So many people respected her. Her appearance at that time immediately made people shut up.
"Miss Johnson, what brings you here?" someone asked cautiously.
Rachel's red lips pressed together. She looked at them seriously. "I'd rather not hear someone criticize others too harshly. Are you guys too free and have a lack of work?"
They gulped and immediately shook their heads. "No, no. We're very busy!" Everyone immediately opened their files and pretended to be focused on work.
Rachel, who saw that, could only shake her head lightly. She walked over to Iris' desk and smiled. "Don't mind them. You can also fight back. Don't let them demonize you like that."
The words sounded so sweet that Iris couldn't help but smile. "Don't bother yourself with my problems, Rachel. What if they don't like it?"
"You are my sister," Rachel said with a smile. She turned around and walked away.
Rachel's good nature made people who saw her admire her even more, especially the male employees. Besides having a high position in the company, she was a beautiful woman who was polite and kind. She was like a goddess in the office.
"She's completely different from her cheating sister. How can they be sisters? It's not worth it," they whispered while glancing at Iris.
"How can a goddess be compared to a prostitute? Don't joke with me." The others giggled.
Iris leaned her back. She watched Rachel's shadow, which stopped behind the wall. The corners of her lips lifted. "Eavesdropping? You're actually happy with my situation right now, aren't you?" Iris muttered while chuckling softly.
Rachel was actually the most hypocritical member of her family.
At that moment, Iris' cell phone suddenly rang. A call came in from Archer. She picked it up, and the man immediately said, "I'm in the lobby of your office."
That startled Iris. She immediately shook her head. "Not now, hey! Wait until I take my lunch break!"
"I came with William," the man whispered.
"What!" Iris exclaimed in shock. The employees in the room immediately turned their heads and looked at her unhappily. Iris didn't care about them and immediately asked Archer, "What do you mean? Why can you-"
"He wants to see someone. Not you."
Iris, who heard that, immediately widened her eyes with excitement. She quickly ran away from her desk. "Did he take the elevator?"
"Yes."
"Oh, my!" Iris exclaimed happily. "Would you like to see a view with me, Mr. Brooks?"
Archer did not answer immediately. In the lobby, he tugged at the corners of his lips. "Of course, Miss Johnson."
"Let's go to the 18th floor," whispered Iris as she hurried towards the emergency stairs. She was sure there would be something interesting she would get.
