The sun peeked through the curtains, casting soft rays on the gleaming marble floors as Felix descended the stairs with yawns.
"Good morning, Halimat," he said to his elder sister, giving a half-hearted wave. It was his first time calling her name and at the back of his mind, he wondered how she'd react.
Halimat didn't seem bothered as she raised her head from her phone to give him a smile. "Good morning. I'm guessing you had a nice night?"
Felix took a seat opposite Halimat at the breakfast table, rubbing his eyes. "Yes, I did. It was really nice." he responded.
"That's a good thing then," Halimat replied, taking a sip of her coffee. "You don't look as bad as you did yesterday. The pain in your head must've subsided."
"Yes, thankfully," Felix sighed.
Halimat put down her cup and leaned forward, placing her arms on the table. "I guess you've noticed that dad isn't here."
