Pain. That was the first thing Felix felt when he woke up. His head throbbed, a pulsing, pounding pain that seemed to radiate through every inch of his body. He blinked, once, twice, trying to focus, but all he saw were blurry shapes.
"Where am I?" he whispered, his voice hoarse and dry.
"You're in the hospital," a woman's voice answered. "You took quite a hit... Felix."
It took a moment for his eyes to adjust, allowing him to confirm the woman's words. He could see the stark white walls and fluorescent lights of a hospital room. The soft hum of the machines next to him was the only sound in the quiet, sterile atmosphere. He tried to remember what had happened, but his head was still throbbing and his memories were hazy.
He closed his eyes again, the events of the night coming back in fragments.
"Ada," he whispered when he remembered. "Where's Ada?" His body felt too weak to get up.
