Chapter 40 - 40. The Funeral: Part 2

Kane made his way to the back of the church, finding a seat among the other staff. He maintained a vigilant watch, scanning the room with a careful eye.

The ceremony began with a somber hymn. A reverend took the podium, speaking about Kenneth Grayson's life and legacy. The casket was placed at the very front of the church, just below the podium.

Aurora glanced around, looking at the faces of her half-siblings, all absorbed in their own ways of mourning. Some were openly weeping, while others stared blankly ahead, lost in their thoughts. The three wives each reacted differently: Madeline with a stoic expression, Stephanie with her visible grief, and Bertha with a quiet composure.

"I wonder if I had a relationship with him I'd feel saddened right now," thought Aurora as she saw the grief that surrounded her. "I wonder what kind of person Dad really was," she thought further.
