In the original work, both Uchiha Madara and Uchiha Sasuke obtained the power of the Six Paths, which forced them to awaken their respective Rinnegan. In contrast, Senju Hashirama, Jiraiya, Kabuto, and Naruto learned senjutsu at the three great sage locations, like Mount Myoboku and Ryuchi Cave. This knowledge further demonstrates that Uzumaki Mito was deeply proficient in senjutsu, as she was able to point out the flaws in Uchiha Izuna's self-taught senjutsu technique.
Though Tsunade's training location was confirmed to be Shikkotsu Forest, many speculate that her grandfather, Senju Hashirama, also practiced senjutsu in the same place. However, this has never been definitively confirmed. There is also a possibility that Uzumaki Mito may have played a role in Hashirama's mastery of senjutsu.
Izuna chuckled and responded, "Then let's begin."
Seeing his smile, Uzumaki Mito bit her lip, instructing Izuna to wait. She walked a few meters away, knelt down, and made a hand sign that Izuna had never seen before. Uzumaki Mito closed her eyes, concentrating deeply, as chakra began to flow. About five minutes later, a red seal formation appeared under Izuna, who sat cross-legged on the ground. Four radiant light whips rose from the seal formation and connected to Izuna's limbs.
However, Izuna felt no discomfort.
"You can begin," Uzumaki Mito said.
Hearing her words, Izuna focused on generating senjutsu chakra. As he did so, his body began to change, showing the physical effects of absorbing natural energy, much like what later happened to characters such as Jugo or those of the Kaguya clan.
As Izuna concentrated, Uzumaki Mito channeled her chakra into his body through the red light whips, suppressing the violent natural energy. Izuna's body returned to normal, his focus undisturbed. He continued to refine his senjutsu chakra, trying to fully control its power.
The more senjutsu chakra he generated, the more frequent the cursed marks covering his body pulsed. Uzumaki Mito had to expend more chakra to suppress the natural energy, much like how Yamato aided Naruto in controlling the Nine-Tails' chakra when Naruto trained to master the Wind Release: Rasenshuriken.
Time passed from morning to noon. By then, large beads of sweat formed on Uzumaki Mito's forehead, and her complexion had become visibly paler. She had used nearly all of her chakra.
"Ugh," Mito groaned, her strength giving out as her hands hit the ground. The seal formation and the chakra whips dissipated.
Sensing the change, Izuna opened his eyes. Seeing Uzumaki Mito's exhausted state, he rushed over and knelt beside her, holding her shoulders. "Are you alright?" he asked with concern.
Strands of her red hair, damp with sweat, clung to her face, giving her a slightly disheveled appearance. Shaking her head, Mito replied weakly, "I'm fine. I've just exhausted my chakra."
Izuna gently pushed her hair behind her ear and wiped the sweat from her forehead with his sleeve. "Take a rest for now. We're done for today."
Though the gesture was intimate, Uzumaki Mito didn't protest. After a brief internal struggle, she nodded quietly and turned her head away, no longer meeting his gaze.
Izuna carefully carried Uzumaki Mito to a nearby tree, where she could rest against the trunk. Through the memories transferred back from his shadow clones, Izuna knew that while Mito had been helping him with his senjutsu training, all his clones had been dispelled. Maintaining focus on both senjutsu training and managing shadow clones was simply too taxing.
No further progress had been made in searching for the two-tailed beast either, but that wasn't Izuna's priority at the moment.
"Mito," Izuna said after sending out another shadow clone. He sat beside her. "Do you believe in the dream of creating a village where all ninjas can live in peace?"
Uzumaki Mito trembled slightly when she heard him call her by name. However, when she processed his question, her brows furrowed in thought. "Is something like that even possible?" she asked.
Izuna smiled faintly. He was no expert in social interactions, especially with women, but he couldn't help but recall the idealistic dream once shared by his older brother Madara and Senju Hashirama. "That was the dream of my foolish brother and his equally foolish friend when they were young. At first, I had no interest in it, but the more I saw the cruelty of the Warring States era, the more I understood their vision."
Izuna paused, reflecting on the times he had killed as "Kaido" in order to provoke conflicts between the Shimura clan and other northwest tribes. The memories left a bitter taste in his mouth.
"I... I want to end this era of war, too," Izuna admitted, his voice low.
Mito watched him, feeling as though she understood him better.
"What about you?" Izuna asked, turning to her. "Do you have a dream?"
Mito lowered her head and thought for a long moment. "My grandfather always told me that I had a great talent for sealing techniques. I am the heir to the Uzumaki clan, and I have lived up to that role. My dream is... to protect the Uzumaki clan."
She paused, her expression softening as she glanced at Izuna. "Not long ago, the leader of the Senju clan, Senju kawaragi, came to my grandfather to propose an alliance through marriage. My grandfather agreed. He planned to..."
Mito stopped, her gaze lingering on Izuna with an unreadable emotion in her eyes. "But then, I was kidnapped by you."
Izuna had already learned this through his Sharingan, but hearing it directly from Mito made him feel a pang of guilt. Without thinking, he reached out and held her hand.
Startled, Mito tried to pull her hand away, but Izuna tightened his grip, holding her hand firmly. After a few more attempts to withdraw, she gave up, and the two sat quietly together, shoulders brushing.
Time passed, and as the sky turned from noon to dusk, the silence between them was broken by the soft growling of Mito's stomach.
