Chapter 1 - Introduction

"How can you give up?" a pessimist statement of a senior, well-rounded female graduate school research professor, an attendant to the research forum of James. James, an amiable but difficult when provoked type of person, when we talk about intelligence he's just not so genius but never to be underestimated because he has a well and endless intuition with unfathomable instinctive ideas which may intimidate people around him. For him life is a blend of bitterness and sweetness. He has been concerned of many things and family concerns. He aspires to be the best in a different way and not in biting way. The moment he decided to become a doctor of education is the time he begins realizing that life stings that the world can tumble in all sides.

When the day of his research forum takes place, he's in front of seven graduate school students employed in different workplaces, watching him, waiting for their turn to ask questions as it seems appearing on their eyes the lust of knowledge exudingly available from James. On his right side, a woman sitting, slightly bowing down as she writes something about the forum, and making eye contact towards James which makes him feels the fall of his tiny sweat drops on his neck and shivers with very cold air. At the back were the two senior graduate school professors. The one wearing with eye glasses, frowning face as she gathers her eyebrows on the center of his face. On her left, she's looking attentively to James, seemingly waiting for his turn to speak about his presentation. There were ten people in front of him. Just quite few to count but for him it's more than enough to make him embarrassed or failed the presentation and could change his life in a large extent.

The moment James says his greetings to all attendants, the room becomes gloomy and heaten up more. His first sentence continues to come out successfully than he is expecting the worst. He presents the title with ease and great confidence leaving the slide good as done and he turns the next slide. As he discusses the introduction of his research, he feels the puzzle of his reasoning that even him is selling out to confusion. But he dares to continue and resorts to wait until he's done all the slides. When he ends the presentation, everyone smiles halfway. As he gazes everyone of them, watching each others' demeanors giving signal from the one who will ask a couple of questions first to James.

James feels the cumbersome of the moment what if he cannot be able to defend his thesis. When the one female professor, the one who's writing the minutes, and bowing down while his having the presentation on her 40s was asking him to answer the question from one of the senior teachers at the middle part of the room, sitting like they can begin to kill.

The one question is raised. "What's the difference between teacher's competence and teacher competence?" asked by the one who's sitting on the rightmost part of James as he is facing them.

The question is not about the grammar or the structure as he feels it is, but he answers it with confidence that he can be able to give a response to the question. He answers, "Teacher's Competence is in singular possessive form of noun which refers to the ability of a teacher to do something in different aspects such as related to culture, classroom management, teaching strategies etc.," he adds, "While teacher competence refers to the ability in teaching to do something like achieving the lesson objectives into maximum of 100% (as the basis of perfect competence depending on measurement tools). His answers are articulated clearly and convincingly, but as he hears the response of the professor asking him the question. He feels the terrible awe on her reaction to his answers. Still he continues to manage to gather himself up. Proceeding to the next questions, he successfully defended and completed the entire research forum. He passed.

Everything that he is sharing matters about the value of dream. This is the moment when he begins to realize that life is something a do-it-yourself thing. I want to show you that even if you are disliked because of your abilities and confidence, you can still continue, and it's just too light to bear.

This story will give you the entire life's experiences of James who will be later on called in a different name, and you'll catch up that he's on different moments of life. Surely you can evaluate to appreciate that every bit of his suffering is turned into greatly positive, seemed coincidental, journey towards inevitable success and love blended with drama, magic and mystery. Before we embark to this journey of James, hang on to the adventure that nobody expects. Let your mind be open, heart be accommodating, soul be enriching, and body be agitating. Till you realize that life is mysteriously not mysterious. With the mix of life's ingredients, such as love, life, magic, drama, mystery and, a little of sex.
