Chereads / Teen Wolf: Sun Hill Pack / Chapter 34 - Stay Human

Chapter 34 - Stay Human

My day was going great. My life was starting to become more stable, at least for me. The tension between Scott and Stiles was ever increasing to the point where I had to pull Scott off of Stiles in the locker room.

He was in control of himself, so he wasn't going to wolf out, but he was still a supernatural being, so his strength was more than Stiles could handle. I had to step in.

"Alright, what the fuck is going on?" I held Scott in place where I had slammed him into a locker.

He didn't say anything, so I turned to Stiles, hoping to get an answer. This, however, showed the same result.

"Alrighty, no one wants to talk, fine. I'll have to waste my time on this shit. You two asshats will be at my house at 6 after school. I swear if you make me waste even more of my time and drag you there, I promise you that it won't be without some rough handling. Is that understood?"

I waited a few seconds for a response, but I didn't get any, so I repeated myself.

"I said, is that understood?" I increased the pressure with which I held Scott.

"Fine," Scott grunted.

"Okay," Stiles followed a few moments later.

After that, I continued with my day. I hadn't really thought about what was going on between the two, but honestly, I didn't really care much for it. Sure, they were the first friends I made here.

But I haven't really 'bonded' with them as friends. To me, they're people I've been training. Scott, for the most part. Stiles is something, and I'll leave it at that.

We were about halfway through the year, and the swim team had great scores—not the best, but we were still up there. For the most part, most of the guys weren't in it for the competition, but because they just liked swimming. Sure, they wanted to win, but they weren't upset at each other if they got bad times.

I still haven't found out who was messing with Michael, but I made it clear that he was my friend and I would back him up if anything happened.

From what I could see, that was enough to stop any bullying that I could see, but I'll have to check up with him if anything's been happening when I'm not there.

The school day came to an end, and I had children to deal with. But before that, I went for a run so I could burn off any extra energy that I had. I doubted that I would need to get physical with Scott.

When I came back from the run, I found both Scott and Stiles waiting at my door, still not talking to each other.

I opened the door and entered, with both of them trailing behind me.

"Okay, so what's the issue?" I asked, getting something to drink.

And of course, none of them wanted to answer.

"Y'all suck. I'm here trying to help you guys out. Hell, I could be relaxing and playing with my little bro, but no. I wanted to take time out of my day to deal with your shit."

Scott was the first to speak. "He wants to be turned by an alpha," he said, pointing at Stiles.

I raised an eyebrow as I turned to look over at Stiles.

"Why the hell would you want that?" I asked in a terse tone.

"What do you mean? You guys are literally more than human."

"You mean you want to lose what makes you human? To deal with the personality shift that can happen? The pain that comes with the bite? The chance of dying?" I slowly made my way to Stiles, looking down at him to meet his eyes.

"Scott seems fine," he mumbled.

"You mean boy wonder over there, who I literally beat the modicum of discipline he has into him?" I scoffed.

"Enlighten me on which alpha is going to bite you, 'cause it's for sure not gonna be mine or me. And the rogue is more likely to kill you," I stated in a plain manner.

Stiles bristled at my words. "Why can't you just let me join your pack, then?" he argued, frustration evident in his voice.

"Because it doesn't work that way, Stiles. You don't just join a pack for kicks. It's a responsibility, a commitment. You need to understand what you're asking for," I replied, trying to keep my patience.

"You're just scared I'll be better than you," Stiles shot back, his words sharp.

I sighed, shaking my head. "It's not about that. You're not thinking this through. I didn't have the choice to stay human you do."

In a flash of anger, Stiles swung his fist at me, landing a punch on my chest not causing me any pain. I didn't move an inch. Instead, I shifted my eyes to their reddish-yellow hue, locking onto his.

Lifting him effortlessly from the ground, I held him at eye level. "Look, Stiles, you don't want this life. Trust me," I said, my voice low and serious. "And the next time you throw a punch at me you better hope that has some power behind it. Because if I'm still conscious I'll toss you like a dog toy"

For a moment, we stayed like that, my eyes boring into his. He looked away and I let him go roughly causing him to loose his balance when he landed on the ground.

"If I find out that you voluntarily got the bite I'll run you out of the town. I won't deal with another packless around here Scott's enough already."

Stiles looks like he about to argue more but he's smart enough to know that I'm not dealing with his crap anymore. He leaves through the door and I hear his jeep start before he drives off.

Scott turns to leave.

"Stop. Where do you think you going?" I say.

"Home?" He responds questionably.

"Where did he get thought about turning?"

He shift comfortably from foot to foot.

"I.. I.." he stutters out.

"Spite. it. out." I punctuated my words.

"I told him that he wasn't strong and he wasn't enough"

"Do you think all packs are solely made of werewolves?"

He mumbles something.

"No, it's not my pack has a few humans in it. They been offer the bite but choose not to turn. That doesn't make them less than any member in the pack. You aren't in a position to decide who is enough" I sneered the sentence.

"My own brother is 'just human' but that doesn't mean I think I'm better than him. He is the best person in my life. I would never use my strength to make him think he's less than because he's not strong. His mind work better and faster than mine will ever."

"Honestly I'm disappointed that you gaining some power makes you think that your better than someone. I remember the short skinny kid with asthma who was friendly and kind to his friends. You aren't the same person I decided to be friends with. You got cocky Scott where you shouldn't have. Stay away from me for now I don't want to look at you right now."

He slumped his shoulders before he walked home.

I thought what I said was a little harsh on him but I need to clip any sense of superiority over humans roughly or he would think he could do anything.

After the talk I wasn't up for playing with Noah but I still did. He was someone I could relax around even if it was virtually his presence was enough in shape or form. I played with him still it was late in the night. I said goodnight to Noah before going to sleep more peacefully.
