LAYLA'S POV
Saturday day THE 21st June.
"Okay okay, Good morning everyone" Mr Joseph said as he rang his bell around the rooms to wake everyone up as usual.
"Morning everyone, it's Saturday so no school" one of the younger girls said as the room was filled with laughter.
"And it's just a regular day for us" Aisha said.
I have been skipping breakfast every since Mr Joseph told me I am free to do whatever I want as he gave me a curfew.
"Dummm" I heard a sound as my bunk shifted, someone collided with it.
"Sorry" I said as I looked down and it was Jasmine, what's going on with her.
"Jasmine sorry, hope you are not injured?" Aisha asked.
"Sorry! sorry!! sorry!!!" the rest of the girls in the room mumbled almost in unison.
"Yes I'm good, thanks Aisha, thanks everyone" she said as she didn't even pay me no regard as she proceeded to move to the bathroom.
Not like I was expecting anything better, I know she keeps gurges well and it's okay I can deal with that. Maybe I should patch things up with her, I would be leaving soon and I don't think I want us to separate on bad terms, maybe I should talk to her in the bathroom where no one can hear us.
"Good morning Layla" Aisha greeted as she began to come close to me.
"Morning, how was your night?" I asked.
"Fine, can I borrow your cellphone for some minutes?" She asked.
"Sure no problem, it should be done charging by now" I pointed the socket where I plugged the phone in last night before I went to sleep.
"Thank you" she said as she moved to get the phone.
"By the way, the item that was stolen the other day, were you able to recover it?" I asked.
"Yes, Amanda borrowed it but there was no one to ask so she just took it and left, we found out when she came to return it" she responded as she began to walk to her bed to sit.
Of to the bathroom to go freshen up I guess, hopefully it won't take long.
"Oooh can't wait to have breakfast and come back to bed" one of the girls excitedly said as I walked out to go to the bathroom.
What was Maryam's mom making a fuss about? The bathroom is clean and so is the dinning hall, why does she want to renovate? Well I guess that has nothing to do with me so I should just mind my business. But she was acting like the whole place was infested with diseases, she refused to enter any and just stood by the side, well who am i to talk down on her, i am at the mercy of her feets.
"Hey jasmine" I said as I walked close to her, she was brushing her teeth.
"Mchew" she hissed as she continued what she was doing.
"Hey, I just want to reconcile with you, I am sorry about the way I acted the other day, i was upset and sad. I know nothing in this world can justify..."
"No one cares" she said as she interrupted my apology, she didn't even allow me to finish before she moved away to another space to continue brushing her teeth.
"This is going to be harder than I thought" I said to myself as I proceeded to go take my bathe.
"That was refreshing" I said as I came out of the bathroom with my towel tied around my body as I proceeded to brush my teeth, jasmine was no longer here she must have gone back to the room, maybe I can talk to her there.
"Aisha" I called her name as I saw her walking away from the room, it seems to be dinner time.
"Where is my phone?" I asked not even giving her a chance to speak, Maryam said she would get back to me and i cant wait to here what her mom would say.
"Under your pillow" she said as she continued to walk towards the dinning hall.
"Thank God" I said as I entered the room to get ready, jasmine isn't here again so I guess I would meet her in the dinning hall right? Do I want to go there?
Let me just lay down on my bed and wait for her to come, so I can apologise and explain my situation to her, I don't think I have much time to stay here.
I picked my cellphone from under my pillow "no new notification" it said at the top, what's going on? She said she'll get back to me today right? Should I disturb her? Should I text her? Let me wait till noon and see.
"Let me lay my head now and rest for a while, before they get back from the dinning hall and start making noise again" I said to myself as i placed my head on my pillow as i began to sleep of.
(2 hours later)
"Hmm" I looked around to see everyone back from breakfast and busy as usual.
12:03 pm, the time on my phone read as I checked it.
"Knock knock" someone was at the door, who could it be?
"Good day everyone" Mr Joseph said as he opened the door.
"Good day sir" everyone responded to his greetings.
"Come in" he said as two young girls entered the room "everyone these are you new roommates Abigale and Ossas, I want you to be nice to them Abigale would be staying in layla's bunk for now and when she finally leaves Ossas would join in talking her bed space" Mr Joseph said as he showed the girls the room.
"Layla is leaving? To where?" Zainab asked as everyone else was still surprised by the news.
"She is right there ask her, Ossas come with me let me show you to your room for the main time, Abigale make yourself comfortable" Mr Joseph said as he began to leave.
"Layla" Aisha said in a sad tone "you are leaving?" She asked.
"Yes" I responded.
"Where to?" She asked again, that's a question even I don't know the answer to.
"Hopefully somewhere safe" I said as I bent my head down staring at my hands that were on my lap.
"What's going on? What's happening?" Zainab said in confusion.
"Why didn't you tell anyone?" Aisha added.
I don't think I have the answers to any of their questions, I just want to disappear from here right now.
"You guys should leave her alone and stop with the questioning" jasmine said.
