Chapter 12 - The ultimate sacrifice

Ling's eyes widened as Morgan disappeared and reappeared behind her, as she turned around the vampire's hand closed around her neck, she was lifted up with ease. The other agent's eyes went wide, his mouth opening in a silent scream as Morgan had already snapped his neck with her other hand.

Ling's gun hand trembled, she had acted quickly abandoning her rifle and reaching for her pistol strapped to he thigh as she was about to pull, their eyes locked.

"Stop," Morgan commanded, her gleaming red eyes looking into Ling's frozen gaze. "Ling froze on the spot".

Morgan then released her grip around Ling's neck, slowly, as she dropped her to the floor. Ling fell to the ground and stood like a statue, her eyes still locked on Morgan's. Morgan stood tall and imposing, looking directly at Ling, her movements elegant and deliberate. She moved her hand slightly, and an exquisite wooden chair materialized from her spatial ring. Morgan sat down, her legs crossing in a graceful motion, her seductive statue showcasing her power and beauty. Her eyes never left Ling's face, holding her gaze like a vice.

"You made me stand for too long," Morgan said, her voice imposing. "Call off your men."

Ling's body seemed to move on its own, her hand gripping her gun tightly, but unable to raise it. She activated her comms device, her voice firm. "All men, stand down. Hold your positions."

Morgan still looked at her, her expression unreadable. "Well done," she said, her voice dripping with sarcasm. "Now, speak."

Ling's mouth moved, the unexplained restriction binding them loosened her words tumbling out in a rush. "Please, forgive our intrusion on your property. If you let us leave, I assure you that you will never be disturbed again."

Morgan still sat, her eyes never leaving Ling's face. "I would never be disturbed again?" she repeated, her voice laced with amusement.

Ling swallowed hard, her eyes fixed on Morgan's. "Yes, we mean you no harm. We'll leave immediately."

Morgan's gaze seemed to bore into Ling's soul, her silence deafening

The silence was making Ling anxious, she was about to speak again when Morgan interrupted her, her voice comanding. "You want to live?"

Ling was shocked, her heart racing with fear. Was she going to die here? She spoke up, her voice trembling but resolute. "YES."

Morgan looked at her, her gaze piercing. "It's your lucky day, I like you." She paused, her smile growing wider. "But assuming I let you and your people live, how do you plan to leave? Your helicopter has been destroyed, and the pilot with it. I made sure of that."

Ling's eyes widened in horror, her suspicion confirmed. It was Morgan who had blown up the helicopter. She wanted to answer, to give a reason for her and her people to be let free, but her mind was blank. They were in the middle of nowhere, with no way to survive on foot.

Morgan saw the confusion and shock on Ling's face and spoke again, her voice dripping in suggestion. "How about this? I'll let you live if you kill the remaining members of your team. Can you do that?"

Ling's eyes were wide with disbelief, her mind reeling with the unthinkable demand. "Kill...?" she stuttered, her voice barely audible.

Morgan's gaze remained fixed on Ling, her eyes gleaming with a sinister intensity. "Yes, that should be a fair price of your survival," she said, her voice cold and detached. "You see, I was watching you. I know you're a skilled fighter, a leader. And I want to see if you have what it takes to make the ultimate sacrifice."

Ling's mind raced as she tried to process the situation, her thoughts a jumbled mix of fear, anxiety, and desperation. She couldn't possibly consider killing her own team, but at the same time, she knew that refusing the lady's demand would mean certain death for all of them. They were at her mercy, and she knew it.

"I can't" Ling stammered
