Kassandra's POV
I pulled the leash off my horse. I was stunned and surprised by what I saw while roaming around the port. The port was indeed huge, but what caught my attention was the ship that arrived.
The person who came out of the ship… it was my husband and his confidant, Enrique. What the heck!
'What the hell is going on? How come my husband was on the biggest naval ship in this kingdom? Why?!'
I made my horse face in that direction. My forehead wrinkles. He was wearing a navy uniform. He wears a cape and several medals.
His uniform was different from that of the other naval officers. It has a longer gold band on its shoulder with three strips and four stars on the shoulder board.
"Whoa! Prince Kalix was really charming when he wore his uniform," a woman says. They were standing next to me. I finally noticed the ladies who were staring at him.
"Hi, can I ask you a question?" I whispered. They look at me. I pointed to Enrique and my husband. "Who are they?"
They look at me and even at my horse. "You didn't know them? My gosh! He is Prince Kalix, the seventh prince. He also holds the highest rank in the Navy. He's the admiral. The other one is Lord Enrique Espana; he's the commodore."
I simply nodded, smiling as well. As soon as they looked in their direction, I pulled the leash off my horse, and it walked away. I really have no idea what kind of man I will choose.
"What do you think, Callente?" I whispered to my horse.
He just makes a sound, as if he wants me to guess his answer. I stopped by the maple trees that I saw on our way to the training ground.
I guess I'll stay there for the night or take a breather. I knew I needed that. As soon as I arrived at that tree, I tied my horse's leash to the tree.
"What should I do, Callente? I think marrying a royal family member was the worst decision I ever made. I should've thought things over instead of offering a lifetime bond with him." I shook my head and sighed.
My horse just answered by making sounds that I couldn't even understand. That made me laugh. I guess my horse was telling me not to regret my decision.
"Don't worry, Callente. I am not that silly." If someone sees me like this, they'll think of me as a crazy woman. "You seem to be disturbed, madam?" a man says. I turn around and look at him.
Did he hear the statement that I made? I hope he wasn't. I look at him from head to toe. "You seem to be a nobleman. How come you're here?" I ask. He laughs softly.
"Well, the park isn't yours, madam, right?" he stated.
I simply nodded, hiding my irritation. "Yeah. That's true. I'm sorry," I replied. I better leave here, or else I'll punch his face. The way he nonchalantly smiled, I got irritated.
"I never saw you around this town. Are you a merchant or something? A tourist, maybe?" he asks. I shook my head.
"Yes, I'm a new face everywhere. My husband brings me home, and he lives around here," I murmur. He nods.
"That's why you're wearing that beautiful ring. What a lucky man," he stated.
That made my eyebrow furrow. My instinct is telling me that he's not a bad guy, yet it feels awkward. I don't know if it's how he looks at me.
"Excuse me. I have to go. Nice meeting you, mister," I remarked.
I bow my head and untie my horse. I jump on him and look at the man. "My name is not Mister. I'm Daniel Argus. Nice meeting you," he says.
I just fake my smile and command my horse to run. I didn't look back, even if I was curious about what expression that man had.
'Daniel Argus, huh? I must ask Arida to run a background check on that man. I have a bad feeling that this won't be the last time that I'll see you, Daniel. I trust my guts.'
As soon as I arrive at my husband's palace, there's this strange and cold feeling that I get. I feel like I don't belong in this house.
I jump off my horse and take a seat on the ground. It's already dusk, and the wind is a bit chilly. My horse lay down as well as if he's telling me to lean on him.
"What should I do, Callente? How can I ask my husband about his other job? He's not just a reserve crown heir. He also holds power," I whispered. I yawned.
I guess I'm tired and hungry as well. I better get inside and find something to eat. I was about to get up when I heard the sound of a carriage.
I turned around and saw the prince's carriage. It stops in front of me and Callente. I got up and fixed my clothes. The door opens, and Enrique comes out first.
I made my curtsy when I saw my husband as he got out of his carriage. "Greetings to His Majesty," I greeted.
I raise my head and meet his gaze. They're still wearing their uniform. He looks at my lower abdomen.
I know he's checking to see if my wound is bleeding again. My stomach suddenly growls. I knew they heard it. Damn! Of all time!
"Don't tell me you haven't eaten yet?" Prince Kalix says.
"Nope! I'm perfectly fine. I eat my early dinner on the training ground. I'll excuse myself, Your Majesty. I have to clean up myself," I stated. I turn my back around when he grabs my shoulder.
"Don't you dare sleep outside again? You better stay inside my palace. Once I see you sleeping outside, I'll send a letter to my royal mother."
I was taken aback when he suddenly used his mother to warn me. I know the queen will write me a letter, or worse, she will come here herself.
"I get it. I won't sleep outside, your majesty. Can I excuse myself then?" I replied.
He nodded. I guess I will speak with him about being an admiral in this kingdom's navy force some other time.
I went upstairs and picked a room where I could use it as a place to stay. I opened the door and locked it. I chose the one that is close to the tower and has a terrace.
I take off my clothes. "Will I be able to keep up with this life or just go back to the borderlands and leave a divorce paper?"
I remember what I told him. "Fuck," I cursed.
I knew one of these days I'd be kicked out of this house for being unruly, which was part of my plan. I will give him a hard time.
The seventh prince should realize something. I never intended to be inferior most of the time. I've been the strong and dominant one. After taking a bath, I decided to go on the balcony of this room. I turn around and blink.
"Your majesty?" I stated. He turns around and gazes at me.
