Kassandra's POV
He didn't look at me, but I did. I moved a little closer. He glared at me when he turned his face and met my eyes. "What the hell are you doing?" he coldly says.
I laugh once again and keep my distance. I don't know if I can keep up with his coldness. His eyes were empty. Prince Noah was like a walking shell, with no soul inside.
I guess that is something that we have in common. I suddenly remember the conversation between Prince Lukas and Lady Leticia.
I turn my body around and lift the skirt of my white dress. I take off my shoes and step into the water.
"Ugh! It's cold," I muttered. He looked at my feet and was surprised by what I did. I place the shoes on my side.
"I'm a little bit envious because you have so many siblings, but I guess it differs from the situation and relationship that siblings had. Not all siblings get along with each other, right? But I believe in this." I paused.
I lean my face on my knees and face his direction. "Siblings can have arguments and misunderstandings, but they shouldn't betray each other. They shouldn't kill each other, either," I added.
I sit straight and raise my feet. I can see how the water slides on my skin. "I can't promise the world for you, 7th prince. I'm way different from the noble girls here in the capital or from the entire kingdom. I wield weapons and kill people. I'm drenched in blood…" I whispered. I may be sounding depressed or whatever it is, but it's the truth.
"Is it a shame that you chose the wrong prince? You are supposed to pick the crown prince or any of my older brothers. If you only knew what kind of man I am," he says.
I look at his face. There's a deep sadness embedded in those beautiful blue eyes. I raised my hand and caressed his cheek. He turns around and looks surprised at what I did.
"Do I look like I randomly picked? Your fifth brother was the same age as mine, but I didn't choose him. I don't care about the things that everyone has. Did you know why I chose you among the other six?" I ask. He didn't answer.
My hands went to his head and softly brushed his blonde hair. It was soft. It's even softer than mine.
"I chose you because you look the saddest among the six. You don't look like them. Their eyes were full of pride. I already knew they're boastful, which I hate to see in people."
"Are you toying with me?" he asks. I shook my head and smiled.
"Why would I, your majesty? I'm serious. I don't need your money or title. I can work for my needs and don't care if I'm the lowest person in this country," I halt.
My fingers fall down to his eyes. He automatically closes his left eye. "I just... I want to see the beauty of happiness in your eyes," I added.
Prince Kalix looks at me intently. I smiled and showed him how sincere I was. I really want to see him smile until it reaches his eyes. I stop touching him. I raise my feet.
I was about to turn around and wipe my feet, then put on my shoes, when his arms wrapped around my waist. I was stunned because of what he did.
Prince Noah pulled me closer to him. My eyes dilated when a warm lip touched mine. His eyes were looking straight into my soul.
His other hand caressed the back of my neck and pulled my head closer. I opened my lips, and the kiss became hotter… I closed my eyes and kissed him back.
I tease his tongue until we taste our saliva, wrapping around each other's tongue. I can taste the sweetness of the wine he drinks.
It was long and full of strange sensations. It feels electrifying, yet it excites me. I finally had my second kiss. We both gasped when we parted. My face feels hot.
Is this what they called blushing?! I turn my back on him and place my feet where we're sitting. What the hell had just happened?
"Fuuu…" he whispers, blowing my ears.
I turn around and face him again. I covered my ear and he blew. "What was that?!" I roared. He suddenly laughs.
My eyes dilated when I saw his laugh. It was genuine. I can see it in his eyes. He is enjoying my flustered expression. A smile formed on my lips.
I was right. Prince Kalix Noah's beautiful smile is exceptional. I stood up and didn't care, even if the ground was cold. I put on my heels and made a curtsy in front of him. He stops laughing.
"I, Kassandra Escalante, was asking Prince Noah's hand for a dance. Can I dance with you, your majesty?" I ask.
I stood straight and offered my hand. "There's no song." I looked around and shrugged my shoulders.
"I prefer it this way, and I know you did either, Your Majesty," I replied.
He stood up and held my hand. He wrapped his other hand around my waist as I placed mine on his shoulder. We started dancing together.
I know how to dance because Arida taught me. She keeps on telling me that I'll need it, and it was true.
Being a part of a noble family and marrying an unwanted prince will be challenging to someone like me.
"Being a part of my family and marrying an unwanted prince will be challenging, general. You will be facing different problems, and I can't promise you that I'll be there," Prince Noah says.
He made me twirl around and pulled me closer as soon as I faced him. "You don't need to. I can protect myself. You should do the things you need to do. I'll support you and fulfill my marital duties," I replied.
He stops moving and looks at me. "No need for that. You don't have to do anything for me. You don't have to force yourself," he says. I pout and sulk. I really like him, though. I feel like we can work on this marriage together.
"Why are you sulking?!" he roars.
I look on my left side. "If you only knew the things I went through yesterday to prepare for this wedding and our wedding night, don't get me that word. I can't impregnate myself on my own!"
His cheeks redden when he hears what I say. I covered my lips. "I apologize, your majesty. Let's get back inside," I stated.
He grabs my waist from behind and pulls me closer. He even carries me as if I'm as light as a feather. I can't touch the ground anymore.
He wraps his hands around my thighs and carries me like a princess. "Put me down, Your Majesty. I'm heavier than what I look like!" I exclaimed.
"You're much lighter than I expected you to be. Let's go inside and bid our farewell with our guests," he says.
