King Calixto's POV
My wife and I were stunned and scared at the same time. We never saw such darkness, depth, and emotion in our son's eyes.
He's being selfish and... scary. My wife simply laughs and acts it out, even if her hand is trembling.
"If that's what you want, then it's your choice. Don't push your luck, honey. I'll say this to you because I'm a woman myself. The moment we are tired and walk away without any plans of coming back, it's a real one," she says.
Our son leans his back on the couch. "I'll keep that in mind, mother. Thank you for reminding me. I appreciate it," he replied. My wife smiled and looked at me. I speak.
"Don't worry either. Your mom and I were keeping our eyes on everyone. We won't tolerate your actions just like that. Your mom will speak to Gregory alone. We'll handle this at the right time," I sum up. Kalix nodded and smiled.
"It's your choice, royal father," he replied. I stood up first and offered my hand to my wife.
"Son, we have to go. We want to walk around as well. It's been a year since we came here, and we'll take this chance," I stated. He stood up and bowed his head. "Enjoy mom and dad," he stated.
My wife and I silently leave his office. Inside the carriage, my wife grabs my hand and calms herself. She's really nervous.
"Have you noticed that, honey? I remember those eyes very well," she says. My jaw clenched. "I am either."
I massaged my forehead and closed my eyes. "I never thought I'd be able to see that face again. It's been 12 years. Of all time and person," I whispered. I know my wife, and I still remember what happened that year…
12 YEARS AGO
My wife and I were busy finding our seventh child. I'm glad she already put our third daughter to bed. He suddenly disappeared, and we knew the reason why.
"Where should we find him? What if Kalix goes into hiding, honey?! I can't lose any of our children!" Avira cries. I held her in my arms and caressed her back.
I know she's being emotional, especially about her situation. "We will find him."
The carriage that I asked for came when we heard a loud noise from two horses heading towards the royal palace. I knew who they were!
"Is that General Guillermo and his son?!"
We just wait first before getting inside the carriage. We can ask for his help as well. The horses stop in front of us.
Our eyes dilated when we saw Kalix behind the child or General Guillermo Escalante. That kid jumped first and offered his hand to Kalix. Our son suddenly jumped off and landed in his arms.
My wife and I were stunned. Our eyes dilated. Our son and Guillermo's child kissed each other! My wife ran to our house and pulled him away.
"I'm sorry, honey, to you too, Guillermo. Kalix! Say sorry to him!" my wife demanded.
My son was about to say sorry when Guillermo laughed. We look at him with a puzzled expression on our faces. He bows his head after he laughs.
"I'm sorry, your majesties. My child, introduce yourself. This is your first time to meet our king and queen, right?"
The kid kneeled his other knee on the ground while bowing at us. "Greetings to his majesty and her highness. I'm Kassandra Escalante, the second child of General Guillermo Escalante," she introduces. My wife and I were stunned when we realized that she was not a boy but a girl!
End of Flashback
My wife sighed. "What a fate they're connected to. I guess Kalix hasn't recovered his memories. He didn't know that he had the same eyes when he first met Kassandra," she says.
I agree with what she says. "I still remember how he painted her face from different angles. The moment we learned what he was doing, he had that same face. I guess they are fated for each other like us," I remarked. My wife sighs.
Her expression changed and shifted in her obsessive eyes. She held my arms tightly and lifted the sleeve of my suit. She bites me softly, leaving a hickey.
"It wasn't my fault that you turned me into this," she says. I end up laughing.
I lifted her chin and claimed her lips. She smiled after we drifted apart. "It runs in our son's blood," I joke.
She just winks and gives me that sweet smile. I've been in love with this woman for 28 years, and she's still the prettiest lady in my eyes.
I guess it's her charm and warmth that makes me fall deeper than I expected from her. She's a beautiful and responsible wife, mother, and queen.
We went to the port first and checked the situation. We both wear our normal and comfortable clothes. We don't want to catch any attention from our citizens.
As soon as we arrived, my wife's eyes glowed. She was raised near the ocean. That's the reason why it was easy for her to save me from drowning when I was 14 years old. That's the reason why my father and mother chose her to be the crown princess.
"Whoa… this breeze. It really brings back memories, my love. Time really flies," Avira whispered.
She leans on the railings while looking at the boats, ships, and different water rides in the ocean. I lean on my body from behind.
"It does. I still remember how excited I was when my father brought me with him when he went fishing. My mom is usually terrified, but it's my bonding moment with Dad. I really miss them both," my wife says.
I am glad he can't see my face. I feel bad whenever I remember our parents. Duke Christopher died while protecting my dad, the king.
They're killed by unknown assassins. Our parents died altogether, but up until now, I didn't find enough evidence to prove my hunch.
I want to find the justice that my wife and I deserved, but… fate was not with us on this matter.
"Don't make that face, Calixto. You always do that when we are talking about our parents. Didn't I tell you already? I am neither blaming you nor asking you for anything. After all, you kept your promise to my dad," Avira says.
She turns around and looks at me gently. I guess my wife really knows me well. I held her face.
"I promise, I'll find proof no matter how long it takes, Avira. I will give us the justice we both deserve," I whispered. She smiled.
"I'll wait for the right time, honey. I can wait," she says.
