They are unaware that I was nearby when they were having a conversation with a tree on the west side of the housing community for soldiers.
I was picking a fruit on the tree next to them when Catherine arrived, and then Lady Avira appeared either.
"I don't care about your past or your problems. I want to marry a woman who will respect my career and can stay here in the borderland. We both know that you can't do that. Stop fooling yourself."
If I have to hurt her with my words, I'm ready to do that. I know she'll get hurt and hate me, but if that's the only way for her to realize her truth, then I'll be the bad guy here.
She looks down again. "I know you knew Joaquin Greene. He was a son of one of the dukes in Moon Oceania. He was my ex-boyfriend, who was abusive and controlling. My parents learned about his nature after…" she halts.
