Kassandra's POV
I look at the papers in front of me. I stood up and groaned. I lifted the skirt of this dress and saw the bruise on my upper leg.
I've been making plans about the designs, food, music, and other things that are needed for the winter ball. I will start preparing them tomorrow.
I only have five days to prepare and make sure that the royal family won't lose their face because of me. "I better find an ointment for this," I utter. It hurts but I care less about it.
I was too stunned and surprised when Prince Kalix kissed me. His actions confused and scared me.
As soon as I run, I bump my leg on the edge of a cabinet next to his room's door. I knew it was because of his unlucky kiss.
My stomach growls. "Oh my. I better grab a snack and maybe a cup of coffee. I've been reading and writing too much. I need a break," I whispered to myself.
I went downstairs, and on my way into the kitchen, I bumped into my husband. I tried to hide my feelings, but my heart was beating so fast and my head was making me remember his kiss!
"You're in red, Kassandra. Are you sick?" he asks. He's trying to reach my forehead, but I step back and smile.
"This is nothing, your majesty. I'm just famished. I've been writing and reading for hours. I even forgot to take my lunch," I explained. He nodded but was unconvinced.
I can see it through his beautiful blue eyes. "Join me then. I ask the servants to prepare coffee and sandwiches for us. I was about to call you upstairs, actually," Prince Noah says. I wasn't expecting him to be caring. It's making me really anxious.
"You don't have to," I halt. He shakes his head and raises his palm in front of me. "Let's go in the garden and wait."
He passed through me, and I followed him right away. I heard this is a protocol. He's the seventh prince, and even if I'm his wife, I should still stand behind him unless he's the one who walks next to me.
He pulled the chair for me, and that scared me. "By the way, why did you say that you've been busy writing and reading? Are you doing research on something?" my husband asks. I nodded and sighed.
"I have to know what kind of winter balls the kingdom hosts. I need to know the status of the nobles who attend such a ball. I want to use this chance to promote the products that this region has. It'll help our economy, right?"
The servants came. I stop talking and wait until they serve everything. They bow their heads and step back. I grab the cup and have a taste. I smiled.
"It's delicious. They brewed the coffee perfectly," I commented.
My husband sipped and nodded. "I agree. As for the ball, if you have a theme in mind, then speak with the butlers and maids. They will do the work while you check on the things that need to be done. Don't worry about the money or other things. I'll provide them for you," he replied.
I was taken aback by what he said. I saw how serious Prince Kalix is. I guess I need to make sure that the winter ball will be perfect.
I realize that I can speak with my husband with ease. I have to become familiar with his presence around me.
The next day, along with the butlers and maids, we went to the market. Arida was also with me. We bought all the things we needed, especially the ingredients for the dishes that would be cooked for the party.
I also picked fabrics and other dried materials I needed for the design. "Arida, what do you think about this? It will be better than pure white, right? That's common. Also, this represents the blue hue of the ocean, which this region represents," I remarked.
I was talking about the light blue color that will be used as table covers. Arida touched the fabric and nodded.
"I think so too. I also like the hue, it has an oceanic vibe," Arida says.
I look at the butlers and maids. "What do you think, everyone? Is this okay for the table cover?" I ask.
They look at each other and seem to be surprised. "You're asking our opinion, milady?" a maid asks I nodded.
"Yes, I am."
They look afraid, but that woman speaks. "We also have the same thought, milady. It fits for the vases you ordered for the flowers on each table," she answered. I smiled.
"Thank you," I said. I look at the vendor. "Do you have loads of these table covers? I think I'll be buying around a hundred of them," I remarked.
The vendor smiled. "We have, milady. Are we delivering them to your house or what?"
I looked back and pointed to the place where our wagon was parked. "Just bring them to that place. Here's the payment. Keep the change. Have a nice day," I remarked.
He was surprised because I paid him double. I walked away and started checking the other things that we needed to buy.
We spent half the day together. We end up eating at the restaurant next to where our wagons are.
I told them to eat with us, but most of them got their food and ate next to the wagons. After half an hour, we go back to my husband's palace.
I heard the sound of swords hitting each other. "Everyone, bring the things we bought inside. After that, take a break until dusk, okay? I know everyone was tired," I remarked.
Arida and I checked that sound on the left side of this huge palace. We stopped and saw my husband and Enrique having a fencing battle.
I wasn't expecting them to be this scary. The dust was floating everywhere, and their clothes were already wet because of their sweat.
My husband bends backward and makes a round kick. His heel almost hit Enrique's face. Their swords point at each other's necks. Enrique put down his sword first and bowed.
"You're still as sharp as ever, Your Majesty," he complimented.
I saw that too. His muscles and posture were sharp and had their own strength. The two of them realize our presence. I made my curtsy for my husband and grinned.
"Greetings, your majesty," I remarked. He grabs his sheath and puts back his sword.
"You're home. Have you encountered any problems while shopping?"
I shook my head. "Everything goes well, Your Majesty. By tomorrow, we can start decorating that huge function hall of your palace," I replied.
He smiled and placed his hand on my head. "Don't push yourself too much, okay? Get some rest," he suggests. I knew I was blushing once again.
This prince is giving me reasons to like… him?!
