Chapter 30 - Real Beginning (6)

"That was refreshing. Thanks, Fujimoto-san." Candi greeted, as she waved off with a smile.

Kyouko on the other hand, caught her breath. It seems like she really did her best.

She was in great disbelief. Candi is really on another level. But, that allowed her to see some points for improvement in her personal skills.

She promptly wiped some sweat off her face and returned back.

Ryo now, was also surprised. His eyes slightly widened at the result.

If at raw physical power, Candi is strong, what more if she uses magic boosters? Ryo thought to himself.

"That was good." Ryo complimented,

"Not good enough," Kyouko replied nonchalantly. Hina and Airi showered her with compliments on how cool she was, however, she didn't believe any of those.

It wasn't cool. She was lacking, at least that's what she thinks.

But to the spectators, it was a good match between the two.

She relaxed and rested herself, sitting in the nearby chair.

Then, the next match was announced.

Akamine Airi, against Aikawa Yasu.

Yasu was IT.

In both of their performance, the results were one-sided. Aikawa, with great ease, defeated his first opponent. And now, with much smoother, and swiftier movements, she easily caught Airi.

And with more than 20 seconds on the clock, the match ended.

His agility was as fast as Kyouko's and Candi's. And his reflexes to Airi's turns and change of directions are inhumane. He immediately reacts, as if he's perfectly mirroring Airi's movements.

And with that said, he easily won against Airi.

Without taking much time, the upcoming matches passed, and the semi-finals were done.

In the end, the five victors were Candi, Aikawa, Haruto, Ryo, and Silas.

Candi was among the ones with the most agility, and Aikawa had the fastest reaction time.

And with these announcements.

Having seen each of their physical prowess, Asahi concluded the first test and proceeded to the next.

It was supposed to only have one victor, but Asahi states that time is lacking.

That being said, all the students went to the next part of the exam. The test for their magic energy capacity, and magic strength.

The exam includes the following:

The overall strength of their magic,

The capacity of their magic energy.

The strength exam consists of having a human-sized shard in the middle. And in order to pass, you must shatter it within 10 seconds. The shard is as durable as a diamond, embedded with a defensive magical mechanism that improves its durability.

And the other exam involves the overall capacity of your magic. The capacity of magic pertains to how wide your magical energy is, which dictates the limits of how much magic you can use.

The capacity exam includes a device shard, and in order to pass, one must transfer enough magical energy to it continuously. Once the bar displayed underneath reaches the full limit, means that your capacity is well within their standards, therefore concluding that you pass.

And with that, the first one to open the magic exam was Candi.

The student's order was alphabetical by surname.

Aenaias Candi, Aikawa Yasu, Akamine Airi, Aoki Reina, Atsumasa Ayumi, Ayane Hina, Castillo Laura Cezina, Fujimoto Kyouko, Gushiken Ryuko, Hanemura Keina, Harutani Yui, Haruto Sora, Hayashi Silas., Kai Kuromi, Kazuo Shin, Kyosuke Ryo, Takahashi Arata, Tokita Souta, Tsubasa Rin, Zaitseva Agatha Mijalovich,

She promptly stood in the middle, looking nonchalant and without a care in the world.

Ryo looked at her with focus.

Then, Asahi-Sensei signaled for her to start.

Swiftly, she raised her hand up, and placed her fingers into a backhand position, with her index finger pointing directly at the shard.

Then, it shoots out a reddish laser light, and in a single shot, the shard shattered, passing the test with still 8 seconds in her clock.

Everyone applauded in amusement.

Then as for her capacity, she easily filled the meter in no time.

With overpowering physical speed and an intense strength in magic, she's a one-of-a-kind magician.

Ryo looks at her with caution, with the mindset of not making her his enemy.

The next one is Aikawa Yasu.

He summoned a white rifle made out of magical energy, and aimed directly at the shard.

And with a single, explosive shot, the shard exploded.

He completed the capacity test in no time.

Airi, next online, easily cleared the test with her ice powers.

And now, we have Reina. She stepped up a few feet away from the human-sized shard.

Then, she raised her hand up, and gathered a spherical vortex of purple energy within her palms.

Then, she launched it towards the shards, instantly shattering it.

The following was her capacity exam, which she finished with ease.

Following her, all finished with flying colors, and everyone's classes were finished.

During the exam, some of them took notes on what the others can do, and their ability capacities.

After class, they decided to hang out at a nearby cafe, inviting both Ryo and Kyouko, who were super reluctant but nevertheless joined.

In their casual clothes, they all went to the cafe.

...

Ryo POV

The sun had set, and it was nighttime. At the corner of the cafe, waiting was Akamine, her eyes glued to a book.

I promptly walked up to her and said my greetings. She closed the book and returned the greetings.

I sat at the seat across from her.

Our table was for six people, yet only she was there.

"Where are the others?" I asked,

"They are at the counter, ordering for all of us. And oh, they ordered a latte for you, Is it okay with you?"

"I'm okay with that. How much?" I asked as I brought out my wallet,

"Oh, no, let me. I just received my allowance, and wanted to treat everyone." She denied.

Well, it's a shame to let this kindness pass. I thanked her, and put my wallet back into my pocket.

Not long after, the others arrived at the table with the ordered drinks, with a big plate filled with sandwiches in the middle.

Takahashi carefully placed it on the table as they all greeted.

Once it was placed, they all sat, with Haruto sitting beside me.

As it all happened, Fujimoto arrived.

"Alright, we're complete," Haruto said,

Then, the four of them brought out their notebooks, and the reason for this "hangout" was started by Akamine.

"I talked to an Alumni of the Seiei Academy about what the course of our year would be there, and I found several key points that I think would be nice to share with you all. The person I talked with was none other than Matsubara Kiku."

She showed us a picture of her, and another female beside her.

"Fujimoto-san, does she ring a bell?" Akamine asked,

"Yes. She is the Student Council President before our current President. She is..." Kyouko stopped for a moment, as her face became serious. "The Magician of the Infinite Skyfall"

The Magician of the Infinite Skyfall... what an intriguing nickname.

"I didn't have the chance to ask her about the history of her nickname, do you know something about it?"

"She is the titan that brought honor to this school. Skyfall... as she is the fall of the national magicians throughout Japan. She is their bringer of defeat. She is the peak era of Seiei Academy."

"I see. From what I've read, she really is an accomplished and talented figure. Now, to what she said, this will be the course of our year."

Akamine brought out a small, green notebook, with her notes enlisted on.

"A magic school is home to many hungry, and unique magicians. You'll meet people you never expected to exist. From those who already had their hands dirty with blood, psychopaths, and many more. Magic served as a medium for them to transgress against the natural human law, especially for those blessed. This is a battle for survival, and to enter Seiei, you must be aware of that situation. All throughout the old history of this school, many things have happened here, and the years I was there are no different."

Akamine read out. Those words make me remember my past. Whether a student or not, magic serves as a tool for someone to transgress, and to go up against the natural human law.

"That's horrible..." Hina remarked, a little terrified.

"Y-Yeah... B-Battle for survival?" Arata added.

"I'm not finished reading yet."

"That's where the council comes in. The ranking of the elite is responsible for keeping balance within the school grounds. They should be strong, and powerful, or else their authority would immediately collapse. Well, all in all, being in a magic school is fun. Best advise? Don't fear death. Death is only the tip of the iceberg."

"W-W-Wait, WHAT?!" Takahashi blurted out in terror and surprise,

"D-D-Death... you say?!" Hina added in that fear.

"Not yet finished!"

"Well, kidding aside. Seiei Academy holds many tournaments, and exams with real-life scenarios. If you can't go beyond your limits, and surpass your current self, you won't have a future here. Be ready for a heavy-competition-based environment. Trust no one, and following what I said will guarantee your graduation cap."

Akamine closed her notebook and looked at everyone. Takahashi and Ayane are terrified, while Haruto is slightly taken aback.

"With all of these being said, Fujimoto-san, could you tell us about the environment here at Seiei Academy?" Akamine asked.

"Sure. But it will be long."

Everyone nodded to Kyouko.

"As far as I can remember..."
