Sloane:
In the bounty hunting world, there are code names for each and everyone of us. Unique and only to be taken once by a person.
I am the only one with two different identities and code names.
I am Cheshire, the Cat. I am Red Nemesis.
At the age of nine, our house got attacked and my parents were killed, leaving my dress soaked in a pool of blood. It had been the worst night of my life as there was no one in the house but me and my dead parents.
The trajectory of my life changed when McQueen, the CEO of Future Unification, appeared that night, taking me into his arms as we walked out of the mansion. He promised to take care of me, he promised to guide and protect me from the people who killed my parents.
He taught me how to fight. He taught me how to kill several men in seconds. I became a weapon of mass destruction, putting fear in the hearts of everyone and one day, I became a bounty hunter, killing over fifty people on my first job.
"You are an enigma, Sloane. You will be a force to reckon with. Your name will make men tremble at your feet. You will be the most wanted Hunter in the world, leaving the dead bodies of hunters sent to kill you in your wake."
And so his word came to pass. I was a machine gun, killing and ripping everything in my sight apart.
It was why I was here tonight at this club, sitting and watching the men I had been asked to kill have their last moments of fun.
Pushing out of my stool, I strode over to them, dropped my cigarette to the floor and squashed it underneath my foot before bending over to snatch a glass of brandy from one of them.
"And who the fuck are you, bitch?!" The first man asked. "Who do you think you are to snatch my drink from me?"
I turned to the other men, smiling as they took me in in recognition. A few of them began to push to their feet, their aim to escape the wrath of my bullet but I knew very well that they weren't escaping tonight.
"She's the one!" A man yelled, pulling out his gun. "It's Red Nemesis!"
I shot him before he could and he fell to the ground, dead. Turning to the other man, he pulled out his gun also and I crashed the glass cup I had in my hand, causing his head to bash against the wall behind him before I put a bullet into the head and soon, the club was alright with bullets and patrons running for their life.
This was a job in my everyday life.
More men dropped to the floor as I avoided bullets and when the one in my cartridge got empty, I searched for more in my pocket but I had no more.
Yelling in frustration, I tossed my gun at one of the men and it hit the side of his head.
I employed my fists, punching my way and kicking with all my might and when the sound of a different gun rang out, I ducked.
"There is another Hunter in here and he's out to kill us!" Someone screamed and the bullet rain continued.
I pushed for a moment, hiding to see who it was and my eyes widened in surprise when I saw Maximus shooting at the men.
He looked glorious as he shot. He shot like it was a part of him, like he could turn a woman on by just shedding blood.
Seeing him kill the men off gave me a new confidence that had me fighting with insane speed.
I was able to grab a gun right about the time I heard his yell.
"Maximus!" I screamed, watching him fall to the ground, holding onto his side as pain tore through him. He began to pull backwards and I shot at the man standing before him.
I was enraged. I had just five more men left and with inhuman accuracy, I gave them each a shot at points in their body that had them dead before they touched the ground.
"Max!" I fell to my knees beside him, pulling him so I cradled him in my arms. He was breathing heavily and staring up at me, he laughed. "What's funny about you getting shot, idiot?!"
"Nothing," He replied weakly. "I just didn't see that bullet coming. I usually do. My vision is superb."
"You're starting to babble. You're going to have to use the last of your strength. I am taking you to my place."
And I did. I called one of my quack doctors to extract the bullet and stick him up while I went to make my report to McQueen.
It was already dawn when I arrived at the company and pushing past the doors, I walked straight to his office.
"There you are." He replied from where he sat at his desk. "I didn't think I was going to see you."
"Well, here I am." I pulled out a bloodstained plastic bag filled with human canines and dropped it on the table before him. "Thirty of them. I killed them all."
He smiled at me. "You never fail to disappoint."
"Is there anything else you need me to do? I need to rest. I've been working all week."
"Of course, you deserve a break," He smiled and sadness creeped into his eyes. "I have bad news."
"It's something I am used to."
"I don't think you'll like this one." He replied, placing his elbows on the table as he pierced me with his eyes. "Today is the eighteenth of November and your contract has expired. You are no longer a part of us."
I reeled back in shock. Of course, I knew this day was going to come but I didn't expect it to come this soon. "What? What do you mean?"
"I'm sorry, Sloane. We agreed to this, didn't we?"
I shook my head. "But—"
"I know," He cut me short. "Every bounty Hunter will come after you. They will come for your head. But you know how things work here. You already agreed to it and signed the contract and it has expired."
No. No way. This was the worst news ever. Planting my palm on his table, I stopped myself from calling him a wicked man.
"And how. How do I renew this contract?"
"I don't think you can."
"Please!" I cried, tears filling my eyes. "They're going to come after me and you know that. They won't stop until I am dead! I know you can do something for me. So please! I beg of you!"
Sighing, he pulled his drawer open, pulling out a file in the process. He dumped it in front of me. "This file contains information of someone who has been wanted for a long time. He has been in hiding and we need to fish him out."
I pulled the file open, reading through the information before me. "Death Silver?" My eyes widened when I caught the passport photograph and I looked at him. Maximus. "You want me to do what exactly?"
"A bounty is going to be placed on his head the moment you agree to do this." McQueen said. "He's very dangerous. Far more dangerous than you think so you won't be killing him immediately."
He pushed to his feet and stared into my eyes. "You will make him fall in love with you. You will make him unable to harm you and when that is successful, you can kill him."
"But—"
"That's the only way you get to keep working for me, Sloane. Refuse and I let you off. The sharks will come and they will tear you into shreds!"
And to keep myself alive, I had to kill the man I just saved.
