Chapter 4 - Wealth and Wariness

*Year: 18900, Day: Monday Evening*

Ethan lay in bed, his mind racing with ambitious thoughts and grand plans for a future empire. He could almost taste the wealth and power that awaited him as he envisioned building his own successful business. In the past life he was trapped in, he had slaved away for others, making them rich while he struggled just to get by. But now, in this fantasy world, he finally had the opportunity to make something of himself, to rise above all those who had held him back before. And he would stop at nothing to achieve his dreams, no matter what obstacles or enemies may stand in his way.

As Ethan's mind drifted in a haze of late-night thoughts, a soft voice cut through the quiet. He turned to see Gaia, his captivating and alluring roommate, sprawled luxuriously on the bed next to him. She was dressed in a short skirt and a crop top that left little to the imagination, her curves accentuated by the dim light of the moon filtering through the window. A rush of heat coursed through Ethan's body at the sight of her.

"Hey Ethan," she said with a playful smile. "I can't seem to fall asleep." As she shifted, her skirt rode up slightly and revealed even more skin, causing Ethan's cheeks to flush with color. This was the first time he had ever been alone with a woman in a dark room, and his heart raced with anticipation and nervousness.

"Im going to bed." he said while blussing and trowing the blanked over his head.

*Next Morning, Tuesday*

The sound of urgent knocking echoed through the room as Ethan and Gaia scrambled to get ready. "Sir, I have a message for you. Can I come in?" The voice at the door was anxious and insistent. Ethan exchanged a curious glance with Gaia before signaling for her to open the door. With a deep breath, she turned the doorknob and greeted the staff member standing before them.

"How can we assist you today?" Gaia's tone was polite but guarded, unsure of what this unexpected visitor could want. The staff member shifted nervously on their feet before blurting out their message.

"There are some members of the guild waiting downstairs to speak with you." Confusion clouded Ethan's mind as he tried to make sense of why they would need to talk to him. Nonetheless, he maintained his composure and replied calmly.

"I'm not sure why they would need to see me, but please inform them that I will join them downstairs as soon as possible." As the staff member made their way out of the room to relay the information, Ethan couldn't shake off the feeling of unease settling in his stomach.

After some time Ethan and Gaia made there way downstairs to meet the guild members.

The stairs were made of a worn, dark wood, with each step creaking under the weight of their feet. The walls were adorned with tapestries depicting fierce battles, adding to the tension and anticipation building within Ethan and Gaia.

Ethan's piercing gaze fell upon the guild members like a steel trap, his jaw set in determination. "How can I help you?" he growled, sensing their underlying suspicion.

The man speaking for the group stepped forward, but Ethan cut him off with an icy tone. "We were sent here from the main city of Aventura," the man stammered, faltering under Ethan's intimidating presence.

Without missing a beat, Ethan retorted, "Yes, I paid in full for a month's stay. Is that a problem?" The man hesitated before continuing, "We had some questions about your sudden wealth." Immediately, Ethan launched into his defense, his voice oozing with power and authority.

"As you can see, I am very wealthy. I have come from a distant land to make a new life here. How I obtained my fortune is none of your business. Now, may I ask who your master is and why he has sent you to interrogate me? And why should I share any information with you when there is nothing in it for me?" As Ethan finished his sentence, the guild members were taken aback by his confident and forceful demeanor.

The man stood awkwardly, unsure of how to respond to Ethan's questions. The silence between them grew until Ethan decided to take his leave. "I can see you have no answer for me. I will be off now; I must enjoy my breakfast. Come, Gaia." He turned and walked away, disappearing into the main hall as they headed towards the restaurant. The other members of the guild left to report back to their own organization.

Gaia took her seat at the dining table and asked, "Would you like me to gather information for you as the Global Banker?" Ethan replied with a smile, "No, it's alright. I didn't expect them to arrive so quickly. The concept of money in this world is vastly different from my own, so perhaps my attempt at paying for an entire month upfront was a foolish decision. But there's no need to worry; soon enough, I'll be in control of this world." As he spoke, he also placed his breakfast order.

After what felt like an eternity, the dishes arrived at the table. As he took a bite, all the flavors came together in a delightful explosion on his palate. The bread was slightly sweet and nut

With each bite, the flavors explode in Ethan's mouth. The bread is warm and buttery, the eggs are rich and creamy, and the bacon is salty and smoky.

The bread is warm and fluffy, with a slightly buttery taste. The eggs are creamy and the bacon is salty, creating a perfect balance of flavors in every bite.

After finishing their meals, Ethan and Gaia stood up. "Now it's time for business," Ethan announced as he led the way to the front entrance of the inn. As they stepped outside, Ethan began to scan the village. "What are you looking for?" Gaia asked curiously as she observed Ethan's actions. "There!" He pointed towards a large building located in the center of the village. "Isn't that..." Gaia started to say, but before she could finish, Ethan cut in with a smile on his face. "Yes, it's the Guild Hall of Havenwood. It's where we need to register our company." With determination, he headed towards the building, and Gaia followed closely behind.
