Chapter 52 - 52

The new director of SIT named Beet sat back in his office chair and notified those in front of him. "You all will have to adjust to the changes quickly.

Everything you get will be based on your merits. Since you have not done anything on Earth recently, you all will start at the bottom."

Lexi narrowed her eyes. "What about me? If it was not for my help then nobody would be in the situation we are in now."

Beet shrugged. "You are in the same situation. Many people have done much more than you recently and they will not agree with you gaining so much power."

There was a tight power structure within and many wished to keep their power.

Having Lexi show up again could threaten their positions so she and the others were not so welcome no matter what Lexi had done for them.

Lexi was very angry with the turn of events. 'Ungrateful bunch of...'

She flashed a charming smile and asked. "So what is the task?"

Rayne and Hogan remained quiet awaiting what came next.

If Lexi could not get any respect from such people then they would be unable to do anything about their situation either.

Beet pressed a button and someone walked inside. "This is Grill. He will be your future partner. He has been enhanced to have Heeter race traits and will be useful to you."

Grill walked inside without any concealment so his turquoise skin, pointy ears, and white dreadlocks. "Nice to be working with you."

After finishing their greetings, Beet was left in the room with Grill. "Keep a close watch over them and report every little thing back to me."

Grill flashed a sinister smile and bowed. "Many of the higher-ups are not too happy about them returning. I was assuming that everyone would be pushing for that girl to be killed and dissected when she returned."

Those in power had voiced several times about the uniqueness of Rayne and they saw it as being a threat or as something that would be far more valuable in their hands.

Beet shrugged. "Hm... the organization is split on the decision so we will wait and see."

Grill sighed. "Got it."
