Chapter 56 - Straddle

Tessa, breathing heavily, opened one of her eyes when no sword appeared and raised her head to meet the assassin laying flat on the floor.

"Wait! Is he dead?" She stood up and asked, moving closer to confirm.

"He is not, I just knocked him out." Elias appeared out of nowhere and responded, causing Tessa to flinch.

How come his reflexes were always so quick? This had to be the third time he had saved her from death, she was beginning to owe him many favors, which she did not like. Those darn fools, how could Big Gee send someone to kill her in the castle? She was done pitying them, she no longer needed the crew or their assistance, forming a new one would not be as difficult.

It was time to abandon them and move on, or they would never stop attempting to kill her if she remained still.

"Do you happen to know who sent him?" Elias inquired, noticing her calm demeanor, to which she nodded.
