Chapter 82 - Sacrifice

Raven's thoughts were a jumble of emotions as he considered the proposal. He knew that agreeing to the alliance would mean putting his personal feelings aside and fulfilling a destiny that was not his own. But he also knew that the fate of the kingdom and the people depended on it.

He looked up to see Minister Elwynn watching him with a keen eye. "What do you say, Raven?" he asked.

Raven took a deep breath and made his decision. "I'll do it," he said, his voice firm. "I'll attend the assembly and fulfill the prophecy."

Minister Elwynn's face relaxed into a relieved smile. "Excellent," he said. "I'll send a messenger to Valtoria immediately to confirm your attendance."

Raven nodded, feeling a sense of weight settle upon his shoulders. He knew that he was about to embark on a journey that would change his life forever.

The next morning, Raven rode out of the kingdom, accompanied by a small retinue of guards and Minister Elwynn. As they approached the border of Valtoria, he could see the castle of King Morwen rising up in the distance.

As they entered the castle, Raven was greeted by King Morwen himself. The king was an imposing figure, with a strong jaw and piercing blue eyes.

"Welcome, Prince Raven," King Morwen said, his voice deep and commanding. "I'm glad you've come. I believe we have a lot to discuss."

Raven dismounted his horse and followed King Morwen to the throne room. The room was filled with nobles from both kingdoms, all waiting for the assembly to begin.

As Raven took his seat, he felt a sense of unease settle over him. He knew that this was just the beginning of a long and difficult journey.

The assembly began with King Morwen presenting a mysterious ancient tome bound in black leather.

"This is the Chronicle of the Ancients," King Morwen said, his voice filled with reverence. "It holds the secrets of our kingdoms' past and the key to our future. But it requires two things: one must be willing to unlock its secrets and one must be willing to make a great sacrifice."

Raven's eyes met King Morwen's, and he felt a shiver run down his spine. He knew what this meant - that he was being asked to give up something precious in order to save their kingdoms.
