Chapter 12 - The Showdown

The day of the art competition arrived, and the art room was abuzz with excitement. Students from all over the school had submitted their work, and the judges were gathering to choose the winner.

Ethan's heart was racing as he stood nervously beside his piece, "Echoes in the Abyss." He had poured his heart and soul into it, and he knew that it was his best work yet.

Sophia sauntered up to him, a smug smile spreading across her face. "You really think you have a chance against me?" she sneered. "I've been studying art for years. I'm a master."

Ethan felt his temper flare, but he took a deep breath and reminded himself of the System's words: "Master your emotions."

The judges made their way around the room, scrutinizing each piece with hawk-like eyes. Ethan watched anxiously as they examined his work, trying to read their expressions.

Professor Rodriguez, the art teacher, entered the room, eyes widening at the impressive artworks. "Wow, both pieces are incredible!

Finally, they announced the winner. And to Ethan's shock, it was him. His piece had taken first prize.

Sophia's face turned white with rage. "This is a joke!" she spat. "You're just a pretender! You don't deserve to be here!"

The judges looked at her sternly. "The decision is final," one of them said firmly. "Mr. Wright's piece showed creativity, skill, and emotional depth. It was unanimous."

Ethan felt a surge of pride and relief wash over him. He had done it. He had actually done it.

But Sophia was far from finished. She stormed out of the room, her friends following close behind.

The System : "Ethan, you've reached Level 3... but you're not done yet. The game is far from over."

Ethan smiled to himself, feeling a sense of determination and purpose. He knew that Sophia would stop at nothing to take him down, but he was ready for her.

Professor Rodriguez nodded. "Well deserved, Ethan. You may use the art room whenever you need to. Sophia, keep practicing, you're almost there!"
