Chapter 4 - Oasis: The Second World

A black box suddenly appeared out of thin air.

The box was not big, about the size of an ordinary computer tower.

But when he turned on the switch and activated it, the box unexpectedly expanded and transformed, like an Autobot shapeshifting.

Tens of seconds later, a black cube the size of a container file was suspended in mid-air.

"What a magical ability!"

Professor X admired softly. Despite his extensive knowledge and experience, he couldn't help but ask, "How did you do it?"

"It's just a simple traceless stretching spell."

Lynn didn't dwell on this aspect and introduced, "This is my invention, and I named it [Oasis]. It's just the first generation."

"In simple terms, it is a server that can virtualize a world that doesn't exist."

"Through the interface..."

Lynn created a bracelet, a helmet, and a dormant capsule out of thin air: "That's all. People can enter this virtual world and experience another life firsthand."

"Like... a game?" Professor X narrowed his eyes slightly.

"It's not just a game. I'd rather call it... the second world!"

Lynn flicked his fingers slightly, and the bracelet slowly floated in front of Professor X.

Professor X pondered for a moment, then slowly put it on.

"Ding!"

Accompanied by a pleasant startup sound, his eyes flashed.

The next moment, the surrounding scene suddenly changed.

The golden sun shone on his body, giving a warm and comfortable feeling, but at the same time, a strong gust of wind hit him, making his clothes flutter.

The roar sounded overhead, revealing a Boeing airliner flying at high speed!

Farther away, flocks of birds passed by, their chirping clearly audible!

Professor X's expression changed suddenly—

He was actually in the sky at that moment!

There was a huge city under his feet!

And the most important thing was that he wasn't sitting in a wheelchair but standing on a cloud as if walking on solid ground!

"Is this a virtual world? It's so real?!"

A sense of confusion and absurdity surged from the bottom of his heart.

Reality?

Or unreal?

With his powerful mental abilities, he couldn't tell clearly, leaving him frozen on the spot, not even noticing Lynn's sudden appearance.

"Slap!"

There was a snap of fingers again, and rain fell.

The cool touch brought Professor X back to his senses.

He raised his wrist and stared at the bracelet on it.

"This thing can pull people's brain waves?"

He murmured incredulously, then turned to Lynn, his expression no longer calm: "Lynn, you actually have such a real holographic simulation technology?"

"It's magic, Professor!"

Lynn shook his head: "More precisely, it's a combination of magic and technology!"

He picked up his bracelet and took out a chip the size of a fingernail: "Whether it's a bracelet, a helmet, or a game cabin, it's just the appearance. This is what really works!"

The tiny chip was full of intricate magical lines.

This was the result of his ten years of preparation!

Crazy learning of all kinds of knowledge in this world—AR technology, artificial intelligence, computer science, holographic simulation—culminated in the development of comprehensive virtual space technology!

Combined with Floo Network, Memory Magic, Legilimency, Projection Magic, Mirror Space, and other magic, this almost real second world was created!

"Unbelievable..."

Professor X tried to move around, managing to take a few steps, almost weeping with joy.

God knows how long it had been since he walked on his legs!

"Professor, let's go down for a walk."

Seeing this, Lynn snapped his fingers.

The next moment, the whole world rapidly approached, and before Professor X realized it, they had already appeared on Fifth Avenue in Twist City.

There was heavy traffic, and people were bustling like a waterfall.

Everything was just like reality.

"Lynn, you are a genius!!!"

Professor X exclaimed once again, his evaluation of Lynn soaring: "I have no doubt that once 'Oasis' is released, it will become popular worldwide in a very short time, and you... will become the richest person on earth."

"Making money is only one aspect; influence is the key."

Lynn was confident: "More importantly, it can change the public's perception of mutants."

Another snap of the fingers, and the surrounding light and shadow changed again.

A beautiful blue planet appeared in sight.

That's Earth!

The two were actually on the moon!

He was still wearing a spacesuit!

Professor X clearly felt the changes in gravity and the environment and wondered, "How will it change?"

"It's very simple, let everyone become the owner of super abilities!"

A strange smile appeared on Lynn's face: "After entering the second world, the player will automatically get an [ability], enter various dungeons to complete tasks, and then the ability can be improved and transformed into various super abilities..."

As he explained, light curtains passed in front of Professor X.

These were all dungeon copies.

Action-type Devil May Cry, Prince of Persia, Assassin's Creed...

PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds, Overwatch...

Sci-fi StarCraft, Avatar, Halo...

Alien monsters, Godzilla, monster hunting...

Lord of the Rings, World of Warcraft, Pirates of the Caribbean...

Fighting Street Fighter, King of Fighters...

Definitely, there would be many copies of classic horror like The Shining, The Grudge, etc.

There were no fewer than hundreds of densely packed copies, making Professor X's scalp tingle.

Although many had hints of [Insufficient Development], showing only a framework without content, it fully demonstrated that Lynn was well-prepared!

He even prepared a lot of leisure copies for various NBA, FIFA, beach, seabed, etc., for those players who liked leisure!

No wonder he called [Oasis] the second world!

A completely real yet extraordinary experience of the second world!

"There are so many games in this world. In the past, players could only 'watch' their characters fly into the sky and battle fiercely, but in the second world, they can experience it themselves!"

Lynn was very satisfied with Professor X's expression: "Although in reality, they are still just ordinary people, as long as they want, they can experience the extraordinary in the second world... and become extraordinary!"

"By that time, will their attitude towards mutants change?"

Professor X was too shocked to speak.

Lynn randomly selected a copy.

[Dungeon of World of Warcraft, enter]

Accompanied by a burst of light and shadow changes, the next moment, the two of them appeared in a vast world.

In the forest below, a dense army of orcs rushed out of the canyon, shouting "For the Horde," while on the opposite side, the human coalition army was waiting in full force, with various skills and magic lights shining endlessly.

"Don't humans hate those ugly mutants? So let them become orcs in the second world. After a long time, Professor, do you think they will care more about powerful strength or ugly appearance?"

Lynn's voice seemed to ring directly in his soul.

Professor X's mind shook violently.

He was the top psychologist in the world, but at that moment, he suddenly realized that his understanding of human nature was not as deep as the young student beside him.

A game could not make ordinary people accept mutants.

But this game was so real!

Real and personal experience was no different!

Who could say no to such an experience?

When those players became extraordinary in the second world and felt the power of super abilities, even if they returned to the real world and became ordinary people again, their attitudes towards mutants would inevitably undergo huge changes!

Professor X could even predict that there would be countless players addicted to the second world, unwilling to leave!

So, what Lynn envisioned...

Through the establishment of the Mutant Consortium, infiltrate the human world, control the right to speak, and then change the living environment of mutants...

Most likely!

With this in mind, Professor X made a rare gaffe!

He turned around abruptly, grabbed Lynn's shoulder, and his usually calm eyes trembled uncontrollably at that moment:

"Say, Lynn, how much do you... need?"
