Chereads / Reincarnated As Enemies / Chapter 8 - Dungeon

Chapter 8 - Dungeon

Steve stood in front of the dungeon entrance wondering about how to get into it.

"Maybe there's a button or a lever", he said to himself.

He looked at the rocks that were surrounding the dark wall. Then he tried to find something in the trees that were around, the rocks, everything. He even grabbed a deer to see if it had a button.

He looked at the entrance of the dungeon, trying to break it with his sword, but he wasn't able to.

"Let's see if I find something enhancing my eyes", he thought.

When he did, he looked at the surroundings, but he didn't find a single thing resembling a button or a lever.

After a whole hour of searching, he looked at the dark wall with his enhanced eyes.

"Bingo!", he thought with excitement. He hadn't seen a button nor a lever, but a tiny hole in the wall.

"I need a key", Steve realized.

As soon as he realized that, he started creating a key with his aura.

"Here I go!", he thought excited, excitement which immediately changed into frustration due to the key not working.

"Of course that the first one wouldn't work", he thought trying to improve his mood.

Then he tried to create another one... and another one... and another one. He kept creating keys as fast as he could, with shapes he couldn't even imagine a key could have.

He kept creating keys for hours until he gave up.

"WHY DOES NOTHING WORK IN THE FIRST ATTEMPT!?", he asked to a frog that was watching him.

The frog croaked and jumped out of his sight.

"Ok frog, I don't need you!", he said angered.

He wondered about what to do digging holes in the lake's bottom with his sword.

He saw how the water flowed, filling instantly each hole he made.

"Don't tell me...", he said with excitement. Every hope he had lost came back to him

As soon as he saw that, he created an aura square.

"Ok, if I want a liquid, I need the particles to be apart of each other.", he thought. And that's exactly what he started to do.

He slowly moved the particles away of each other, making the aura square more slimy by each passing second.

"This is harder than it looks", he thought struggling to keep doing what he was doing.

After ten whole minutes, he was satisfied. A liquid substance was floating over his hand. He had made a liquid out of his aura.

"Ok, here goes nothing...", he said nervous about the chance that it wouldn't work.

Then he started pouring his liquid aura into the hole until it was totally full. Then he solidified his aura, and after that he spinned it like a key, but nothing happened.

"OH, COME ON!", he shouted. "WHAT DID I DO WRONG THIS TIME!?".

He was so angry that he strongly punched the aura that was in the hole, pushing it further, making a click sound that made the dark wall dissapear, revealing that what Steve had created wasn't a key, but a long pole.

"SO THERE WAS A BUTTON AFTER ALL!", he shouted frustrated, and after that he went to enter the dungeon.

Just when he was about to get into it, he stopped. He created and aura ball and made it enter the dungeon.

"Just in case that this is a trap", he thought remembering the mangas he had read.

When the ball got into the dungeon, Steve felt a bit weird, like if five whole hours of pouring aura into the ball had passed, just for leaving it for a minute.

He retrieved the ball and he felt the energy he had lost returning to his body.

"Hmm, so time is altered inside the dungeon, but when you exit the dungeon you come back to normal. It didn't close so it isn't a trap", he thought. "Well, let's go!", he said and ran inside the dungeon.

It was a dark place, that was only illuminated by torches that were hanging on the walls. It had various hallways to explore. Steve counted five of them.

He didn't see anything, even with his enhanced eyes. The inside of each path was too dark.

"Well, let's go to the first one", he thought and started walking towards it.

He created a glowing aura ball to see in the darkness and continued his journey.

"Hmm... when will monsters appear?", he wondered while walking with a slow pace.

He had been walking for over an hour, but no monsters appeared.

Some time after that, he started hearing noise. It seemed that people were talking.

Steve got near them and then he hid behind a wall, with enough space for him to see them.

There were three people around a bonfire: an old woman and two teenagers. The woman had calm black eyes, short gray hair, a white shirt whith blood stains, tall brown boots, long blue pants and a belt where a book and a sword resided.

The first of the two teenagers had short brown hair and weared blue clothes made with leather. He had black eyes.

The other one had brown hair and brown eyes, also wearing clothes made with blue leather.

"Are they a familly?", Steve thought while looking at them carefully.

Then the brown eyed teenager said: "Mom, wait me for a second".

The second he said that, he dissapeared. Even If Steve was enhancing his eyes with aura, he was unable to see where he went.

"I should get out of here", Steve thought.

Steve started walking silently towards the exit, but something grabbed him from his robe. It was the teen that had dissapeared. He was grabbing him while pointing a knife at his throat.

"Mom! I captured a monster with cool horns!", he exclaimed excitedly. "Can I keep it?", he asked after that.

"I'm not a pet!", Steve shouted angered.

He forced Steve to walk towards the bonfire while Steve was trying to take his knife away from his throat, but the teen was too strong.

"Oh honey, that's a demon, not a monster", the woman explained.

"What's the difference? Can I have a pet demon?", the teen asked.

"No you can't. They are like humans", the woman stated. "Now, take your knife away from his throat".

The teen, with a disappointed look, followed what he was said to do. Steve immediately created some distance between them, and then he drew his sword, taking a defensive stance.

"Poor kid, he was trapped too", the woman said with gloomy eyes.

"Wait... Trapped? What does she mean? The wall didn't appear again", Steve thought.

"Oh, no". Steve ran towards the exit as fast as he could.

"Follow him so he knows how to return", the woman said to the kid that was standing up.

"Why me?", he asked annoyed.

"You are already standing, so you go", she told to the brown eyed teen.

"Ugh... ok", he mumbled annoyed, followed by him running to where Steve was.

He almost instantly catched to him, but Steve didn't care. He just kept running towards the exit.

When he arrived, he saw what he didn't want to see. The was entrance closed.

"Why does nothing work like I want to!?", he complained angered. "First i die, then i can't use magic, and now I'm trapped in a dungeon!", Steve shouted making echo in the dungeon.

He grabbed his sword and started trying to cut the exit, but it was too hard, just like it was from the outside.

"My mom told me that the same happened to her", the teen said with compassion.

"What, were you born here?" Steve asked ironically.

"Umm... yea! How did you know?", he asked.

"I just guessed", Steve answered.

"Well, let's go back home", the teen said.

"This isn't my home", Steve stated.

"It is now", the teen said.

Steve, angered by what he said, screamed: "My home is out there!" pointing to the closed wall.

"This is your home now", the teen insisted with a look of pity on his eyes.

"NO IT'S NOT! I ALREADY HAVE A FAMILY I CREATED A BOND WITH", Steve screamed at the top of his lungs and jumped towards the teen to attack him with his sword. The teen dodged it effortlessly.

"Why is he so much faster than me!?", Steve thought. "I literally can teleport. Well... not literally, but I can".

He attacked from the bottom, from the sides, from above; he tried to make feints so he was able to hit the teen, but as always, it didn't work.

Steve attacked to try to forget that he had been separated from the family he had created a bond with. He attacked out of how frustrated he was about nothing working when he wants to. Steve attacked due to the regret of embarking on a dungeon adventure, dungeon which was a trap. He just discharged all of his anger towards that teen, who didn't attack back. He only dodged each of Steve's attacks.

Then, out of nowhere, the teen fastly moved to the side of Steve and knocked him out by hitting him on the neck. Steve fell to the ground unconscious and the teen started carrying him towards his new home.
