The Book of Old Monsters is a diary written by hundreds of owners in the past. It is currently being expanded more and more as it is easier to find new information in the technological age.
The book is made out of an unknown dark brown leather, earlier presumed to be human, however DNA tests show unidentified creature's data. The only writing on its cover is its name in the language of the current owner.
It is written in many languages and with different handwritings, however, the owner of the book can always read what is written, despite the language difference even if the page becomes obsolete and unreadable.
Different owners left footnotes and comments making the book look more and more confusing. (Just as this segment is out of place, however I do not want to move it - G.B.)
The first chapter was written in ancient Greece and contains information about how the book works and what it is for. These chapters have been moved to the "introductions" section in 1905 by Gerald Brown as ordered by the Foundation.
The sections and chapters were organized in 1906 by Gerald Brown due to the inconsistencies in them. No information has been removed as the pages can not be removed from the book, only pages can be added or reordered by the owner's will.
All the information found in the book was confirmed by the foundation from 1870 to 1956 when the book was lost by them and came into an unknown person's possession. All new information since then has to be used with caution! (I'm only writing this for later owners so that they proceed with caution! I don't intend to contact whatever foundation is written here or give out my personal information!)
About the mystical powers of the book:
The book is a semi-living being as it has its thoughts and feelings. It also requires information as sustenance and will go dormant if not provided with it. In this case, it is advised to provide information for it as the monsters will target the owner as soon as it goes dormant!
The book chooses its owners unless the present owner convinces it to be a specific person. Once the owner gives up their ownership or their life ends, the book will disappear and reappear in the new owner's house. All owners' names and times of possession can be found on the last page of the book. Some owners have scribbled their names so they are unrecognizable.
The book will do anything in its power to protect its owner from the monsters written in it. It will stop most of them from invading the owner's mind or affecting them in any way, however, the book is not omnipotent and won't be able to stop all the high-risk ones (the ones it can not stop are marked with a blood-red cat eye).
Organization of the book:
The monsters in the book have been organized in two ways, by their presence and their danger level.
Their presence can be psychic or physical.
The psychic ones are more common, parasetic creatures that invade the victim's mind, only visible and hearable by them while they feed on their negative feelings and/or life force. The victim will feel like they experience visions when they are being fed upon, but do not mistake them for hallucinations! The beings are real and can cause the same harm to the host as if they were there physically, if not more due to their connection to the host brain and the psychic powers they use on them!
The physical monsters can be seen and heard by anyone, however, they rarely show up for more than one person and they get rid of any unwanted guests. Their physical provess sometimes do not match their look and even the smallest ones can overpower a tiger. (I saw it happen in the Roman Colosseum during a slave's fight)
Their danger levels can be organized into 3 types. Manageable, low-risk, and high-risk ones. This is also the usual order for the monsters in each section.
Manageable ones can be dealt with or at least survived with minor injuries, if the host follows specific actions. However, they are still dangerous and can seriously injure or end the life of the host if they are angered or provoked.
Low-risk ones can not be managed by any means, however, they will only cause minor injuries or inflict mental trauma to the host. They only end their host if they are angered, provoked, or somehow hurt. (the only time one was confirmed to get hurt was when a Creep was shot by a Panzerkampfwagen VI. Although it was barely hurt, it stopped for a moment and screamed in an ungodly voice out of anger and tore the tank apart. FYI there is no information on this type of monster ever making a noise before or after the incident)
High-risk ones rarely survived and only barely. You can only count on your luck if you are their target.
General information on the monsters:
These beings come from either another dimension or another plane of existence as they are not a natural occurrence in this dimension.
They target and attach to a host, which they either invade (in the case of psychic ones) or stalk (in the case of physical ones).
They seem to feed on the negative energies and/or life force of the host and their favorite energy seems to be fear. They can follow a host for years without showing themselves, or only show up from time to time, sometimes in their dreams. They favor hosts that have very negative moods in general.
If you have no information on the monster you encounter, but you know it is one from the book, DO NOT BE BRAVE, FEAR THEM, and remember, any contact with these creatures can lead to d or serious injuries.
