Meanwhile, the events unfolded exactly the way Airaj said. Galhad called Talindra and informed her the very next instant. Before everyone could exit the board room, he had called his daughter. Most often she would not have picked up his phone, she hated her father, but she knew he was calling to give her the news, the good news that Baraion lost, and she defeated Baraion. As soon as she heard the news, she paid Airaj. She was always true to her promise.
In the meantime, Edhelriel wanted to be the first one to tell her that she won. So, leaving all her duties, she kept trying to call Talindra but her phone was busy. She tried again and again and at last Talindra picked it up.
"Hello!" greeted Talindra. One could hear the victory and pride in her voice, but Edhelriel missed it completely.
"You won," shouted Edhelriel and started jumping up and down with happiness.
"I know," said Talindra without any happiness in her tone. It appeared as if she were aware that no matter what happened she would win. She was now a true businesswoman. Everything was a business transaction for her. Also, her father already informed her.
"How?" Edhelriel was surprised.
"Galhad called," explained Talindra.
Edhelriel was surprised, "you talked to him."
"I knew he was calling to give me the news that I won. He was in contact with Airaj for me. And now, I am the head of two departments," said Talindra, coolly.
Before Edhelriel could reply, Drelduin intervened, "I have been calling you. Where are you busy?" He then stopped talking and asked, "talking to T2?"
"Yes," replied Edhelriel.
"Told her?" asked Drelduin.
"Her father told her," replied Edhelriel.
"She spoke to him?" he was shocked. "Give me the phone," requested Drelduin.
"He wants to talk to you," said Edhelriel into the phone.
"Okay."
He took the phone, placed it near his ear, and said in an urgent tone, "how did you do it?"
"Do what? I did nothing," mocked Talindra. Her smugness was so obvious.
"Don't act smart, you know what I am asking," emphasized Drelduin.
"No, I don't know," teased Talindra. Drelduin said nothing he just growled on the phone. "As if your growl would work on me," taunted Talindra.
"Fine, I beg you. I, Alpha Drelduin Finrandir, beg you, tell me how you did that and how I had no idea," pleaded Drelduin.
"Calm the f*ck down. It was simple, 100 million Koruna and an internship for his niece in the Boucherlow Island office."
"You bribed him?" Drelduin was surprised.
"Yes, of course. Is that news to you? Do you have any idea how many people bribed him?" asked Talindra.
"How many?" he shouted.
"You are slipping brother. Now your sense of smell is getting weak. You couldn't smell the money," taunted Talindra.
"All of them?" asked Drelduin, shocked.
"Yes, all of them. Everyone wanted something from him, everyone wanted someone from their clan to be nominated," informed Talindra.
"How did you succeed?" asked Drelduin.
"I told him that humans must win, I used the human factor, dear bro. Clan war is over but not really over," said Talindra.
"What?" shouted Drelduin in surprise.
"Seriously, how are you CEO? I should take your job. I am going to talk to Aunt Ilyrana," teased Talindra.
"Don't act smart after winning. Winners are always humble people. Act like a winner, be humble," pouted Drelduin.
"When have I ever lost?" mocked Talindra. The smugness was back in her voice with a little chuckle.
"Should I remind you," taunted Drelduin.
"Do you want me to kill you?"
"Leave it, when will you be here?" Drelduin changed the topic.
"Uhh…" she groaned. It was clear that she didn't want to return. She was returning under pressure. Now she had to as the Board of Directors had to be present in the head office in Dainava. "Tomorrow afternoon," replied Talindra.
"And when is your flight?" questioned Drelduin.
"Of course, tonight," she grumbled.
"So, it is not a direct flight?" Drelduin continued his line of questions.
"No, I have a halt in Muscat," she said stoically. But everyone could hear the groans coming out of her heart. She was very much dreading the fact that she had to return and then work with Baraion. She would have to look at his stupid face every day.
"Yeah, you sound so excited," taunted Drelduin. He could hear the constant sigh out of Talindra's mouth.
"Are you done teasing? You know I didn't want to come back," scolded Talindra.
"Come on, it's been years, I am sorry for bringing that up. Forget about what happened. Move on," suggested Drelduin.
"Not until I destroy the vampires, especially the Dracul clan. I am never going to forgive him," said Talindra with bitterness in her voice.
"You are winning. What more do you want?" asked Drelduin.
"Everything!! Every single thing he possesses, I will take everything from him. He will be stripped and left with nothing," enunciated Talindra.
"T2! You need to let the anger go," said Drelduin with all the love he could muster. He wanted his sworn sister to be happy.
But she was not interested in his advice. She changed the topic, "I have to pack my bags and arrange things here. I will talk to you when I reach Dainava."
"One more thing," interrupted Drelduin. He knew she would get angry again.
"What?" growled Talindra. She too knew what he was going to say.
"Will you attend your welcome party?" asked Drelduin.
"Isn't that the retirement party?" contrasted Talindra.
"Same."
"No," she denied, flatly.
"Please for me?" purred Drelduin.
"No," she outright rejected his proposal.
"Please, pretty please," he pleaded.
"Are you making your puppy eyes?" Talindra rolled her eyes.
"What if I am?" said Drelduin in a sweet voice.
"I am disconnecting the phone," she sounded frustrated.
Now Drelduin changed his tactic. "So, you are afraid of facing him?" he taunted, again.
"That's your stupid reverse psychology?" asked Talindra. "Don't you have some other tactic?"
"Is it working?" asked Drelduin.
"Maybe. I will call you when I land," said Talindra with finality in her voice.
"Great! Then you are not scared of facing him," taunted Drelduin.
"Ha-ha, you are so funny, so very funny," said Talindra in a stoic tone.
"T2! Let me pick you up from the airport," requested Drelduin.
"No need. I have my security team," said Talindra.
"At least let me send Edhelriel. She can help."
"I said no!"
"Okay fine, boss, bye," said Drelduin.
"Bye."
Drelduin sighed after his sister disconnected the call. He has been requesting her to come back for years. He was happy when his other sister, Talilia came back a year ago. He thought Talindra would follow her, but she never came back and finally, she was coming. He had to give a grand party for her.
