"I…" The flames in Valeric's eyes died, and he let go of her. "You are misunderstanding me." The words fell out of his mouth, but he felt detached from his own body as he stared down at Stella.
Stella's chest rose and she fell into heavy breathing. He was finding it hard to say something that made sense, afraid that one wrong word would shatter everything before him.
"You disgust me." Stella sighed, and her hands helplessly dropped to her side. "I hate you, Valeric." There were visible battles storming in her blue eyes.
She made that hateful expression, and he felt the knot forming in his stomach tighten.
"Let me go."
"No." His chest felt as if a knife was steadily piercing it.
"But I don't want to be here with you. I don't—"
"You are mine!"
