Arshe wasn't surprised when Joe arrived at his mansion in the early hours of the morning. The older man's face was etched with displeasure, but Arshe felt a surge of satisfaction knowing that Joe understood the dynamics of their relationship well enough not to refuse his summons.
When Arshe conquered Zane's pack, Joe would be given authority over it, though Arshe would remain the Alpha, with Joe serving merely as a figurehead. This unspoken hierarchy gave Arshe a sense of control, one he relished.
"It sounded urgent," Joe said, his voice laced with the remnants of forced cordiality after giving Arshe the usual hearty greetings.
