Arshe leaned back in his chair, studying Joe with a calculated expression. "Don't say a word to Tahra about Maeve's child. Just talk to her as you normally would," he ordered, his tone calm but firm. There was no room for debate.
Joe nodded, bowing his head low to show respect. "I understand," he replied, ready to take his leave. He turned towards the door, but before he could exit, Arshe's voice cut through the room, chilling and blunt.
"Joe, I know you'll betray me. But we both know you can't afford to do it yet."
Joe froze for a moment, his hand resting on the door handle. He slowly turned around, his face hidden as he bowed even lower this time, hands resting on his chest in a show of submission. "Alpha Arshe, I would never," he said smoothly, the lie slipping effortlessly from his lips.
