As they entered the lobby, they were greeted by the sight of an elderly woman fast asleep behind the reception desk. Tahra smothered a laugh, amused by the scene and Zane's growing impatience. He was already moving toward the desk, his frustration evident, but she quickly reached out, gently tapping the counter before he could wake the woman with a much less subtle approach.
The old woman stirred, slowly wiping her eyes as she blinked at them, her gaze finally settling on the pair. "Lovers, eh?" she muttered, her voice thick with sleep. A snide look crossed her face, and it was clear she was about to say something more when Zane's icy glare cut her off. The words died on her lips as she seemed to reconsider, and instead, she focused on getting them a room.
