"I'm sorry, Arshe, I don't think you should keep coming here," Tahra said.
He heard each word loud and clear, but instead of responding to something he was yet to fully understand, he simply got back on his feet and fixed his eyes on Tahra. A few seconds of silence passed before Tahra opened her mouth again to speak.
"We can't be friends. We should stop pretending to be," she said, words that only seemed to confuse Arshe more as he furrowed his brows together, a perplexed look on his face.
The look on Tahra's face bordered on guilt, and he was still trying to understand what she could have possibly done when it suddenly clicked in his head. She likes me? Either that or she's falling for me but is too afraid to admit it, he thought.
