Chereads / Missing History / Chapter 4 - ACT 2 - Mala

Chapter 4 - ACT 2 - Mala

The villagers of Nuringham started their walk towards a town only a few of them knew. The men carried the village's necessities and tools, while the women accompanied the children and animals. The mayor led the walk, and the villagers followed behind. Andy and Mala were walking separately from the rest of the crowd; they had talks during their travels.

"Hey, brother Andy, are you alright? Your battle with the knights earlier looked really rough," Mala asked.

Andy chuckles, as he didn't consider it much of a hassle.

"I'm fine; I've had worse experiences," he responds.

Mala was a bit shocked, since he never expected Andy to be able to fight with such skill—he knew he was capable of fighting, sure, but he never saw it for himself.

"Well, I'm glad you aren't hurt. Though, I am curious, what was that weapon you used? The weapon that made those loud noises? I didn't get a good look at it?" says Mala.

Andy had only realized what he did; he had used a modern weapon in a time when it didn't exist yet.

"Oh shit, I forgot pistols weren't a thing yet," Andy thought to himself as he tried to make up a lie about what it was.

"It was a type of slingshot that can shoot small iron balls at high speeds. That loud bang comes from the impact of the balls on people. It was given to me by a blacksmith friend of mine; it's the only one that exists," said Andy.

That lie sounded really stupid in Andy's mind, but by chance, Mala was convinced and therefore astonished.

"That's amazing! Your blacksmith friend must be a professional hunter as well!" said Mala.

"Nah, he's just friends with people like me. He knows a thing or two about what I need," Andy replied.

Mala was intrigued, though visibly a bit lost. Andy is well aware that the things he carries are too modern to blend in with the world around him, but there was nothing much he could do except try to fit in. After about two and a half hours of walking, the village was tired of walking and settled down in an open spot in the forest. The families sit on the grass and eat some of the food that they brought. Some ate fruit, some ate bread, and some ate meat. Andy, on the other hand, walked away from the villagers and hid behind a tree to record another entry on his smartwatch.

"Agent Andy, again. A day has passed since I got sent here. I found a village named 'Nuringham' spelled November, Uniform, Romeo, India, November, Golf, Hotel, Alpha, Mike. I took refuge in it for the night. Look, pardon my French, but, holy shit, the knights in this place are persistent as hell.

They found me in the village, and I had to kill more guards. The village had to move out and find another place to live. I feel bad about it, but we can't really risk them getting killed by those fuckers. I don't know where we are headed, but I trust that the mayor of the town knows what the fuck he's doing.

I don't see anything new for now, though it's interesting that the part of the forest I'm in hasn't burned down. I wonder how that is. Anyway, that's it for now."

Shortly after Andy had stopped recording his entry, Mala appeared behind Andy, holding bread with cooked beef on it.

"Hello, Andy. Who were you talking to just now?" Mala asked, and he seemed to be in a bright mood today.

Andy was startled by him; he instantly covered the light coming from the smartwatch's user interface.

"I was just thinking aloud. Sorry, I tend to do that sometimes," says Andy, lying again in an attempt to cover up the technology of the present.

Mala didn't think much of this.

"Oh, I see, that's fine. Would you like some of this bread? It has meat on it," Mala said, handing him the bread. Andy took the bread and thanked him.

It tasted okay—nothing too surprising, but reliable for times like this.

Mala sat down to talk to Andy, "Hey, as I was getting some food, I overheard a few things the other people are talking about. Sorry to say, they aren't too fond of you."

Andy rested his back on the tree behind him and sighed, "I'm not surprised. I basically made them move out of their homes; I don't blame them for not really liking me."

Andy stared blankly at the grass and his watch, thinking about how he has to deal with the queen and her knights. Mala looked back at the townsfolk, and they all looked at him with suspicion, whispering gossip into each other's ears. He turned back to Andy.

"I trust you, Andy. I trust that you can help us," he says, again with a smile.

Andy chuckled for a bit, saying, "Quite optimistic of you; I, myself, don't know how to go about this situation. I appreciate it though."

A few minutes later, the villagers started packing up their things to continue their walk.

"Oh, it looks like we're going to start walking again. I'll help you up," said Mala, pulling Andy up from the grass.

Once everyone had finished packing, the walk went on again. The mayor then made an announcement.

"In about an hour, we will reach our destination!"

The villagers let out a sigh of relief as they kept walking. Similar to when the townsfolk first started their trip, Andy and Mala walked a few feet behind the rest of the crowd. Andy could only think about the villagers and going back home.

"Those engineers should be able to fix the machine soon, hopefully in a week. Fuck, what do I even do now? Killing all the knights does nothing in the long run; nothing will change for them. I don't want to do all this, but then again, I also don't want to leave them. I'll just see what happens, I guess." Andy thought deeply, only staring at the ground as he walks.

Mala noticed this; Andy looked pretty distant, though he said nothing as he didn't want to interrupt anything.

Several minutes passed, and Andy was still deep in thought. Silence only lingers between him and Mala.

Mala couldn't really keep walking with the awkwardness, so he tried to strike up a conversation.

"Andy, I know this is a bit out of nowhere, but I have a question," says Mala.

Andy was still distracted by his own thoughts and was surprised by the sudden talk.

"Oh- uh... go ahead," Andy answered.

"What was it like back in the queen's castle?" Mala asked. Andy proceeded to describe his experiences when he was under arrest.

"The place wasn't half bad, though their dungeon was pretty old. I assume it was there before she started ruling," he said.

Mala followed by saying, "Yes, it was. Her family has ruled over the kingdom for decades now. Her father was the best king we have ever heard of; he was a blessing. I don't know about Queen Solia; she's like the opposite, she's like a curse over our land."

Andy listened as a thought came up in his head, "So, I was right about the place being worn down. Goddamn..."

Andy continues to describe what he experienced in the castle, "It's just kinda funny that I think one of the knights hate my guts. I didn't even do anything. I mean, I did kill some of them, but you know what I mean."

Mala only nodded in response; he couldn't really think of anything else to say after that.

An hour of walking later, it was mostly silence between the two, with minimal small talk about the queen and her knights.

The villagers were tired from all the walking; some of them slowed down, drenched in sweat; some of them were carried by other villagers; some just sat on the grass to rest.

The mayor of Nuringham then announced, "We are almost there!" as he pointed towards a small slope.

There was a town at the end of the slope, bigger than Nuringham; it didn't even feel like just a town; it looked like a city.

The town was spacious, the houses were built of stone and wood, and they even looked stronger than the ones back in the village. The villagers cheered as they walked towards the place.

"Andy, we are here!" Mala said as he patted his shoulder.

Andy was so distracted and unresponsive during the trip that he was a bit startled by him, but he was relieved nonetheless.

The villagers walked toward the town; paths made of stone were laid down at the front of it. There was a sign next to the paths; it had the town's name on it. The sign read, "Denborua."

"Denborua, I see," Andy thought to himself, setting foot into the town.

The townsfolk of Denborua were surprised by having so many people in a group enter the area that a few of them thought it was some sort of attack at first. But they calmed down when they recognized Nuringham's mayor, as he had political connections and operations with the Denborua mayor years prior.

Some of the townsfolk even went up to some of the traveling villagers, greeting them and checking up on them.

Andy looked around the town; it was interesting to him to see such old structures. Mala noticed him observing the place; he then said, "This place is nice, is it not?"

"This place looks good; I actually haven't seen anything like it," Andy responded.

Mala chuckles as he follows, "I have been here a few times; I actually have friends here. The times that I went here, I helped some people with woodworking and other things."

Andy nodded as a response.

A few minutes passed with chatter coming from the commoners, and a cart driven by horses approached the crowd of Nuringham villagers. Nuringham's mayor then shook hands with the person who rode the cart; this person turned out to be the mayor of Denborua.

"Greetings, Mayor Coraphus," said Denborua's mayor.

"Greetings to you as well, Mayor Katho," Nuringham's mayor responded.

"I've been informed of your arrival, though I didn't expect so many people with you. Is there a problem?" Mayor Katho asked.

Coraphus sighed as he responded, "My village was attacked by Soland knights. There were no casualties for my people, but it was unsafe for us to stay there. So, we came to you in hopes for your assistance."

The townsfolk of Denborua was surprised, and chattering between the citizens of the two communities arose.

"That's horrible! Why would they attack you?" the concerned Mayor Katho asked.

Andy stepped into the conversation to explain the situation to him.

"I was wrongfully arrested by the knights. They have been hunting for me ever since I escaped," the agent explained.

"Oh my, how is that possible? I have never heard of anyone escaping the queen. Usually, the arrested are never able to escape," Mayor Katho exclaimed.

Andy tries to shrug off the impression of him possibly being an agent.

"I guess I'm just lucky. But that's not important, Mr. Katho. What's important is that we find a way to keep the citizens safe and put a stop to all this."

When Mayor Katho saw the genuineness in Andy, he realized the gravity of the situation. Katho nodded in response to Andy's explanation.

"I see. Let's have a discussion in my office," he says.

Andy and the two mayors walk to the town hall. It was one of the bigger structures in the area.

The town hall was built with stone walls and iron frames for support. The windows were bigger compared to the houses in the town, and the sunlight filled the room similar to how modern light bulbs would. The room itself had a bunch of papers, they seemed to be appeals and requests from the townsfolk.

A desk is set in front of Andy and Mayor Coraphus. Katho sits on the desk to start the discussion.

"So, I see that the village of Nuringham is in a state of danger. I'm really sorry to hear that," Mayor Katho said.

"I went to you because we agreed to help each other's communities whenever necessary. I request that you allow my people to settle themselves in Denborua; there's no other place we can go," Mayor Coraphus responded. Katho reached his hand out to Coraphus, and they shook hands.

"I'll make sure your people will be safe in your town. I'll provide camps for your people," Katho followed.

Coraphus lowered his head in thanks. "I appreciate your generosity, Mayor Katho," he says. Katho then turns to Andy.

"Now, I never got your name. But, if I heard correctly, you were wrongfully arrested?" the mayor asked. Andy nods and explains his situation.

"My name is Andy, and, yes, I was wrongfully arrested by the knights. I was travelling and the knights saw me, saying I was trespassing. I ended up in their dungeon for several hours, needing to escape. I did escape, but not without killing some of their knights."

Mayor Katho was shocked and audibly gasped at what he said.

"You killed the queen's knights?! They are very strong! How did you manage to kill them?" he exclaimed.

Andy brushed it off and said, "If the knights are truly strong, then the ones I killed weren't."

Mayor Katho then looked at Mayor Coraphus, who also couldn't wrap his head around Andy's capabilities.

Andy proceeded to address his concern.

"Well, I'm here now because of her knights attacking the village. And, to keep it short, I want them down. I can't do it alone, so I'm asking if there is anyone else you two know who can settle this dispute with me."

The two mayors felt uneasy about this request.

"I'm sorry, Mr. Andy, but we don't know how to fight them. None of us know anything about their defense or their weaknesses. It would be irresponsible to fight them head on in our current state," said Mayor Katho.

"Do you have any suggestions about how we can deal with them? You have been inside the area; maybe you can think of a plan," followed Mayor Coraphus.

Andy sighed as he laid back in his seat, hands resting on his laps. "There is a hole in the walls around the perimeter of the kingdom, but that's all I know."

"You don't know anything about the castle?" one of the mayors asked.

"No, unfortunately, I broke out as fast as I could, so I didn't take time to look around."

Mayor Katho declined this request until further notice.

"I'm sorry, but we can't fight an enemy we know nothing about. We also don't have people that are trained enough to fight those knights."

Andy looked up at the ceiling, thinking about what else he could do.

He remained silent for a short while and suggested something he felt was the only way to convince the mayors.

"If you need to know more about the area, what if I go back?"

"That's too dangerous, Andy! You barely survived escaping the castle, and now you are willing to go back?!" Mayor Katho exclaimed.

Andy only chuckled.

"Who said I barely survived? I escaped the place unharmed; I can do it again," he says, rather smug.

The two mayors still looked worried about the agent, but Coraphus had faith in him.

"I trust him, Mayor Katho. He did fight off the knights that attacked our village. I think he can do it," said Mayor Coraphus.

Katho took a moment to think about it.

"Can Andy actually do this?" he thought.

After a moment of evaluation, the mayor made his choice.

"Okay, I trust you too, Andy. Is there anything you need for this operation, at least?" says Mayor Katho.

Andy crossed his arms. "I just need a small cart to go there. I'll waste daylight walking back," he says.

Katho offers the cart he took when greeting the Nuringham mayor, to which Andy agrees.

"I'll go there after dark," said Andy.

A crowd from the two communities formed outside the town hall, concerned about what they could be talking about and what could potentially happen to them. The three walked out of the town hall, asking about what's next for them.

Andy spoke up, and everyone heard his voice.

"We will fight the knights, but not now! I will go back to the castle, and I'll come back with a plan. Stay put, and pray that we are given the strength we need to prevail!"

This created a divide between the commoners; on one hand, a good amount of the townsfolk cheered, while others seemed unsure or even appalled.

Mala went up to Andy and dragged him aside.

"Are you sure about this, Andy? You trust us to be able to fight off the knights? What will happen to us? What if this doesn't work?" Mala said in a bit of a panic.

Andy put his hand on Mala's shoulder.

"Look, fighting is the last thing I want to do, but there isn't much else for us to do about them. I'm going back to the castle during the night; I can at least try to make a plan," responded Andy.

Andy starts to walk away towards a patch of trees near the area. He briefly stopped walking, giving Mala an order.

"I suggest you prepare yourself, Mala. I'm taking you with me later; I need someone to guide me around, and I don't want the horses driving the cart we'll be using to run off somehow. If you wanna bring others with us, go ahead," says Andy, walking away towards the trees.

He laid back on one of the trees, recording an entry on his smartwatch.

"Agent Andy, again. Me and the villagers of Nuringham were able to move to another place. It's a town named 'Denborua' spelled Delta, Echo, November, Beta, Oscar, Romeo, Uniform, Alpha. The town is bigger than Nuringham and looks more economically stable, so I trust that we'll be safe here for now.

I was able to talk to the mayor of the town, and they agreed to help shelter the villagers. I'll be going back to Soland to see what other information I can get from this fucking place. The knights haven't been here just yet, but I'll be on the lookout. That's it for now."

A few hours have passed, the sun has set and the moon has risen, and Andy is preparing to go back to the castle. Mala walked up to him, carrying bread.

"Hello, Andy. I have bread; we should eat before we go," he says.

Andy could still hear it in Mala's voice that he was still nervous about going to the castle; he sounded timid and quiet.

"I can see that you're still anxious; I'm also kind of on edge," says Andy as he takes the bread.

As they ate the bread, Mayor Katho approached the two with the cart they're going to end up using.

"Hello, Andy. Here's the cart you are going to use. Is there anything else we can provide you with?" said the mayor.

"No, I don't need anything else. Thank you," Andy responded.

The mayor bowed his head and left.

Mala proceeds to hold the reins of the horse to have it stay until they have to leave.

"Is there anyone else going with you?" Andy asked, and Mala shook his head in response.

They both mentally composed themselves to start their trip to Soland. Andy got on the cart while Mala drove the horse.

The trip was calm, though eerie. The silence of the forest kept both of them on edge.

"I'll be honest, Andy. I'm completely terrified of this whole task. Are you scared?" said Mala.

Andy sighed, looking down at the wooden platform of the cart.

"I've been in situations like this, but I still get a bit nervous from time to time," he responded.

About half an hour later, Andy saw the entire kingdom. It was bigger than he initially thought, like three times the size of Denborua.

The kingdom was lit with torches; it reminded Andy of city lights at night.

"Let's stop over there," says Andy, pointing at a spot nearer to the kingdom that's covered with trees.

Mala drove the horse towards the spot he had pointed at and stopped the cart.

"I'll go in; you stay here so the horse doesn't run off," Andy ordered. Mala nodded in response.

Andy's memory was a bit fuzzy on where to go, but after a few minutes of scanning the area, he had managed to find the same hole that he had used to escape from Solia's arrest.

He went through the hole, seeing knights patrolling on the other side. Andy stuck around corners to prevent being seen by the guards.

He decided to go back into the castle through the dungeon window that he had broken through to escape. The window was a bit higher up than Andy remembered, but he still managed to squeak through.

Everything he left inside the dungeon was where he left it, except the knights he had killed beforehand; their bodies were disposed of.

Andy peaked through the dungeon door, and the knights stood firm, watching over the spaces of the castle. He waited for an opportunity to move out, and fortunately for him, a couple of the knights walked away to patrol other rooms.

Andy rolled out of the dungeon, trying to prevent any possible noise he could make. He had just noticed how much was actually in the castle.

There was a big dining hall, a chapel, a ballroom, and other rooms he couldn't explore.

He sneaked around the areas of the castle, sticking by the corners and edges of the walls. He looked around for any potential weakness around the castle, but to no avail, he couldn't find one in such a rush.

He heard metallic footsteps getting louder and louder, and he ran away, trying to go back to the dungeon.

Andy then bumped full-force into one of the knights, similar to how one would perform a diving tackle.

It took a few seconds for both the agent and the knight to process what just happened, but as soon as they could think again, Andy noticed that it was a familiar face.

It was the same knight as before—the same knight that was with the queen when he was still arrested.

Andy then quickly put the knight in a chokehold, causing the knight to drop his spear.

Andy dragged the knight to a corner nearby, holding his utility knife to his neck.

"Shut the fuck up if you want to live," Andy whispered in a rather aggressive tone.

The knight continues to struggle but can't escape Andy's grasp. It took a few seconds for the knight to stop struggling, but he eventually stopped.

Other knights went down the hallway near them, investigating the noises that were just nearby.

As soon as the other guards left, Andy let go of the knight, who was then coughing and gasping for air.

"What is wrong with you!?" the knight exclaimed, still in a quiet tone.

Andy pointed his knife towards the knight.

"You better stay quiet, or I'm slitting your goddamn throat," he says.

The knight was angry, or, some could say, distressed. He tried to throw a punch towards Andy, which Andy blocked in a fluid motion.

He then proceeds to bring the knight down again, holding his face down to the floor.

"You're making stupid decisions here, man. Just tell me about your fucking queen, or the blade is through your skin," Andy taunted.

The knight could barely breathe, "You... won't... get a-anything-" he says, struggling to speak.

"Your queen's a piece of shit; she needs to go down," said Andy.

The knight's blood started to boil, and he started breathing heavily as he gritted his teeth. And then suddenly, the knight's aggression dissipated.

The knight stopped trying to struggle or even move. His face went blank, contrary to his hostile expression a few seconds ago. Andy noticed this and slowly let go of the knight.

"I don't know what is wrong or right anymore," said the knight, looking down towards the floor, "I know what the queen is doing is wrong, but I can't do anything else."

Andy was weirded out by this change in behavior, but despite that, he intently listened to the knight.

"Well, we can continue the sap story later, we need to get out of here," he said.

The knight nodded and proceeded to help Andy exit the castle without being seen by the other knights.

Both of them were led to the hole in the wall. Andy sat down and laid his back on the wall while the knight was leaning on it.

"What prompted you to work for this queen?" Andy asked, quite out of nowhere. The knight sighed.

"I was forced to become a knight because I was 'worthy' to be one. I'm not sure if that's a good thing now."

Andy looked down on the floor, nodding his head in response to what the knight said.

The knight continued, "I was strong, but I was also scared, naive, and clueless. I was scared of what would happen to me if I didn't accept her offer."

The knight fidgets with his spear, lightly poking it into the ground as he tells his story.

"In compensation for forcing me to be a knight, I was promised power and wealth. I was blinded, forced to do heartless things just because I needed something—something to make my life better."

Andy couldn't really say much to add to the conversation, but he felt compelled to say something.

"I understand," said Andy. "I'm sorry to hear that."

The knight sighs, looking at his sword and armor. All this doesn't mean anything to him now.

"I'm not the only one. I still have friends in there; they're also scared, just like me. I just pray that something puts a stop to her."

"If you put it like that, then I might be that something that you've been praying for," said Andy, in a bit of a tease but still genuine.

The knight was confused by this comment.

"What do you mean?" he asked.

"I was there trying to get information about the castle because I am helping a town fight against her," Andy responded.

The knight was undoubtedly surprised by this, and Andy continued to say, "I'd appreciate it if you helped us with this operation."

The knight took a moment to think, he thinks that this action would be a huge leap of faith for him.

As much as he doesn't know anything about Andy, he has trust in his gut. After a few seconds of thinking, the knight answered.

"I will help you," the knight responded.

Andy nodded and reached out his hand, "I'm Andy Smith."

The knight then shook his hand, "My name is Priam Esurio."

Andy then got up, dusting off his clothes for the trip back to Denborua.

"I need to go, even though I couldn't find anything of use, I still need to give them an update," Andy said.

The knight briefly stopped Andy from leaving, saying, "Wait, let me come with you."

"Is that okay? Would the knights know you're gone?" Andy asked.

The knight laughs at the comment, "There were times I leave the kingdom to inspect the area; they won't be suspicious of anything."

Andy couldn't really understand his excuse, but he trusted that he was right.

"Okay, sure. Let's go; I have a cart waiting."

The agent and the knight started their walk back to the cart. Mala, on the other hand, was walking back-and-forth anxiously. He had been waiting for quite a while before he started to get worried about the agent.

"He's taking a long time. Does sneaking into a castle usually take this long? What if something happened to him?" he thought to himself. He waited for a few more minutes until he grew too worried to stay put.

"He is taking too long. I have to check up on him," said Mala, uneasily grabbing a machete, used for overgrown plants, that he had brought before their trip.

After he grabbed his machete, he heard grass rustling in the distance. This alarms Mala; he quickly turns to the direction the sound came from, waiting for whatever could come out of it. He held his stance, tightly gripping the handle of the blade. His breaths were heavy but mostly controlled. The sound of rustling grass grew louder, until someone appeared—it was Andy. He noticed Mala holding the machete.

"Woah woah, buddy. It's just me," said the agent.

Mala sighed in relief, "I'm glad. You took a while, so I got worried." Priam then appears behind Andy.

Mala's instantly reacted, "Watch out! There's a knight behind you!" he exclaimed.

Mala prepared to swing his machete at the knight, and Andy immediately tried to calm him down.

"Take it easy, man. He's with us," said Andy, holding Mala by the shoulders to keep him from moving forward.

"But he's one of her knights; how can you trust him so easily?!" said Mala, who feels weary about having the night around.

"I have my ways. He's going to help us fight Solia; it's good to have him on our side," responded Andy. Priam nodded behind Andy, showing agreement with what he said.

Mala was still unsure about the knight, but there was no use holding that sense of distrust in this situation, so he agreed to have him on the team.

"Alright, let's work together on this. Mala, Mala Caius," he said, sighing as he reaches his hand out for a handshake.

"I'm Priam Esurio," the knight responded, shaking Mala's hand.

A few seconds after they shook hands, the knight just had a realization.

"W-wait, Caius? Your surname is... Caius?" said Priam, his voice shaking a little. Mala was confused by this sudden change in demeanor.

"Yes, is that a problem?"

"Do you happen to know... Aorus? As in, Aorus Caius?" Mala was shocked upon hearing that name.

"Yes, he's my brother," he says. Priam audibly gasps.

"He... was arrested just recently by the other knights, along with other villagers."

After hearing this, panic and worry clouded Mala's mind. He couldn't talk, he couldn't move, and he almost couldn't breathe. Mala collapsed to the ground, he had fallen to his knees. The thoughts of whatever could have or had already happened to him flashed through his mind; it overwhelmed him so much that he couldn't even cry. Andy immediately tried to calm him down, trying to shake him out of it, but Mala was panicking too much; he hyperventilated for about a minute before trying to compose himself.

"Do you have any ideas where his brother is?" Andy asked frantically while still trying to calm Mala down.

The knight shrugs, "I don't know, he's probably in the dungeon!"

Mala's voice was shaky; his voice was so quiet, it was almost ineligible. "My... brother, what's... happening to him?" he asked.

Andy shook Mala, gently but still enough to shift his focus onto him.

"Look, we'll get your brother back. Make that your goal; make it your reason to fight." Mala was still shaking, but he nodded in response.

Andy helped him up and held him over his shoulder, and the party started their trip back to Denborua. Andy was now the one driving the cart, while Mala guided him.

"Hey, Priam, do you have any idea why Solia's doing all this?" the agent asked.

"I can't say for sure. I've heard from some of the knights that she wants to be seen as a good leader, spreading lies to make her look good in the eyes of other rulers," Priam replies

"I don't think killing and imprisoning villagers makes for a good leader," Andy commented, in a bit of a sarcastic tone. "Their history would basically be gone."

Mala, who was still a bit tired from panicking, spoke up quietly but coherently. "We don't have our own stories," he says.

This caught both the agent's and the knight's attention.

"What do you mean?" Andy asked.

"Nothing is truly ours—the crops we grow, the iron that we mine, any resource that we have—it all gets taken from us," Mala answers briefly.

Priam felt guilt; his chest tightened as he heard the villager's voice, struggling to speak. "I'm sorry on behalf of my fellow knights. I never wanted this; the same can go for some of the others," the knight spoke. "Some of us are still blind. I'm not, and I don't like what I see."

Andy sighed and whispers to himself, "This place is fucked up, dude."
