Chapter 9 - Lj Parents Arrival and New Home

The morning sun brushed against my face in gentle caresses as I stirred, my mind already racing with anticipation. Kira's warm body lay beside me, blankets clinging to both of us as we formed a cocoon of warmth.

It was the first morning my parents had graced us with their presence since their vacation, and I knew it was the perfect time to formally introduce Kira as my lover.

I slipped out of bed, careful not to disturb Kira, and slipped into a pair of shorts, appreciating my lover's form as I left the room. I made my way to the kitchen where the scent of brewing coffee already greeted me.

My father sat at the table, newspaper in hand, and my mother bustled in the kitchen. "Hey, Dad. Mom," I said, giving each a quick kiss on the cheek.

"Hey, LJ. Great to be home," my father said, setting down the paper. "Mom, LJ brought someone special."

My mother joined us, a croissant on its way to her apron-covered self. "Aw, a little surprise for us, LJ? We didn't know you had a special someone." She paused, clearly noting the lack of someone standing behind me.

"She's in bed still; I didn't want to wake her just yet," I replied, savoring the moment. "I'll bring her down in a sec."

Knocking softly on the door to the bedroom, I called out, "Kira, love, your cup of tea's waiting downstairs. My parents are here, and I'd like you to meet them. They remember you from when you were little."

There was a moment of quiet before she called out, "Alright. Coming."

Leaving her to get dressed, I wandered back downstairs to finish making her coffee, the anticipation in me growing. As Kira joined me, I introduced her to my parents.

"Kira, this is my lovely mother, Cecilia, and father, Nathaniel." I took Kira's hand, giving it a reassuring squeeze before leaving her side to grab her coffee.

"Nice to meet you," Kira said with an endearingly nervous tone.

"It's Kira your bestfriend, what's point of introducing if we already know her?"

My parents exchanged bemused glances, clearly trying to piece together the connection between 'Kira' and their memories of my childhood friend. Yet, they were always the epitome of grace. My mother smiled warmly at Kira, extending a hand. "It's lovely to have you, Kira. I hope you'll enjoy spending more time with our LJ."

"Thank you," Kira responded, taking my mother's hand and shaking it.

My father, always the joker, couldn't resist. "You finally stole our LJ away from the innocence of her youth, huh? Nice work."

Kira laughed, a melodic sound that filled the room. "It was more mutual attraction than stealing. Anyways, thank you both for accepting me into your home as LJ's lover."

As breakfast progressed, my father turned to me, his expression softening as he spoke. "LJ, I know you're avoiding the topic, but your birthday is next week. You'll finally turn 18."

My heart raced, mind flashing to the last will and testament my late grandfather had prepared. It seemed like yesterday he was still with us, imparting wisdom with a glint of mischief in his eyes.

"Yeah," I replied, trying to sound casual as I loaded my fork with eggs. "Does that mean I finally get to read the letter Grandpa left for me?"

My father nodded, a glint of pride in his eyes. "Yes, and there's more. Your grandfather saw fit to leave you a property in Quezon. A mansion, in fact. He thought you'd enjoy the charm of old times, and you could use it as a summer retreat up north."

"Wow," was all I could muster as the magnitude of the news hit home. A mansion! Inheritance was one thing, but I never imagined anything like this.

My mother squeezed my hand under the table, her eyes shining. "Your grandfather spoke so highly of you, LJ. He did this for you, to ensure you had a place to call your own one day. We also want you to cherish the memories you'd create there with us, your extended family."

Tears pricked at the corners of my eyes, the love and generosity from my late grandfather overwhelming. I managed a weak smile, grateful for the gifts I was about to receive.

Kira reached over, placing her hand on top of mine where it lay between us. "This is wonderful news, LJ. You have a beautiful family, and I can't wait to share in the memories you'll make in this new home."

At that moment, the future stretched out before me, filled with a mix of excitement and uncertainty. With my family and Kira by my side, it was a future I looked forward to facing, embracing possibilities I couldn't even fathom.

As their words soaked in, the gravity of the situation left me feeling somewhat dazed. The knowledge of inheriting a mansion, a property steeped in a history I was a part of, was both thrilling and humbling. All these years, I never dreamed I would one day lay claim to something so grand.

"Thank you, both of you," I expressed, squeezing Kira and my parents' hands in turn. "I'll cherish this gift, and I promise I'll always honor Grandpa's memory by doing right by it."

"Of course, LJ, you don't need to worry about coming here every day," my mother interjected, reading my trepidation. "The mansion in Quezon is a perfect escape for you when you need a break. It's not far from Batangas, so you can visit on weekends if you'd like. And I'm sure Kira will be glad to join you sometimes, as well."

Kira squeezed my hand, eyes filled with understanding. I leaned over, giving her a brief kiss on the cheek. Our relationship was new and special, and our worlds had started to meld. The mansion in Quezon became yet another symbol of our journey and a chapter waiting to be written.

My father, who had been quiet for a while, then handed me a small envelope. "And here, LJ, is the key to your new home and the letter Grandpa wrote for you. Read it at your leisure, and let it serve as a guidepost for the journey ahead."

My father whispered at me "You know why i give you the key this early right so you too can live together alone,I hope the next time we visit there I have a grandkids to baby sit"

I chuckled, flushing at the suggestive statement. "Dad, we're still teenagers," I said, nudging him lightly. "We'll take things slow, but thank you for your enthusiasm."

My father winked, an impish grin spreading across his face. "I've seen the way you two interact, LJ. Time is precious, and so is love. Cherish what you have."

Kira's hand, still clasped with mine, gave a reassuring squeeze. The mansion, the newfound freedom, and our burgeoning relationship—they were all stepping stones we would navigate together.

With the conversation drawing to a close, the newfound excitement brewing within me was both comforting and exhilarating. Our family breakfast was filled with joy and anticipation, hinging on a future we were eager to embrace, together.

"Mom, Dad, we're heading to pack Kira's things from her place before we head to Quezon," I announced, readying to tackle the next adventure awaiting us.

"Take your time, LJ," my mother replied, a twinkle in her eye as she gazed at Kira. "We'll see you both soon."

"Thanks, Mom. Love you both," I called out to them as my father playfully tousled my hair.

I leave the kitchen , go to my room and pack my belongings and I turned to Kira, grasping her hand, and together we made our way to her house. I sent a message to Aunt Meiku to inform her of Kira's departure.

"Ready for this next part of our journey, Kira?" I asked, hoping my excitement wasn't too jarring.

Kira flashed her infectious smile. "Ready, willing, and eager. I hope we'll make many more memories in this new place."

Upon arriving at Kira's place, we were greeted by her parents Aunt Meiku, her mother, and Uncle Johan, her father. Their warm smiles a testament to the love they had for their daughter.

"LJ! So good to see you again," Aunt Meiku said, enveloping me in a tight hug. Uncle Johan also approached, extending a firm handshake, his face radiating cordiality.

"Thank you for taking care of Kira all these years," I said sincerely. "I'd like to tell you both something important. Kira and I are thinking about moving to the house I inherited in Quezon. Her studies will be close by, and I'll support her financially as well."

Uncle Johan gave a knowing nod. "That's a big step, LJ, and we trust Kira's judgment in matters of the heart. We'll miss her here, but we'll visit often. Just promise us you'll take good care of her."

"Of course, Uncle," I promised, my affection for Kira's family palpable.

Aunt Meiku , holding Kira's hand, looked at us tenderly, a tear escaping her eye. "This is both exciting and bittersweet. But I feel at peace knowing Kira's with someone like you, LJ. Keep her close, and cherish the moments."

I nodded, holding Kira's hand as well, our entwined fingers a bond of our commitment. "I'll make sure she knows she's loved every single day."

As Kira entered her home, she navigated through familiar paths, her gaze lingering over cherished memories. She moved to her room, a place that held her stories and secrets. Her parents, aware of her sentiments, gave her space to gather her things.

Her younger sister, Mei, caught wind of Kira's departure plans and came to her bedroom. Catching sight of Kira, her eyes widened, and she rushed over, wrapping her arms around her sister's waist. "Kira, aren't you coming back?" Mei asked with a tremble in her voice.

Kira hugged her tightly, fighting back tears. "Yes, of course, I'll come back, Mei. Missing you both would be impossible."

Ren, Kira's little brother, overheard the conversation and emerged from his room, his eyebrows furrowed. "Are you really leaving, Kira? Won't we see you anymore?"

"Hey, buddy," Kira said, kneeling to meet his eye level. "I'm not leaving forever, just moving to a new place. You'll still see me every weekend. And maybe, we could even come over if it's okay with Mom and Dad."

Ren smiled tentatively, evidently comforted by Kira's reassurances. He still held onto her leg tightly, as if to not let her go.

Meanwhile, Aunt Meiku and Uncle Johan watched the tender scene. "You've given us such happy memories, Kira," Uncle Johan stated with a rueful smile. "And we'll cherish every one of them."

Aunt Meiku approached, wiping away her own tears. "We're proud of you and the woman you've become," she whispered, hugging Kira close.

Kira's heart swelled, the love surrounding her palpable. "I'll always be your eldest child," Kira said between sniffles. "And I promise to visit often. I love you all so much."

They exchanged one final round of hugs, each meeting every emotion in the room. Kira's brothers and sister clung to her one last time, reluctantly letting her go when she was ready to leave.

At Kira's house, with her siblings comforted by the promise of frequent visits, I put a hand on her back, giving her a reassuring squeeze. "Don't worry, Aunt Meiku, Uncle Johan," I said, stepping closer to them. "I'll bring Kira here whenever she misses you all. Or you can join us in Quezon if you'd like."

Uncle Johan's gruff exterior softened as he met my eyes. "Thank you, LJ. That means a lot to us. Keep our Kira safe and happy."

Aunt Meiku wrapped her arm around Kira's waist, squeezing her tightly for one last moment. "You're more than welcome," she said. "Take care, sweet pea. And remember, your home is here, always."

Kira nodded, her cheeks wet with tears. We bid our farewells, the lingering emotions a testament to the bonds between family.

With the scene behind us, we continued to pack up Kira's things, the knowledge of fresh beginnings pushing us forward despite the sorrow of parting.
