"Where's the innkeeper?" Raven asked casually, leaning against the counter.
The attendant shrugged. "Not sure. He steps out sometimes in the mornings. Anything I can help you with?"
Raven gave a nod, keeping his expression neutral. "I wanted to check something in the booking records. You know, see if anyone suspicious booked a room around the time of the theft."
The attendant looked a little taken aback but then nodded slowly. "I suppose that's fine. The logbook's right here."
Raven took the logbook, flipping back to the night before the theft. His fingers brushed over the pages as he skimmed the names — but then he stopped.
The page he was looking for was gone. Torn right out of the book.
'Well, that's not suspicious at all...' Raven thought, frowning. He turned the book over in his hands, looking for any sign of the missing page or any explanation for its absence. But there was nothing.
