As the morning sun streamed through the small inn window, casting a soft glow on the room, Seraphina slowly opened her eyes. She blinked, taking in her surroundings, feeling the unfamiliar closeness of Raven beside her.
They were wrapped under a single blanket, sharing a bed that was far too small for both of them.
Normally, at the duchy, they shared a spacious and luxurious bed, but here, the tight quarters forced them to sleep much closer than usual.
It wasn't entirely uncomfortable, just different—cozy, but not exactly ideal for a duke and duchess.
Seraphina shifted a little, feeling the hard edges of the bed frame press against her back. Raven stirred beside her and opened his eyes, his gaze meeting hers.
"Well, this is… new," Raven muttered, a faint smile tugging at the corner of his lips. He stretched, careful not to bump into Seraphina.
