Chapter 258 - Chapter 123.1 Reasoning

Samhain was not supposed to be such a party, but the wishes of the spirits who gathered in the forest in large numbers literally soaked up the magic, and the result was what it was. I'd like to tell you a lot about this holiday, literally every minute, every emotion and feeling, but I'm afraid it would take too much time, so I'll have to cut it short.

Let me start with the fact that the storages are fully charged, they even had to be isolated so that the crystals wouldn't accidentally suck in more than the calculated volume and a big "BOOM" wouldn't happen. But as soon as I sealed the chest, I realized that the holiday had changed everyone and everything around me, including the storage crystals.

I haven't dealt with powerful drives yet, but according to the descriptions, they shouldn't pulsate and create phantom lights. I don't know exactly what happened to my memory system, but its functionality is intact, and that's the most important thing to me right now. Next, Luna's calculated ritual pattern worked, but also adjusted for the unusual nature of the feast. According to the initial calculations, the ritual superstructure was supposed to create, metaphorically speaking, a gently intensifying one-time burst of spiritual energy.

In reality, however, it turned out differently. As I have said before, the holiday was supposed to set the energies of life and spirit in motion, and each stage creates a new surge. This time these shocks came one after the other, and the presence of a large number of spiritual entities greatly increased the power and amplitude of the shocks. As a result, Luna and I received a mixed, spirit-driven jolt with each wave instead of just one, with the added "sponsorship" of the gathered kami. Behind the noise and the euphoria of the magical feast, some people lost touch with reality, but Luna and I, being more used to such "blows" on the brain, were not "drunk" but "slightly under the influence", i.e. we were able to think soberly.

The Malfoys, the Greengrasses, the mother and son Flint and the Parkinsons were all involved. So I could clearly see the wrinkles of the adults smoothing out, the vitality of their faces, and their wounds beginning to disappear — you could see and feel it in their auras, as well as the curses, some of which, the smallest ones, were simply washed away, and the stronger ones were "shaped" quite well.

I wasn't expecting THAT kind of effect, honestly, but kami is always a lottery, and there's always a good chance to draw a lucky ticket. But that's assuming you're capable of humility and respect for other beings, with a logic that is alien to humans. In this case, the Kami have decided to make their own changes for some reason, well, they're right.

Yaxley and Selwyn are, you could say, a necessary evil, in the sense that every society has its freaks, and wizards are no different from muggles in that respect. Huge amounts of money, power, family political authority — aristocrats get all that by being born into a high-born family, and it can't be said that everyone is able to bear it painlessly. The effect of "Golden Youth" in all its glory: from childhood such people get used to this way of life, and by the time they reach adulthood a person considers himself a "superior being" among primitives.

The one and the other were scum and maniacs — I could see it clearly in their auras, but I was forced to give them a chance, especially since I couldn't just take them and chase the "high masters" away. After the insults and refusals from their side, I was in my right, and if they started to attack, and they would, I would be in my right to even destroy them. The last of her family? So what?

Britain is strongly inclined to the dark side of magic, so destroying a couple of families, in the person of this couple, and so cursed, will not affect me in any way. If I tried to kill a Potter, a Longbottom, a Bones or an Abbott, it would hurt. In fact, these four families are the last "light" families in Britain, and the rest are either "dark" or "gray," like the Greengrasses, Parkinson, and Flint, whose "color" will be determined by the Second Gift when it is finally formed.

Anthony has been looking for fighters for a long time, so he'll have someone to fight with, but we're not interested in scum, so it's going very slow. However, for a one-off flesh-exchange event, the candidates have already been carefully selected, and I think the wizards will only breathe a sigh of relief when these forty or so Knockturn Alley talents die. They just need a little bit of shaping and healing, just a little bit — just to keep them alive for a couple or three minutes. And then the professionals take over.

But it should be added that Knockturn Alley is not only home to bandits, but also to many people who go there out of desperation and despair. Anthony even suggested organizing a good brothel, with guards and a healer, to get some of the women out of the poverty of Knockturn Alley. I have not yet approved this idea of his, but I am leaning toward a positive response. Lizzie will do some research on the subject of rescue in this way (I have no idea how she will do it, but the girl said she could), and I will make a decision on the basis of her findings.
