Chapter 91 - The Prophecy of Pharaoh

Chance and Lucy stood mesmerized by the detailed war murals, their eyes tracing the powerful figure that had emerged from the intricate carvings. The figure depicted was tall and imposing, a pharaoh commanding authority and power amidst the chaos of battle. In his hand, he held an object radiating an intense, almost blinding light.

"That must be Pharaoh."Chance said.

Lucy nodded in agreement. "And if this is the central chamber of the temple, then the pharaoh himself must be entombed here."

The two cautiously continued their exploration, guided by the increasing brightness of their own artifact. The corridors seemed to pulse with a mysterious energy, each step bringing them closer to the heart of the ancient temple. As they approached the central chamber, the glow from their artifact intensified, illuminating their path with an ethereal light.

Finally, they arrived at the core of the temple. There, in the middle of the grand chamber, lay an intricately decorated sarcophagus, undoubtedly the final resting place of the mighty pharaoh. The artifact in Chance's hand began to resonate with a powerful frequency, its glow syncing with the carvings and inscriptions that adorned the chamber walls.

"Look at the inscriptions," Lucy whispered, her voice filled with awe. "They tell the story of the pharaoh's reign and his mastery over the artifact's power."

Chance and Lucy carefully approached the sarcophagus. The closer they got, the more the artifact reacted, as if it were being drawn towards its counterpart within the tomb. The air was thick with anticipation and the palpable sense of ancient power.

"Be careful," Chance warned, his voice steady but tense. "We don't know what kind of defenses or traps might be here."

Lucy nodded, her eyes scanning the chamber for any signs of danger. As they neared the sarcophagus, the artifact's light became almost blinding, casting stark shadows that danced on the walls. The carvings seemed to come alive in the flickering light, depicting scenes of power, conquest, and divine intervention.

With a deep breath, Chance reached out and touched the sarcophagus. The stone was cool and smooth under his fingers, humming with an ancient energy. As he traced the carvings, he noticed a pattern that mirrored the symbols on their artifact.

"There's a connection here," he said, his voice tinged with excitement. "The artifact and the sarcophagus are linked. We need to understand how."

Lucy joined him, examining the intricate designs. "It looks like there are places where the artifact could fit into the carvings, like a key."

Chance positioned the artifact over one of the depressions in the sarcophagus. As soon as it made contact, a powerful surge of energy coursed through the room. The carvings began to glow, and a deep, resonant hum filled the air.

"The pharaoh's power," Lucy breathed, "it's still here."

The sarcophagus began to shift, ancient mechanisms grinding into motion. As the lid slowly lifted, a blinding light poured out, illuminating the entire chamber. They shielded their eyes, peering into the intense brightness.

When the light finally dimmed, they saw it. The artifact within the sarcophagus was identical to the one they held, but it pulsed with a far more potent energy. It was clear that this was the original source of the artifact's power.

"We've found it," Chance whispered, awestruck. "The heart of the pharaoh's power."

Lucy reached out tentatively, her fingers brushing against the glowing artifact. As she made contact, a wave of energy surged through her, connecting her to the ancient power. Visions of the past, the pharaoh's conquests, and the artifact's true potential flooded her mind.

"Chance," she said, her voice trembling with awe and fear. "This artifact can do more than we ever imagined. It can control time, space, and even the dimensions themselves."

Chance nodded, understanding the gravity of their discovery. "We need to be careful. This power is immense, and in the wrong hands, it could be catastrophic."

With newfound determination, they carefully extracted the artifact from the sarcophagus. The room around them seemed to sigh with relief as the intense energy dissipated, leaving behind a calm, almost serene atmosphere.

Chance stared at the glowing artifact in his hand, marveling at its power. "This stone is more than just a weapon," he murmured to himself, his eyes wide with wonder. "It's a force beyond anything we've ever seen, more powerful than the time machine."

He chuckled, a genuine, almost childlike laugh escaping his lips. For a moment, the weight of their mission lifted, and he felt a sense of awe and excitement. The artifact's glow reflected in his eyes, casting a magical light on his face.

"We need to see where this leads," Chance said, his voice filled with determination. "This is a game-changer."

Lucy nodded, equally captivated by the artifact. They continued deeper into the ancient temple, their path illuminated by the stone's ethereal glow. After a few twists and turns, they stumbled upon a pristine, glass-like table. Unlike the other traps and puzzles they had encountered, this one opened effortlessly, as if it had been waiting for them all along.

Inside the table, nestled among layers of dust and time, lay a book. Its cover was ornate, adorned with hieroglyphics and symbols of power. As they opened it, the ancient pages revealed themselves, detailing prophecies and visions.

"The Pharaoh's Prophecies," Lucy read aloud. Her eyes widened as she skimmed the text. "It says that two young people will come here, two thousand years from now, and they will take the sacred artifact."

Chance's heart raced. "That has to be us," he said, his voice barely above a whisper. "It's all been foretold."

They continued reading, but their excitement was cut short as the ground beneath them began to tremble. Dust and debris rained down from the ceiling. The walls, once solid and unyielding, started to crack and shift.

"The temple is collapsing!" Chance shouted, grabbing the artifact and the prophecy book. "We need to get out of here, now!"

They sprinted through the corridors, the once-familiar path now a treacherous maze of falling stones and shifting walls. The ground shook violently, throwing them off balance as they raced against time.

"Faster!" Lucy urged, her voice filled with urgency. They could see the entrance in the distance, a small sliver of light amidst the chaos. The walls were caving in, and the ceiling threatened to bury them alive.

With one final push, they burst through the entrance, tumbling out into the open air just as the temple behind them collapsed entirely. They lay on the ground, panting and covered in dust, but alive.

Chance clutched the artifact and the prophecy book tightly, his heart pounding in his chest. "We made it," he said, his voice trembling with a mixture of relief and exhilaration.

Lucy sat up, brushing dirt from her face. "That was too close," she said, her voice shaky but firm. "But we did it. We have the artifact and the prophecies."

Chance nodded, looking at the glowing stone in his hand. "This changes everything," he said. "With this artifact, we can finally stop the Freemasons and their dark plans."
