Chapter 87 - The Great Escape Room

Mayor Alpha's sudden disappearance sent shockwaves through the Freemason organization. Recognizing the imminent threat posed by Chance and Lucy, the group decided to take drastic action. Both were captured and thrown into a high-security chamber designed to disorient and break their resolve.

The chamber was a twisted labyrinth, a maze meant to exhaust and demoralize its captives. As they navigated the winding corridors, they came upon the first major challenge: five unmarked doors stood before them, each potentially leading to different dangers.

After a brief but intense discussion, Chance and Lucy decided on the second door. With a deep breath, they stepped through, only to find themselves in an unforgiving frozen wasteland. The air was biting cold, and the temperature plummeted below freezing. Their summer attire offered no protection against the harsh, icy climate, and they quickly began to shiver uncontrollably.

As the cold seeped into their bones, despair began to set in. Their breaths turned into frosty clouds, and their movements slowed. It seemed as though they were doomed to freeze to death. Just as hope was slipping away, Lucy's sharp eyes spotted something moving in the distance—a herd of mammoths lumbering through the snow.

"We need to act fast," Lucy said, her voice trembling from the cold. She pulled out her gun, a desperate plan forming in her mind. With a steady hand, she took aim and fired. The sound echoed through the icy expanse, and one of the mammoths fell, lifeless.

"We can use its fur to keep warm," Lucy suggested. Working quickly, they skinned the mammoth and fashioned makeshift clothing from its thick hide. The fur was a rough solution, but it provided enough warmth to stave off the freezing temperatures.

Clad in their new, improvised attire, they felt a renewed sense of determination. The immediate danger had passed, and they were ready to press on. They knew that escaping the labyrinth was their only hope of survival and reuniting with their mission to dismantle the Freemasons.

However, their ordeal was far from over. As they trudged through the frozen wasteland, new dangers emerged. At one point, the ice beneath their feet began to crack. With horror, they realized they were standing on a thin sheet of ice covering a deep, icy lake. They moved cautiously, trying to distribute their weight evenly, but the ice continued to crack ominously.

"Don't stop moving," Chance urged, his voice strained. "We need to find solid ground."

Their progress was slow, and each step was nerve-wracking. Suddenly, with a loud crack, the ice gave way beneath Lucy. She plunged into the freezing water, the shock of the cold causing her to gasp involuntarily. Chance immediately dropped to his knees, reaching out to grab her hand.

"Hold on, Lucy!" he shouted, his fingers gripping hers tightly. With great effort, he managed to pull her out of the icy water. Soaked and shivering, they hurriedly made their way to a nearby snowbank, where they huddled together, trying to regain some warmth.

"We need to keep moving," Lucy said through chattering teeth. "We can't stay here."

They pressed on, their bodies aching from the cold. As they navigated the treacherous landscape, they encountered a blizzard that reduced visibility to near zero. The howling wind and blinding snow made it nearly impossible to see or hear anything.

"We have to find shelter," Chance shouted over the wind. "We won't survive out here much longer."

They stumbled upon a small ice cave, its entrance partially obscured by snow. Grateful for any respite from the storm, they crawled inside. The cave offered some protection from the elements, but it was still bitterly cold.

"We need to start a fire," Lucy said, her voice barely audible. "We can't survive this without warmth."

With what little they had, they managed to build a small fire. The wavering flames provided much needed heat and light. As they gathered around the fire, they couldn't shake the feeling that they were being watched.

Their suspicions were confirmed when they noticed movement at the entrance to the cave. A group of savages had entered the cave. They were the inhabitants of the place, and their figures were almost invisible in the dim light.

Chance and Lucy tensed up and prepared for a fight, but the savages didn't attack. Instead, they spoke in a language that was familiar yet difficult to understand. One of them stepped forward

"Who are you?" It asked in a soft, pleasant voice. "Why have you come to our world?"

Chance and Lucy exchanged a look of relief. They weren't alone, and the creatures didn't seem hostile.

"We are travelers," Chance replied. "We have no intention of trespassing. We are trying to escape a dangerous organization."

The men whispered to each other "You are safe here," the leader said finally. "But you must leave before the storm is over. It is not safe to stay in one place for too long."

With the storm still raging outside, Chance and Lucy know they have no choice. They thanked the characters for their help and prepared to leave as soon as the storm subsided.

As the storm subsides, the savages lead them to a hidden exit from the ice cave. "Follow this path," said the leader. "It will take you to the next part of your journey. Be careful, and may you find what you seek."

Finally, Chance and Lucy nodded their gratitude and set off. Their path was taken by these men, and upon emerging from the cold hell, they found themselves in a new corridor.
