Chapter 36 - Abandoned factory

Chance arrived at the desolate location as instructed, a bag of 10 million yuan in unmarked bills clutched in his hand. The abandoned facility was eerily silent, its dilapidated structures casting long, menacing shadows in the fading light. His heart pounded as he scanned the area, searching for any sign of YoYo.

Finally, he spotted her. YoYo was tied up and suspended just above a large, decrepit wastewater tank, ten meters below. The murky water was steadily rising, threatening to engulf her. Panic surged through Chance as he saw the terror in her eyes.

"YoYo!" he shouted, his voice echoing through the empty space.

"Chance, you have to leave!" YoYo cried out, her voice trembling with fear. "He doesn't plan to let us go. You have to save yourself!"

Before Chance could respond, the man in black stepped out of the shadows. His face was twisted with anger and desperation. "You've ruined my life, Chance. Because of you, I lost everything—my family, my livelihood. I'm drowning in debt, and now you're going to pay."

Chance set the bag of money down, his eyes never leaving the kidnapper. "I brought the money. Let YoYo go."

The man in black laughed bitterly. "You think money can fix this? It's too late for that."

In a flash, the man lunged at Chance, and the two men grappled fiercely. The fight was brutal, each man fueled by his own desperation. Fists flew, and the sound of their struggle echoed through the empty facility. Chance fought with every ounce of strength he had, knowing that YoYo's life depended on him.

At one point, the kidnapper managed to pin Chance against the edge of the platform. "You took everything from me!" he snarled, his grip tightening around Chance's throat.

Summoning all his strength, Chance managed to break free and deliver a powerful punch to the man's face. The kidnapper staggered backward, his foot slipping on the slick, decaying surface. He teetered on the edge for a moment before losing his balance entirely, plummeting into the dark abyss of the wastewater tank below.

Chance didn't waste a second. He scrambled to the edge of the platform, looking down to see the kidnapper disappear into the murky depths. Then, his attention snapped back to YoYo. The water had nearly reached her, and she was struggling to keep her head above the surface.

"YoYo, hold on!" Chance shouted, his voice cracking with urgency.

He spotted a rusted control panel nearby and rushed to it, frantically searching for a way to lower her safely. His hands trembled as he pulled at levers and pushed buttons, praying that the old machinery still worked. With a screech of protest, the platform holding YoYo began to lower slowly.

The water continued to rise, now lapping at YoYo's chin. Her breaths came in desperate gasps, her eyes wide with fear.

"Chance, please, hurry!" she cried, choking on the foul water.

Chance's heart pounded in his chest as he worked furiously. The platform shuddered and creaked, descending inch by agonizing inch. He could see YoYo's strength waning, her head dipping below the water.

"No, YoYo! Stay with me!" he shouted, his voice breaking.

Finally, the platform came to a halt just above the waterline. Chance didn't hesitate. He leapt from the control panel to the edge of the tank, reaching out to YoYo. She reached up with the last of her strength, their fingers brushing.

With a surge of determination, Chance grabbed her hand and pulled her up, hauling her out of the water and onto the solid ground. YoYo collapsed against him, coughing and sputtering as she clung to him.

"I've got you, YoYo. You're safe now," Chance whispered, holding her tightly.

She looked up at him, her eyes filled with tears of relief. "I knew you'd come for me."

Chance brushed a wet strand of hair from her face, his own eyes shining with emotion. "I'll always come for you, YoYo. Always."

As they sat together, trembling and exhausted, Chance knew that they had survived the worst. The nightmare was over, and they were together. In that moment, nothing else mattered.
